Kaelen and Thane sat slumped against a rocky outcropping, both gasping for breath. They had managed to escape the chaos, finding a secluded spot high in the mountains where the air was cool and the oppressive energy of the battle was far behind them. The distant hum of wind through the trees was the only sound, a stark contrast to the roaring flames and violent struggle they had just left behind.
Thane wiped the sweat from his brow, his chest was heaving as he tried to catch his breath.
"That was... something."
Kaelen, equally exhausted, leaned his head back against the stone, closing his eyes for a moment.
"Yeah..."

"We made it out. Barely."
Thane glanced around, his eyes scanning the sky as Kali swooped down from above, landing on a nearby ledge.
"Are you alright? You looked like hell back there."
Kaelen chuckled softly, opening his eyes again and nodding.
