"What's wrong with that person?" Kian asked, his voice laced with icy disdain.
Without another word, he dashed out of the apartment's glass doors, phone still pressed to his ear. Yohan followed close behind him. The wail of approaching police sirens echoed through the night air from an alleyway just a few blocks away – a sound that sent a shiver down Yohan's spine.
Yohan had expected Kian to run towards the alley where they suspected the stalker was hiding, but instead, he stopped abruptly in front of the building's entrance and stared intently into its darkness. Understanding dawned on Yohan instantly; if he went into that alleyway alongside Kian, it would be a direct confrontation – potentially dangerous for Yohan if his stalker hadn't been apprehended yet.
Kian would always prioritize his safety above all else – even without the memories of their past life, that instinct was ingrained in him.
