The elevator doors slid open, and Yohan and Jed stepped out into the bustling hospital lobby. Jed couldn't help but notice Yohan seemed lost in deep contemplation as they walked.
"Little boss, you're awfully quiet... Are you still thinking about what grandfather said?" Jed asked curiously, falling into step beside Yohan who seemed a million miles away.
Yohan nodded solemnly, a heavy sigh escaping his lips as he pondered their conversation. It dawned on him that while he'd originally yearned for a simple, secluded life after this second chance at existence - eager to avoid entanglements with those from his past - destiny apparently had other plans in store.
In the end, Yohan realized he was even more inextricably bound to these people than before; unable to sever ties forged by fate itself... including Grandfather Xu, who had perished tragically during their very first encounter back in the past life.
