Rowan hearing my word nodded and led me to the door. Inside the small room, dimly lit by a single candle, I saw a young girl lying motionless on a simple bed. Her face was pale, her breathing shallow, and her small frame was covered in a woolen blanket. By her bedside knelt a woman, her mother, who looked up at us with tear-streaked eyes.
"Her name is Liora," Rowan said, his voice trembling as he reached out to hold his wife's hand. "She was once full of life, running through the fields and playing with the other children. But now…"
I stepped closer to the girl, feeling a profound sadness but also a sense of righteous anger welling up within me. I recognized that this was not just a physical ailment—it was something far darker. A demonic presence clung to her like a shadow, draining her life away and trapping her in a state of spiritual bondage.
I placed the glowing Bible on the bedside table and opened it to Mark 9:23, where Jesus said, "If you can believe, all things are possible to him who believes." I read the verse aloud, allowing the words to fill the room with their divine power. The candlelight flickered as if in response, casting dancing shadows on the walls. As I finished reading, I closed the Bible, bowed my head, and began to pray.
"Heavenly Father, in the name of Your Son, Jesus Christ, I come before You now. I ask for Your healing power to descend upon this child, to break the chains that bind her, and to restore her to health. By the authority given through Your Word, I rebuke the spirit of infirmity that has taken hold of her. In the mighty name of Jesus, I command you, foul spirit, to leave this child and never return!"
I placed my hand gently on Liora's head, invoking the name of Jesus with unwavering faith. The room seemed to grow colder for a moment, and then the atmosphere shifted. Liora's body tensed, her eyes fluttering under her closed lids as if struggling against an unseen force.
A billowing cloud of darkness began to emerge from her orifices, twisting and writhing as it was expelled by the light of Christ's authority. The dark cloud gathered near the ceiling, writhing in fury before being cast out with a shriek that only the spirit world could perceive. The oppressive weight that had hung over the room lifted instantly, and peace descended like a soft, warm breeze.
Rowan and his wife gasped in astonishment as Liora's eyes slowly opened. She blinked several times, her gaze focusing on her parents. "Mama? Papa?" she murmured weakly.
Tears of joy streamed down their faces as they rushed to her side, embracing her with trembling hands. "Liora! My precious child!" her mother cried, holding her close.
Rowan turned to me, his eyes wide with a mixture of disbelief and reverence. "It's a miracle… She's awake… She's truly awake!"
I smiled gently. "This is the power of our Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ. It is not by my hand, but by His grace that your daughter is healed."
Rowan dropped to his knees, overwhelmed by the miracle he had just witnessed. His wife followed suit, tears flowing freely as they both bowed their heads in awe. "We believe," Rowan whispered, his voice choked with emotion. "We believe in your God, in Jesus Christ. Please… tell us more."
I knelt down beside them, placing a hand on each of their shoulders. "This is only the beginning. The Lord's love is boundless, and His truth is a light that will never be extinguished. Let us pray together, and I will teach you more about His ways."
The three of us prayed there in that room, thanking God for His mercy and rejoicing in the miracle He had performed. As I shared the gospel with them, their eyes widened with newfound hope and understanding. I could see their hearts opening to the truth, and I knew that this family had been transformed forever.
That night, as I retired to the guest room Rowan had offered, I reflected on the power of faith and the purpose that lay ahead. The journey would be long and the challenges many, but with God's guidance, I knew I could bring light to this darkened world. As I drifted off to sleep, the words of Jesus echoed in my mind: "I am with you always, even to the end of the age."
And with that blessed assurance, I rested, ready to face whatever awaited me in the days to come.
---
As dawn broke, I set out from Enet, the village now imbued with hope and faith. The path ahead was uncertain, but the mission was clear. Little did I know, my journey would soon intersect with another soul on a quest for redemption.
Elsewhere, a former paladin brooded by a flickering fire. Once a devout believer and a soldier of his faith in Qaxzul, he had grown up an orphan on the streets of the great city of Fergala. Fascinated by the paladins' miraculous powers and driven by a desire for stability and purpose, he had enlisted. The years of training had been grueling, but he had persevered and taken pride in his role—upholding justice and battling the monsters infesting the forests for years.
Yet his faith had been shattered when his commander began exploiting villages, overcharging taxes, and abusing the townsfolk. Disillusioned, he had confronted and ended his commander, breaking his oath and rejecting the very institution he had once revered. His regalia, once a symbol of his faith, was now reduced to ashes, along with his cape, which he had burned as a final act of defiance.
As he sat by the fire, reflecting on his shattered past and uncertain future, a sudden crack of a broken twig caught his attention. Drawing his Greatsword, he scanned the darkness with a mix of wariness and resolve. "Come out!" he commanded, his voice tinged with authority and underlying desperation. "Show yourself, or I will drag you out myself!"
The night remained eerily quiet. Then a voice cut through the silence—calm and composed. "At ease, I come in peace."
Emerging from the shadows was a figure dressed in attire unlike any the former paladin had seen before. The priest's attire was distinctive, with a cross symbol prominently displayed and a leather sling bag slung across his chest. The former paladin's suspicion was tempered by curiosity as he lowered his sword, eyeing the unusual visitor.
The priest approached, his demeanor serene and confident. "I am Elijah," he said, extending a hand in a gesture of peace. "I am on a journey to bring light to those in darkness. It seems our paths have crossed for a reason."
The former paladin, still grappling with his internal conflict, regarded Elijah with cautious interest. "A priest?" he muttered, his mind racing with questions. "What brings you to these forsaken woods?"
Elijah's gaze was steady, his expression one of understanding. "I seek to offer hope and healing where it is needed. Your presence here suggests that you, too, are in search of something—perhaps redemption or a new purpose."
The former paladin, his grip loosening on his sword, nodded slowly. "I have much to ponder," he admitted. "Perhaps our meeting is a sign. I would like to hear more of your mission and what you believe in."
Elijah smiled warmly. "Then let us sit by the fire and share our stories. There is much to discuss, and perhaps, together we can find the path forward."

As the fire crackled softly, casting warm light across the night, Elijah and Cael settled beside it. The quiet of the forest amplified their conversation.
Elijah looked at Cael, his gaze steady. "You've been through much, Cael. I sense you're searching for something deeper. Let me share with you what I've learned about God and His purpose."
Cael nodded, his expression a mix of curiosity and skepticism. "I'm listening."
Elijah took a deep breath. "The first thing to understand is that God is both vast and intimate. He's the Creator of everything—the universe, the earth, and all that lives within it. In Genesis 1:1, it says, *'In the beginning God created the heavens and the earth.'* This means that everything we see and experience comes from His will and power."
Cael frowned slightly. "I grew up in a city where many gods were worshipped. I've seen miracles performed by them—healing, protection, even control over the elements. I've also seen paladins wield incredible powers, and yet their gods are so different from yours. Why should I believe that your God is any different or more powerful than the gods I've known?"
Elijah smiled gently. "That's a valid question. It's true that many gods are worshipped in different cultures, and each deity is associated with certain powers or miracles. However, the key difference with the God of the Bible is His nature and the relationship He offers. He's not just a powerful entity but a personal, loving Father who desires a relationship with each of us."
Cael seemed thoughtful. "But I've seen gods that seem just as personal and powerful. How is your God different?"
Elijah's expression grew earnest. "The difference lies in the nature of God's interactions and His ultimate purpose. The gods you've seen may perform miracles, but they often demand sacrifices or show limited compassion. The God I speak of is revealed through Jesus Christ, who embodies self-sacrificial love and forgiveness. In John 3:16, it says, 'For God so loved the world that he gave his one and only Son, that whoever believes in him shall not perish but have eternal life.' This love is unconditional and freely given, not earned through ritual or sacrifice."
Cael's gaze remained skeptical. "But how can one man's death redeem the sins of many? It's a concept I struggle to grasp. In my experience, divine power is often about control and might, not about sacrifice and redemption."
Elijah nodded, understanding the difficulty. "It's a profound mystery, but let me explain. Jesus' sacrifice is not about divine control but about a deep and profound act of love. It's through His sacrifice that we see the ultimate expression of God's love and justice. In Romans 5:8, it says, 'But God demonstrates his own love for us in this: While we were still sinners, Christ died for us.' Jesus' death was a way to address the brokenness and separation between humanity and God. By taking on our sins, He made a way for us to be reconciled with God."
Cael's skepticism softened slightly. "So, Jesus' sacrifice is about mending a relationship rather than just showing power?"
Elijah's eyes brightened. "Exactly. It's about restoring what was lost and offering a path to true reconciliation with God. Jesus' resurrection from the dead is the assurance of this new relationship and eternal life with God. In 1 Corinthians 15:20-22, it says, 'But Christ has indeed been raised from the dead, the first fruits of those who have fallen asleep. For since death came through a man, the resurrection of the dead comes also through a man. For as in Adam all die, so in Christ all will be made alive.' "
Cael listened intently, his expression thoughtful. "I see. You're saying that the power of your God is not just about miracles but about transforming lives and offering a new kind of relationship?"
Elijah nodded. "Yes, that's right. God's power is not just in miracles but in His ability to change hearts, heal wounds, and bring hope. His ultimate purpose is to invite us into a relationship where we experience His love and are transformed by it."
Cael looked at Elijah, his skepticism giving way to genuine curiosity. "You speak with conviction and clarity. I'm interested in learning more about this faith and how it might offer me a new perspective."
Elijah smiled warmly. "I'm glad to hear that. Let's continue exploring these truths together. There's much to discover about God's love and purpose, and I'd be honored to walk this path with you."
As they sat by the fire, the warmth of the flames mirrored the growing connection between them. Elijah's explanations provided Cael with a new understanding of God's nature and purpose, and though doubts remained, a seed of curiosity and hope was planted.
After a moment of quiet reflection, Elijah's expression grew more serious. "Cael, there's something else I need to reveal. It concerns the gods you've encountered and the true nature of the spiritual forces at play in our world."
Cael's curiosity was piqued again. "What do you mean?"
Elijah took a deep breath. "The gods you've encountered—the ones that have granted power and performed miracles—many of them are not who they appear to be. They are not benevolent deities but fallen angels who have masqueraded as gods. Their true nature is deceptive and malevolent."
Cael's eyes widened. "Fallen angels? How can that be? They've performed miracles, granted power…"
Elijah nodded solemnly. "It is true that these entities have shown power, but their miracles are meant to deceive and lead people away from the truth. The Bible speaks of these fallen angels and their leader, Lucifer, who once was a high-ranking angel but fell from grace. In Isaiah 14:12-15, it is written, 'How you have fallen from heaven, morning star, son of the dawn! You have been cast down to the earth, you who once laid low the nations! You said in your heart, "I will ascend to the heavens; I will raise my throne above the stars of God; I will sit enthroned on the mount of assembly, on the utmost heights of Mount Zaphon. I will ascend above the tops of the clouds; I will make myself like the Most High." But you are brought down to the realm of the dead, to the depths of the pit.' "
Cael listened intently, his skepticism growing. "So, you're saying these gods are actually fallen angels pretending to be deities?"
Elijah nodded. "Yes, Lucifer, who is also known as Satan, is the leader of these fallen angels. He and his followers have sought to corrupt humanity and divert them from the true God. In 2 Corinthians 11:14, it says, 'And no wonder, for Satan himself masquerades as an angel of light.' These fallen angels disguise themselves to appear benevolent, but their true aim is to lead people away from God and into deception."
Cael's brow furrowed. "I've seen these gods grant power and influence, and I've been taught to revere them. How can I trust that what you're saying is true?"
Elijah's gaze was earnest. "It's understandable to question what you've been taught. But consider this: if these gods were truly benevolent, why would they lead people into deception and darkness? The true God, the Creator of all, desires truth, love, and relationship, not deception and control. In John 8:32, Jesus said, *'Then you will know the truth, and the truth will set you free.'*"
Cael's eyes searched Elijah's face. "What is your mission, then? What are you doing here?"
Elijah's expression grew resolute. "I have been sent by God to reveal the truth and to expose the deception of these false gods. My mission is to bring light into the darkness and guide those who have been misled back to the true God. In Ephesians 5:11, it says, 'Have nothing to do with the fruitless deeds of darkness, but rather expose them.' This is why I am here—to help those like you see beyond the illusion and find the true path."
Cael sat back, the weight of Elijah's words sinking in. "This is a lot to take in. If what you say is true, then everything I've known and fought for might have been a lie."
Elijah placed a reassuring hand on Cael's shoulder. "It is never too late to seek the truth and to turn towards the light. The true God offers forgiveness and a new beginning, no matter how far one has strayed. In Acts 3:19, it says, 'Repent, then, and turn to God, so that your sins may be wiped out, that times of refreshing may come from the Lord.' "
Cael's gaze was a mix of confusion and hope. "I need time to process all of this. But if what you say is true, it changes everything."
Elijah nodded. "Take all the time you need. I am here to answer your questions and to guide you on this journey of discovery. The path to understanding and faith is not always easy, but it is worth it."
As they sat by the fire, the warmth of the flames seemed to symbolize the dawning realization in Cael's heart. Elijah's revelations had opened a new perspective, challenging everything he had known and believed. The journey ahead would be one of deep reflection and search for truth, but with Elijah's guidance, Cael began to see a path forward, illuminated by the light of a higher truth.
The fire crackled gently, the only sound in the stillness of the night. Cael's mind raced with the weight of Elijah's words. He glanced at his companion, seeking to make sense of the revelations.
"Elijah," Cael said after a pause, "if what you've told me is true, then the gods I've worshipped and fought for have been deceiving us all along. How do we confront such deep-seated deception?"
Elijah looked into the fire, his eyes reflecting its glow. "The first step is to recognize the truth and reject the falsehoods. It's not easy, and it requires courage. But remember, the true God is always with those who seek Him earnestly. In James 4:8, it says, 'Come near to God and he will come near to you.' By drawing close to the true God, you can find the strength and clarity needed to confront the deceptions of the fallen angels."
Cael nodded slowly, processing the information. "I've always been taught that power and miracles were signs of divine favor. But now I'm questioning everything I've known. How do I discern which powers are genuine and which are false?"
Elijah's expression softened with understanding. "Discernment comes through a relationship with the true God and through the guidance of His Word. In 1 John 4:1, it says, 'Dear friends, do not believe every spirit, but test the spirits to see whether they are from God, because many false prophets have gone out into the world.' The true God reveals Himself through His Word and the fruits of His Spirit—love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness, and self-control. These qualities reflect His true nature."
Cael's eyes met Elijah's with a mix of determination and uncertainty. "I want to understand this more deeply. I need to know how to separate truth from deception and how to follow the true path."
Elijah's face showed a blend of encouragement and seriousness. "It's a journey of faith and learning. Start by immersing yourself in the Scriptures, seeking the truth with a humble heart. Pray for wisdom and understanding. In Proverbs 2:6, it says, 'For the Lord gives wisdom; from his mouth come knowledge and understanding.' And remember, you're not alone in this journey. I'm here to help guide you and support you as you explore these truths."
The fire's warmth seemed to extend to Cael's heart, providing a sense of reassurance amidst the uncertainty. He took a deep breath, feeling the weight of the path before him but also a glimmer of hope.
"I appreciate your guidance, Elijah," Cael said earnestly. "This is a lot to take in, but I feel a spark of hope that there might be a true path amidst the confusion."
Elijah smiled warmly. "That spark of hope is a good start. The path ahead may be challenging, but it's a journey towards truth and freedom. Trust in the process and in the God who leads you."
As they continued to sit by the fire, the conversation shifted to more practical matters of faith and discernment. The night passed with a new sense of purpose and clarity for Cael, his journey now intertwined with the search for truth and a deeper understanding of the divine. The path was far from clear, but with Elijah's guidance and the light of newfound truth, Cael felt ready to face whatever lay ahead.
The fire continued to crackle, a steadfast symbol of the journey that had begun—a journey of discovery, faith, and the pursuit of the true God amidst the very shadows of deception.
