Sung-hoon hadn't ever been in such an awkward situation before.
After Jae-wook had caught him carelessly caressing his hair Sung-hoon had rushed down stairs after chastising himself and finally getting himself together he made a simple western breakfast. Before he could take it up to Jae-wook, he came down on his own he looked better.
Now they were both seated silently at the dining table. Sung-hoon avoided eye contact as much as possible as he ate his food.
"Do you have a crush on me?" Jae-wook asked causing Sung-hoon to choke on his milk as he hit his chest trying to regain his composure.
"You really know how to make awkward situations worse." Sung-hoon berated him as he wiped his lips with a napkin before tossing it on the dining table.
"Then why did..."
"Do you have no social cues? You say the most random things everytime we seat down to eat." He said chastising him.
His fans might have found that a good quality about him. He didn't let anyone talk down to him and gave his honest opinion on things so much that his manager asked him to tone it down a bit but he wasn't a big fan of lying. He believed in letting things out in the air and clearing out the misunderstanding. After some time Jae-wook had learnt to navigate it easily and smoothly in a way that seamed appealing and easy going.
This was however, becoming quite annoying to Sung-hoon especially since it seemed like Jae-wook was backing him up against a corner. Plus he didn't hold back his tongue like he did in front of the cameras which made it even worse.
"I found you on my bed and you looked interested in me this morning. " Jae-wook stated casually as he drunk some juice.
"It meant nothing. " Sung-hoon stated but his voice was less than confident as he cleared his throat.
"Oh okay." Jae-wook said as he continued eating his food like nothing happened.
"That's it?" Sung-hoon asked surprised by how fast he accepted his answer.
"Was there anything else?" Jae-wook asked as he looked up at Sung-hoon.
"Nope." Sung-hoon said shaking his head.
Jae-wook stood up after some time and picked up his dishes with Sung-hoon following behind him with his own dishes.
"I will take care of them you should rest" Sung-hoon said pushing him away from the sink.
"Umm...." Jae-wook started looking a bit confused.
"What's the problem." Sung-hoon asked as he started cleaning the dishes.
"This is the first time I don't have anything planned." He said his voice a bit distant and confused.
"What did you do the time you came by for like four days?" Sung-hoon asked as he rinsed the dishes from food particles.
"I had work from my company I was working on."
"Your way of relaxing is working?" Sung-hoon asked staring at him. By Sung-hoon's perspective the more he got to know him the weirder he became. "Are you a workaholic?"
"Kind of." Jae-wook said unbothered. It was never really an issue with him he liked keeping himself busy it kept his train of thought grounded. He had thought Sung-hoon would be the same since he worked a lot when they were at school and when he was filming so he automatically thought they were kind of similar. Now that Se-hee had insisted he rest and had instructed the employees not to give him any information he was left stranded.
Se-hee and jae-wook both had invested into a real estate company. They bought run down houses refurbished them and sold it at a higher price. It was going quite well. Se-hee was the primary CEO of the company and jae-wook would look up the company and discuss with her certain aspects. She was an intelligent person and soon they had gained quite a significant profit margin and had started to earn a name for itself.
The company was called Song-deck. In Korean, the term "song-deck" (종대) refers to a traditional musical instrument. It consists of a set of small, wooden clappers that are struck together to produce sound. The clappers are typically arranged in a deck or stack, and the instrument is played by striking the clappers in various combinations to create different rhythms and pitches. The song-deck is often used in traditional Korean music and dance performances.
The instrument was one of se-hee favourite instruments and she found it so endearing thus she chose it as the name for the business.
Jae-wook's name wasn't made public however, he also didn't want to take advantage of his popularity to build his company which would later cause problems for it if something did happen. Plus building it organically step by step would prove more advantageous in the future.
Sung-hoon did like working it kept the thoughts at bay and helped him get exhausted when he needed a good night sleep but now that his dreams were slowly getting realised he didn't hold as much burden. Sure there were nightmare here and there some days worse than others but he had decided to look past that. He wanted to enjoy the journey. He didn't want to miss out on anything. And when he did get to rest he tried his best to get as much of it as he could thinking it as compensation for his hard life till then. Plus he wanted to get in the beat shape. He would review some of his scenes to see if they were okay and did a lot of research.
He knew he had to put in a lot of work but he also needed to take care of himself since no one would. He had learnt that the hard way. There were times he thought he was useless but that night at the bridge was a turning point for him. After that he meet people who actually cared about him and he was happy with them. If he let his depression take over he would have isolated himself even more and thanks yo Mae-rin he got out of his shell and she welcomed him and treated him like family something he had yearned for.
"Why don't you chose a movie I will join you." Sung-hoon said as he got back to washing the dishes.
Jae-wook stood there for a while before going to the seating area and after a while Sung-hoon joined him.
He placed a few bowls of snacks on the table and sat down beside him.
Jae-wook had chosen a movie about a young woman who was an agent she was however inactive. But when she was called in unexpectedly one day it put her families life at risk and she had to save them and help them flee.
The movie took almost two hours.
After that Sung-hoon brought out some games which he had previously bought for when ji-hye decided to come over for a visit.
They played for hours they didn't even notice it was past two pm. Sung-hoon made them some simple lunch and after taking it they went back to their game of monopoly.
They had a lot of fun. They would laugh shout and curse if any of them lost.
It was the most fun Jae-wook had had for a long time. He didn't even notice when he smiled or laughed as he became immersed in the games.
"I will order some dinner what would you like?" Sung-hoon asked as he picked up his phone and dialed the number.
"Chicken would be nice with some pizza. I haven't had that in a while."
"Okay good." Sung-hoon gave the order and they went back to playing.
"You are cheating." Sung-hoon shouted playfully as he threw the cards on the table after Jae-wook won for the fourth time in a row.
"You just suck at it." Jae-wook said laughing slightly.
Sung-hoon looked at him for a while before he pointed and let out a loud sigh as he fell back on the carpet in an exaggerated manner.
"I have never seen you smile or laugh as much as you did today." Sung-hoon said his voice animated as he placed his hands behind his head. "It's good." He looked at Jae-wook who looked bit taken aback.
He looked back to when he last genuinely laughed. Not laughing for the cameras. It had been quite a while.
"Maybe I should get sick more often." He said sarcastically.
"Well I am not taking care of you." He suddenly sat up his expression cheeky. "Unless you pay me. I might consider it."
"Don't you make enough money?" Jae-wook asked as he started stacking the cards.
"I am just starting out besides most of the money went to loans thats why I am here." He laughed as he rocked back and forth.
"You can stay as long as you want. " Jae-wook's statement took him by surprise as he stopped in his tracks and before he knew it his face was close to Jae-wook's face a smile on his lips.
"For real?" He asked excitedly. " I don't want to intrude it is your house after all." He looked him dead in the eyes as he spoke.
"I hardly stay here so it will be okay. " Jae-wook didn't notice he was holding his breath. Sung-hoon breath was tingling his skin and his lips were so close he could lean forward a bit and he would be able to kiss them just like that night when he drowned in them.
It was after a few seconds that Sung-hoon noticed their current position. He sucked in his breath before he tried to retreat. But as he was backing away his bracelet caught onto the arm of Jae-wook's woven sweater making both of them tumble with jae-wook on top of him holding up his weight with his arm.
Sung-hoon lay there in a daze as his heart started racing faster and faster with each second that passed. He got lost in the orbs of Jae-wook's eyes he felt like he was floating and drowning at the same.time.
"I am so sorry." He said his voice distant as none of them made any efforts to disentangle the sweater.
Sung-hoon could feel Jae-wook bulging on top of him through his thin cotton fabric and he couldn't help but blush.
He was attracted to Sung-hoon.
But what exactly was their relationship.
They weren't friends.
Nor were they lovers.
They weren't even friends with benefits because what they felt transcended that.
Then what were they.
The door suddenly opened with Se-hee announcing her arrival while holding a lot of bags. They both stood still as they watched as Sung-hoon quickly threw Jae-wook off him breaking his bracelet in the process as they both sat awkwardly on the carpet.
