Chapter 97 - Edge of Endurance

Kaelen lay sprawled on the ground. The cool and solid earth beneath him was a welcoming change from the constant chaos of swinging through trees and hanging from chains. He was still gasping for breath, and his body was aching from the ordeal, but for the first time in what felt like ages, he was still. His chest heaved, with sweat and blood drenching his clothes, but a small smile crept onto his lips as he stared up at the blood-red sky.

The beast was gone, swallowed by the chasm. He was alive. He had made it.

Slowly, Kaelen turned his head to the side, his gaze landing on the forest before him. The trees stretched out in front of him, not so different from the ones on the other side of the chasm, but there was a notable difference. The thick, oppressive roots that had filled the ground on the other side were nowhere to be seen. Here, the forest floor was clear—solid ground at last.

"Thank the gods..."
