"No... no, no, no!"
Kaelen, almost pleading with the universe for it not to be real. But... reality was often unforgiving.
As Kaelen approached, he swung to a stop and perched himself on the branch of a towering and sturdy tree. His worst fear was confirmed, and his eyes were not lying. Before him stretched a massive gap—an abyss that carved through the forest, stretching endlessly in both directions. The sheer size of the chasm was daunting, and as he scanned the scene, his hopes of quickly crossing were dashed.
The gap extended to the far horizon, like a black scar in the earth that separated one part of the forest from the other. There were no trees or vines to bridge the distance, just empty air and an ominous void below that seemed to swallow everything in its depths.
