"Mommy, do you know that uncle?" Faolan tugged at my shirt.
"I know him, but we're not close. He's a bad person, sweetheart, so just avoid him in the future. And you were really brave to stand up for yourself just now." I smiled and pinched Faolan's soft cheek, rubbing my face against his.
Indeed, Faolan is my charger; thinking of this pushed all my worries into the trash can.
"Excuse me, miss, what are you..."
I was interrupted by a strange voice and suddenly remembered I had just gotten into a random person's car.
"I'm sorry to bother you; we'll get out right away." Seeing that no one was outside, I didn't want to impose any longer.
"Click."
The car door locked, and I looked warily at the driver's seat. Under a shock of bright red hair was a strikingly handsome face, adorned with red earrings that shimmered against a black leather jacket—he looked like someone straight out of a comic book.
"What are you doing?"
Though I was momentarily stunned by his appearance, I wasn't foolish enough to let my guard down.
"Beautiful lady, please don't be scared. I just hoped to have the honor of giving you and this lovely boy a ride. Could you tell me your destination?" His voice was pleasant, like a clear stream in the mountains, crisp and melodic.
If I had to compare his looks to someone from my memory, it would probably be that man Jack, whom I loathe. However, these two were not of the same style; to be honest, this man attracted me significantly more than Jack did.
"Then please take me to the shopping center on Regent Street," I smiled slightly, not rejecting his earnest offer.
"Of course, beautiful miss. My name is Dante, and what is yours?"
"Amelia. But I'm curious how you know what I look like." I didn't think a stranger could discern if I was beautiful through the way I obscured my face.
"You have a good body figure." Dante was direct and didn't beat around the bush.
"Thank you. You have a good body figure too." His straightforwardness relieved me; if that's all he was after, I didn't have to worry about hidden motives.
"You haven't seen the best yet. How about we explore together?" Dante was being a bit too forward.
Getting a glimpse of Faolan's innocent eyes made me cough awkwardly a couple of times, and I decided not to continue that topic.
Dante droves quickly, and we soon reached our destination. After dropping us off, he held out his phone and waved it in front of me.
"Want to exchange contact information?"
"It seems I have no reason to refuse." After I pulled out my phone and added his contact, I waved goodbye to Dante.
I initially thought this was just a small encounter and that we might never meet again. However, my little wolf suddenly tugged at my hand and said, "Mommy, this uncle has a very familiar scent."
"A familiar scent?" The only things that could be familiar to my little wolf were witches or werewolves. The witch clan has very few members, and I've mostly seen them. That left werewolves as the only option. I just wondered if he knew Jack. Maybe this could be a new lead.
But for now, my priority was to find Faolan a new preschool. Given either Liam's presence or the teacher's character, I wouldn't let my child attend that school anymore.
"Beep beep beep."
My phone rang. It was Lydia calling.
"Amelia, have you moved into your new place? Let's go grab a drink."
"Sure, I actually need a favor from you."
After settling Faolan at home, I headed out to meet her.
