Chapter 30 - An American's Opinion on the "Walking Dead" Incident

April 16th, 2027

I dunno why we're calling it the "Walking Dead Incident", but that's what the internet's decided, so. I mean, it's not even like the Walking Dead! The US's fine, and boring as hell, and pretty much everywhere else is doing great. Ethan, who was visiting South Korea when the zombie crap came up, is visiting Korean restaurants and whatnot everyday!

And Aoi even went to that Magical Mirai thing in the middle of Japan's lockdowns and this shit.

Sony released the PS6 before I got to see those two IRL.

...Dad's still flying to and from Africa.

He's a former helicopter pilot, left after his helicopter got damaged and the military let him keep it. He finished repairs on it a month before the outbreak hit.

Point is, he's still evacuating people. I haven't seen him in a year and a half. I just want him to come home already...

The Indian primary super swarm's been killed. Couple drone bombings, a few artillery bombardments, and a kill zone, apparently. They're going to start searching India for survivors after doing the sound lure thing a second time.

Oh, and funniest thing, Nole Muskratt hasn't been found yet! Billionaire went missing in Africa in 2025 and they're still looking for him. That's, like, the only thing the military's doing that people don't like.

Grandpa's cancer treatment also went well, so that's good. Target, Costco, Publix, all them somehow survived the beginning onslaught of "preppers", and Sweet Tomatoes is reopened now. Love that place, so many nice memories...

Now that I think of it, Asia's doing fine. China's reporting less and less outbreaks and zombie sightings. Although there is still a super swarm nearby. North and South Korea have been holding up fine, and Japan's not letting anyone in or out still. Just the resource imports. Thailand's not the greatest, but they aren't dead. A lot of the gulf of the country's infected, though.

Egypt's border control has been off the charts, too. They've got tanks, constant helicopter flyovers, everything out there. South Korea's "been nice enough" to lend them a couple thousand soldiers for internal control, as the news said it.

On Africa (again), some places are still relatively safe, just surrounded by super swarms. The internet's made "High Risk Help Spaces" and there's even a Discord server made up of people with helicopters and planes and "mercenaries" who make groups and plan together to do evacuations of civilians at pre-designated locations. And I forgot about the new Tik Tok trend... basically, they just apply to the voluntary zombie eradication force (VZEF) and take videos of deploying in Africa and those places and killing zombies. Clout, I guess. Of course, there's always the unlucky guys who get caught by hordes. We get to see it all live...

I wonder if we'll ever go back to normal. Whatever normal was. Maybe this is the new normal? Maybe we will go back to normal. But I don't think we'll ever forget this. I could tell my kids how I survived a zombie apocalypse... the most boring zombie apocalypse. Where I live off of Netflix and chill.

...I want cheetos. I should buy those. I would buy those, if that BASTARD hadn't gotten the Publix closed down after BREAKING THE DAMN WINDOWS! Crazy wannabe-prepper. Can't get anything but potato chips and carrots and apples now. Fuck that dude.
