**Location: A dark basement beneath one of the city's old buildings**
A group of men and women sat around a massive round table. Their faces showed signs of strength and mystery. There was no light in the hall except for a small flame in the center of the table, dimly illuminating their faces. They were the Seven Elders, the leaders of the "Lords of Shadows" organization.
One of them, the man known as Number One, stood slowly and spoke in a solemn voice:
"Dragan has fallen. It was necessary to protect our secrets. He was exceptional, yes, but his mistake was that he started asking the wrong questions."
Another man, Number Three, who wore a mask covering half his face, nodded and replied, "That's true, but he was one of our best soldiers. Getting rid of him was a great loss."
The woman who bore the number Four looked at them sharply and said, "We had no choice. Dragan began to uncover things he should never have known. We rule the world from the shadows, and that is our nature. Anyone who comes close to revealing the truth must be eliminated."
Number Six interrupted in a cold voice, "What about the others? Those who knew him? Those who worked with him? They might start asking questions."
The man known as Number One raised his hand to silence her, then calmly said, "We will deal with anyone who might cause problems. Everything is under control. The most important thing now is to prepare for the next mission."
**In another place, far from the dark basement**
Dragan slowly began to regain consciousness, pain ripping through his body, but his willpower remained strong. There was someone beside him, their voice calm and gentle: "Don't move too much, you've sustained serious injuries."
Dragan tried to open his eyes and saw a faint light. It was a small room, possibly a hideout. He muttered with difficulty, "Who are you? And why did you save me?"
A young woman's face appeared before him, her hair long and black, her eyes brown. She smiled faintly and said, "My name is Layla, and I'm here to help you. I've worked in the organization for a long time, and I know a lot about you, Dragan. You are not alone."
Dragan felt confused: "Why are you helping me?"
Layla replied seriously, "Because I want us to find out the truth. You're not the only one who wants to know the organization's secrets. There are others. We are a team working in the shadows just like them, but with a different goal."
Dragan closed his eyes for a moment, gathering his thoughts: "So, you're recruiting me?"
Layla chuckled a little and said, "You're not really in a position to refuse, but yes, we need you. You need time to recover, but when you're ready, we'll go together to uncover the truths they want to hide."
**After several days**
Dragan began to recover slowly. His tough training and experience helped him cope with the pain. One night, he sat with Layla in the room and began asking her about the group and the purpose behind all of this.
Layla said, "We are a group of people who have a history with the organization. Some of us were agents like you, and some have their own reasons for opposing them. Our goal is to bring them down, or at least expose their truth to the world."
Dragan thought for a moment, then said, "What do you know about the Seven Elders?"
Layla's expression became more serious: "Not much. They are people with immense power and influence. Some are major businessmen, some are former military officers, and even politicians are among them. They hide their identities well, and they never appear in public. We know they have plans much bigger than what we know."
Dragan nodded: "I fought one of them; he was incredibly powerful. If Number Seven is that strong, I can't imagine how powerful Number One must be."
Layla looked at him intently and said, "That's why we need you, Dragan. You are the only one who came close to exposing them. Together, we can achieve what we couldn't do alone."
Dragan looked into her eyes and saw honesty and determination. He decided that he would continue down this path, the path of searching for the truth, no matter the cost.
At that moment, he realized that his real battle had just begun. His downfall was not an end, but the beginning of a new phase, where the struggle would be fiercer and the danger greater. But he was ready to face everything for his goal: uncovering the secrets of the "Lords of Shadows" and freeing himself from his mysterious past.
