'I really did level up, but the experience points needed for level 5 are insane. How many monsters am i supposed to kill for this?
On a side note, I leveled up way top quicky. My level is too high and my stats are too low. I've always believed that levels are irrelevant, what's important is stats. The higher they are, the stronger you are, levels are irrelevant.
I'll need to take out some high leveled monsters to make up for sudden level ups' Aaron contemplated in his head.
'That aside, let's see this new ability.'
__
[Learn ability "Body Shield"? Y/N]
__
' A defensive ability? Nice, I'll learn this one.' He thought
'Yes.'
__
[Ability "Body Shield" successfully learned]
ABILITY: Body Shield
LEVEL 3
[Creates a Shield to cover the whole body or just a single part of the Weilders' body. The shield is two times stronger when concentrated on a single part of the body.]
The defense given is directly proportional to the amount of MANA put into the ability. Te Shield will be up as long as MANA is poured into it every 30 seconds.
__
'Ohh damn this is a good one, if I concentrate on having a high MANA stat, this could become really OP. But my sword is starting to slowly become obsolete.
I'll be forced to take the mage path if this continues.' He thought while giving his sword a glance.
Aaron looked towards the seiling and closed his eyes.
'I'll rest for a bit.' He thought
Around 30 minutes later, Cecilia stood up and stretched her sinful body.
"Alright enough resting, we're moving out." She said.
Aaron opened his eyes and stood up. He took his sword and walked towards the door.
"Same formation as before." Cecilia said when everyone got outside.
"We're still about 20 minutes away, we need to quicken our pace." Alex said.
Everyone started moving, encountering a few groups of zombies that they made quick work of. Aaron made sure to stay out of the low level fights, not wanting to make to repeat the earlier situation.
It was only thirty minutes later that they made it to the Café, the zombie extermination too some of their time, even though they were walking at a fast pace.
The Café building looked like it was taken straight out of a horror movie, blood was splattered everywhere, but strangely, there were no bodies.
"Collect all the food and beverages you can find, leave only the alcohol. Drunk people are the last thing we need right now." Cecilia ordered.
Aaron jumped to the top of the building. Jumping this height was now easy with his stats. He sat down and let his feet dangle over the edge.
'Maybe I should set off on my own to fight the stronger monsters, it would make things faster and escaping would be easier. I'll think more about it on my way back' He thought
"Are you not going to help?" Cecilia said to him from below.
"I am." Aaron said with a profound tone.
"Staying here to keep watch is very important. We could get swarmed by monsters or zombies at any time." He said, exuding a majestic and scholarly aura.
'Hmph! Manual labor is for peasants, the great me shan't bother with such.' He internally thought, too lazy to help.
"Sure, I guess that's true." Cecilia said with a contemplative look.
"They're almost finished, but the food supplies only will be enough for two meals. We'll need to go back out tomorrow to look for more food." She said.
"Yeah sure. But that's not a solution, the campus will run out of food in about 3 days, we need a long term solution. And don't forget. There may be more people heading to the gymnasium in the meer future." Aaron said.
Cecilia nodded while thinking of solutions.
"Senior, everything's been collected." A student said.
"Alright." She replied
"We'll continue with this conversation when we get back." She said to Aaron.
'Why does she have to talk to me about it, not like I've been through an apocalypse before.' He thought while jumping back down.
"So how are we carrying these?" Dave asked.
"Do your thing." Alex said to the 3 people they brought.
"Earth sled"
"Earth cart"
"Box"
The three used their abilities, creating a sled a cart and a few dozen boxes.
"Abilities like these actually exist?" Dave asked with an unbelieving look.
Everyone nodded in agreement, equally shocked how were these people supposed to survive in this world with these abilities?
"Not everyone gets a conventional ability, but they all have their uses. If we didn't have these guys, we'd have had to find another to carry these supplies, which would have taken more time.
Now put everything in the boxes and let's get back." Aaron said.
Everyone looked at the 3 with appreciation in their eyes and got to packing the supplies.
'Can't believe they bought crap, I legit just made that up. I sure as hell wouldn't want to awaken with an ability like that.' Aaron thought.
Ten minutes later, everything was ready, and they began their journey back to the gymnasium. It would take them at at least 40 minutes to get back, that's if nothing went wrong.
As they were walking back, Aaron seemed to be deep in thought, and Cecilia approached him.
"What's got you thinking so hard?" She asked him.
"I want to break off from the group. I have somethings to take care of." He replied
"Can't you wait till we get back? Losing manpower could turn out bad." She said
"That's what I was thinking about, I'll just leave after we get back." He said.
'I'll be out till dark anyway, a few minutes make no difference.' He thought.
"Something's headed in our direction, and it's moving really fast." Dave said and looked towards Aaron.
"It's as fast as that white eagle we encountered." He said while pointing towards the building to their left.
"Then it's at least level 3. Is it airborne?" Aaron asked.
"No, the sound it's making sounds like it's on all fours." Dave replied.
"It's here."
"Shields up!" Cecilia ordered.
"It's fine, I'll handle it. I've been wanting to go fight some stronger beasts anyway. This works out just fine." Arron said, slowly making his way towards the direction Dave pointed.
"Take it with you, it'll break if I use it anymore." He threw his sword in Dave's direction.
BANG!
The wall of the building suddenly blew open as if hit by a wrecking ball, sending dust and debris flying everywhere.
SWISH
From the dust shot out a black blur, heading straight for Aaron who was closest to it.
'Ignition!'
HSSS!
The air around his forearms seemed to fluctuate, golden vein-like patterns appearing on them.
He clenched his fists and stood in a kokutsu daichi stance, the black figure right infront of him.
Concentrating his strength into his right arm, he violently twisted his body, sending a punch straight at the beast.
BOOM!
The collision created a shockwave that formed fifteen metre long cracks in the ground.
BOOM!
Aaron threw another punch at the beast, sending it flying back into the building.
"It'll be a while before I come back." Was all he said before his figure turned into a golden streak, disappearing from everyone's sight.
"Keep moving." Cecilia ordered.
__
BOOM! BOOM! BOOM!
Two figures, one golden and one black sped from building to building, their collision creating Shockwave that destroyed everything in their vicinity.
BOOM!
The golden streak crashed into a wall, destroying it on impact and revealing Aaron with his arms crossed infront of his chest.
'This thing is faster than me, none of my attacks are landing properly. My stats are laughable for my level. ' Aaron analyzed.
The black panther looking beast slowly Made its way towards him, its teeth bared.
Bang!
A spark suddenly appeared infront of the beast, creating an explosion that sent the beast sliding back.
Aaron appeared infront of the beast, clasping his hands above his head and dropping them on the beasts head.
BOOM!
The beasts head slammed into the ground creating a metre deep crater beneath it.
Aaron pulled his right fist back and slammed it back onto the beasts head.
BOOM!
Blowing it to pieces.
__
[Level 3 monster "Black Panther" slain]
[30 Experience points gained]
[4 STRENGTH points gained]
[3 SPEED points gained]
__
"Good." Aaron said while pulling his bloody fist from the beast's body.
"Now to find more of these things." He said, jumping towards the nearest sigle storey building's roof.
"Where do I even start looking? Meh, I'll just look around."
Aaron jumped from building to building, searching for monsters to kill.
'This is going to be a long night.'
__
Dawn
Bang! Bang!
"I'm back, open up." Arron said, standing outside the gymnasium building, knocking on its door.
CREAK
A few seconds later a familiar black haired, blue eyed beauty opened the door, staring at him.
"So you finally chose to return." She said.
Aaron shrugged his shoulders.
"There aren't many monsters to find in a campus you know." He replied.
"Sure, whatever." She said, turning back inside.
As Aaron walked in, he immediately noticing the increased number of people.
"More people came?" He asked.
"Yes, they came in last night. But none of them came from the dorms." She replied, walking infront of him
"I see. How many?" Aaron asked, while looking for a place to sit.
"43." she said.
'That makes 172' Aaron thought.
"You'll need to figure out a steady source of food soon. Their numbers will only increase from here. " He sated.
"You mean 'we'." She replied looking back at him.
"We?" He asked with a raised brow.
"You agreed to help me build a safe place for everyone, so you need to help with all issues that arise towards that end. That includes food shortages." Cecilia said matter-of-factly.
Aaron looked her straight in the eye, and sighed.
"Sure." He said.
Cecilia nodded her head and was about to say something else, but Aaron beat her to it.
"Well, I'm going to rest." He said and walked to an empty spot.
Sitting down, Aaron closed his eyes to finally rest his tired body. But he soon opened them again.
"What?" He asked Cecilia who was standing infront of him.
"Will you be joining our supply search later?" She asked.
Aaron stayed silent for a few seconds.
"Sure." He finally said, closing his eyes yet again.
He felt his mind slowly fade into the comforting embrace of sleep.
