The man scanned his surroundings, his gaze cold and calculating as it swept over Zephyr and Morgan. His eyes lingered on them, and a faint smirk of interest was touching his lips before he shifted, until his gaze landed on Kaelen. A grin broke across his face, he then spoke with a tone laced with dark satisfaction.
"We have some unfinished business, don't we?"
Kaelen gritted his teeth, gasping for breath, each inhale feeling like fire in his lungs. His hands tightened around his chained blades, but his legs trembled from exhaustion, barely keeping him upright. Things had taken a dire turn and the man's words gnawed at him. Could he actually be from Solandris, too? Or worse, was he allied with Zephyr and Morgan?
If that were true, Kaelen was in deeper trouble than he'd imagined.
Not long after, Zephyr's voice cut through the tension, steady and edged with a hint of shock. He stared at the newcomer, his brows knitted in recognition.
