The lock groaned under the force of the flames, the metal itself was glowing as the chains that were connected to it rattled violently. Kaelen's dark flames intensified, wrapping around the lock like a suffocating shroud. A loud crack echoed through the chamber as the metal began to warp and crumble beneath the assault.
"Come on! Break, damn it!"
With a final burst of energy, the lock shattered, the four chains that stretched to the edges of the gate collapsing outward in a thunderous crash. The gate groaned as it began to loosen, no longer bound by the chains that had held it shut for who knows how long.
Kaelen quickly jumped down, landing beside Thane as the dust settled around them. The path ahead was now open, but what lay beyond the gate remained unknown.
"Well, that should do it."
Thane rubbed his shoulder, wincing slightly. He muttered:
"You should've just done that from the start."
