Kane turned to Yohan, his eyes still lingering on Landon and Jun with a smug expression. "So, when can we talk... alone?" His suggestive tone made it clear what kind of conversation he had in mind.
Earlier, it was Landon who held Jun back from fighting Kane, but now it was the other way around. Jun held onto Landon's arm tightly to prevent him from attacking Kane and burying him alive.
Yohan tried his best to disregard the lascivious tone in Kane's words and paused for a moment before giving his answer. He knew he needed some time to mentally brace himself before agreeing to meet with Kane again. "I'll call you and we can discuss things then." he replied uncertainly, already feeling drained from the encounter.
"Great! I'll be waiting for your call," Kane grinned widely like a cat that got the cream.
As they spoke, not only were Landon and Jun watching intently, but Axel and Tao as well. While Landon and Jun looked wary about the whole thing unfolding before them, Axel and Tao seemed amused - as if they were watching a soap opera or a romantic movie with popcorn in hand.
But Tao's expression suddenly changed as he squinted at Yohan, a look of realization dawning on his face.
"Kane, hold up. Didn't you say you were looking for a man with black hair and eyes? But this guy has silver hair and eyes. Even if he changed his style, how come when we just entered the bar and only saw his back figure, you already knew it was him?"
Yohan was stunned by Tao's words, he turned to look at Kane who appeared equally baffled. In his past life, Yohan had always sported black hair - so how could Kane have possibly recognized him from just seeing his back?
"I don't know," Kane shrugged nonchalantly before reaching out to grab a handful of Yohan's hair, his fingers tracing the silver strands with curiosity. "That's right... your long black hair has become silver and short," he observed with surprise. "But for some reason, I immediately knew it was you even though I was looking from behind."
As Kane continued to examine the locks in his hand, he muttered something so softly that no one else could hear him. A perplexed expression crossed his features as if he was trying to recall a memory.
"Strange... why do I feel familiar with this silver hair?" Kane wondered aloud before shaking off the thought.
Then a small smile crept onto Kane's lips as he chuckled softly. "I guess that just proves my feelings for you is greater than we thought, huh? I can recognize you no matter what changes you make."
Deep down inside, Yohan couldn't help but scoff at Kane's words. If his feelings were truly great, then why did he hurt him on purpose during their few years of marriage?
As Kane let go of Yohan's hair, his phone suddenly began to vibrate. With a curious look on his face, he picked up the call and answered it. Kane's expression suddenly shifted as he answered the phone, turning to Axel and Tao with a sense of urgency.
"I have to go back to my family main estate now," he announced, closing his phone abruptly.
His two friends looked at him incredulously.
"Are you insane? It's already midnight!" Tao exclaimed.
"Is everything okay?" Axel asked, concern etched on his face.
Kane nodded solemnly. "My grandfather... he's on his deathbed, so my dad wants me back home."
Without hesitation, Axel pulled out his phone and began making arrangements. "I'll prepare my private jet. Oh, and I'm coming with you too," he said decisively before stepping away to make a call.
Yohan was completely taken aback by this sudden turn of events and was thoroughly confused.
In his previous life, Yohan wasn't married to Kane yet at this point, so he had no idea about any of this. But something felt off; Yohan knew that Kane's grandfather wasn't supposed to die now, he should still have two more years left...
He had never met Kane's grandfather during their two years of marriage because his grandfather didn't approve of Kane marrying a man. But when Yohan finally did meet him, it was a tragic and unexpected encounter. Upon seeing Yohan's face, the old man suffered a fatal heart attack that led to his death.
And strangely enough, before passing away, Kane's grandfather gripped Yohan's wrist tightly as he lay on the floor. Even in his final moments, his eyes continued to stare intently at Yohan until the moment his life disappeared - leaving him with an unsettling feeling.
Ironically, Kane's family blamed Yohan for the tragedy, considering him to be the cause of his grandfather's untimely demise.
As Kane, Tao and Axel rushed out of the bar in a frenzy, Yohan instinctively followed them without thinking twice. It felt like déjà vu from his past life when he would always be by Kane's side no matter what - feeling like it was something he needed to do as Kane's husband. When they arrived at the parking lot, someone grabbed onto his hand from behind and stopped him in his tracks.
It was Landon and Jun who had been tailing him since they left the bar; seeing that Yohan continued to follow after Kane's group, Landon immediately intervened.
"Why are you following them, Yohan?"
"Huh? I....."
Yohan felt a sudden wave of realization wash over him as he came to terms with the fact that he was no longer in his past life. He laughed nervously, feeling slightly embarrassed by his mistake.
"Ah... It seems like I got carried away seeing them panic..." Yohan explained, hoping that Jun and Landon would understand.
Thankfully, they seemed to accept his answer without any further questioning. Yohan's gaze then shifted towards Kane's group, he saw them discussing something before Kane hopped into his car. Axel and Tao didn't join him but instead heading straight towards Yohan quickly.
To Yohan's surprise, Tao carelessly bumped his shoulder with enough force to make Yohan wince in pain. But instead of apologizing like any normal person would do, Tao simply carried on walking past him towards the car parked next to them. Landon became offended and annoyed at his rude behavior.
"How rude of him..."
Meanwhile, Axel passed by Yohan with a guilty smile while patting his shoulder gently. "I'm sorry about Tao, it seemed like he didn't realize he bumped into you," he said apologetically.
Yohan shrugged off the incident with a dismissive wave of his hand. "No problem, don't worry about it," he said to Axel. "You better hurry up and get in though, aren't you going with Kane too?"
Axel nodded before quickly making his way towards the car where Tao was waiting for him. Yohan watched as they drove away before turning to Jun and Landon.
"Let's go home. I'm sure we're all exhausted by now," he said with a smile.
Landon nodded in agreement, his eyes still burned with fire from the events of the night. "Yeah... What a night... All because of that annoying guy, Kane! I wish I could just seal him up in a cement box and throw it to the bottom of the ocean!" he exclaimed with frustration.
Jun gave Landon a gentle smack on the back of his head, as if to remind him to tone down his violent thoughts, before letting out an amused chuckle.
"Easy there babe, let's not go overboard now."
Yohan joined them in their laughter, however, his laughter faded when he noticed a familiar figure standing in the parking lot under the moonlight - Gio. He wondered why Gio hadn't joined Kane's group before at the bar and instead stood alone outside.
Although Yohan recognized him, he pretended not to see Gio since they were strangers in this life and kept walking towards their car. However,as he passed by Gio, Yohan couldn't help but feel a sudden shiver run down his spine. There was something off about the way Gio looked at him, causing goosebumps to rise on Yohan's skin.
