His limbs felt heavy, and the world around him started to blur. The adrenaline that had kept him going through the brutal fight was now abandoning him, leaving behind only exhaustion and agony.
The edges of his vision darkened, and just as he began to lose focus, something familiar caught his eye. A black orb—shimmering with dark energy—rose from the creature's chest. Kaelen squinted, his mind was sluggish as he tried to process what he was seeing.
