Kaelen slumped against the rough cavern wall, wincing as the ache in his ribs throbbed with every breath. His eyes were locked on the relic, its faint light still pulsing rhythmically in the direction of the massive golem. He wiped the sweat from his brow, trying to make sense of what he was seeing. The relic had led him this far—guiding him through the forest. But now, instead of pointing toward the portal as he had hoped, the light unmistakably trailed toward the hulking stone behemoth that had nearly crushed him.
"What the hell does this mean?"
Kaelen muttered, narrowing his eyes at the glowing object in front of him. The light wasn't wavering or shifting. It was fixed, like it knew something he didn't.
