Kaelen set his food down—a simple but hearty stew with chunks of meat and vegetables, served with a warm slice of crusty bread. Thane, on the other hand, had piled his plate high with just about everything he could get his hands on: slices of roasted meat, steamed vegetables, fried potatoes, and a second plate of sweet rolls waiting as a "dessert." It was a feast that could've fed at least three people, and Kaelen couldn't help but stare, a little wide-eyed.
Before Kaelen even got through half of his own bowl, Thane had already devoured most of his meal without a single pause for breath, tearing into it with the ferocity of someone who hadn't seen food in weeks. Meat juices dripped down his chin, and he tore through the bread in huge bites, showing no restraint at all.
Kaelen raised an eyebrow and said:
"You know, you could slow down. No one's gonna steal it from you."
