Kaelen carefully made his way through the dense, crystallized forest, with the atmosphere shifting as he walked. The once vibrant crystals that dotted the landscape now seemed muted, as if a veil had fallen over them. While flying above, he could easily tell the color change, but down here, the transition was much more subtle—almost imperceptible. He stopped for a moment, brushing his fingers over a cluster of crystals, wondering about the history behind this place. A forest of crystals was surreal enough, but one that gradually dulled as he passed through it felt even more mysterious.
He glanced at his companion, silently perched on his shoulder as usual. He could feel her weight, light as it was, and he started to felt worried. He couldn't shake the nagging thought that Kali's transformations were taking a toll on her. He'd assumed by now she would be able to maintain her dragon form indefinitely.
