Chapter 11 - Enough With The Pretence

The Chimera spread out its wings and took off into the air. Tyson's Wolf launched at it and ripped out its left wing with its claws, bringing down the Chimera.

The Chimera let out a painful yelp and blood gushed out from where the wing once was. Tyson's Wolf leaped at it again and ripped out the second wing before slashing its side, slashing it as deep as it slashed Skylar's back. His Wolf was angry and was fuming with rage. All he wanted to do was kill the godforsaken Chimera who dared hurt Skylar. When his Wolf realized that the Chimera was beginning to heal and its wings were starting to grow back, he launched at the lion head and sung his fangs into its neck, ripping out a loud chunk of flesh then dug his fangs into his neck again, gripping it tightly. The snake part of the Chimera tried to strike but he caught it in his paw and squeezed it until it popped, spilling its gut everywhere. The Chimera's body tried to shake him off but his hold on it was too strong. No matter how hard it shook, Tyson's Wolf was not willing to let go. Instead, it gripped the neck of the lion head even tighter.

The goat head opened its mouth wide and a fireball was beginning to form in its throat. With a speed of lightening, he ripped out the lion head from its body and tossed it into the goat head's mouth just as it was about to let out the fireball causing it to explode from the inside and spilling its own gut everywhere.

The Chimera's remaining body shook itself and flew off with its barely grown wings looking badly misshapen and flying like its body was too heavy for its wings which at that moment, it was.

Tyson's Wolf let out a warning roar as the Chimera flew off into the night. He shook his fur, removing the little grime he could from the exploded Chimera body parts then ran to Skylar's side.

He nudged her with his nose but she didn't move, didn't even twitch. He sniffed her, trying to locate a pulse but he didn't feel any. When he realized she really might be dead, he let out a painful whine.

Tyson transformed back into his human form and turned Skylar on her back, softly brushing her hair from her face.

"You can't be dead, it's too easy." He murmured. "Please wake up Skylar, there's still so much I need to know about you. You're too much of a mystery. Please wake up." He closed his eyes and took a deep breath. He wasn't going to just accept that she was dead, there had to be something he could do. He carried her in his arms; she was still warm, and began to walk. He had no idea where he was walking to but it helped clear his head.

After walking for some minutes, he came across an abandoned looking forest hut.

He slowed his steps and sniffed the air for anything unusual. So far, so good, nothing looked nor felt out of place. He kicked the door of the hut open and walked in. In the hut was a well made bed which seemed suspicious. Everything in the hut seemed in place and looked neat, not a single dust in sight. Gently, he placed Skylar on the bed and brushed her hair aside before standing up and looking around. He sniffed the air, something felt strange and smelt weird. He couldn't feel nor smell it earlier but now that he was inside, he could pick up a pungent smell. It was so strong, he could taste it in his throat. A second later he heard a creak behind him and subconsciously, his claws extended and he turned around with a swipe but there was no one there.

"Show yourself!"

"Who are you? And what are you doing in my house?" He heard a soft voice ask but he couldn't pinpoint the location of the voice because it sounded like it came from everywhere; bouncing around the walls.

"Your house?" Tyson asked then retracted his claws.

"Yes, MY house." The voice snapped.

"Please, don't chase us away, my friend was badly hurt and I needed a place to keep her so that she can heal."

"Hmm.... She's not going to heal like that. She's more or less dying slowly and definitely not healing."

"How do you know that?"

"Oh c'mon, I'm pretty sure you hear her heart beat get fainter and fainter as the seconds pass. You're just not willing to accept it."

"Are you like me?"

"I'll rather die than be anything like a Werewolf. You all disgust me and smell like wet dogs!" The voice spat in disgust.

Tyson didn't know when a growl escaped his mouth.

*Truth hurts, dog." The voice cackled. "I can help your girlfriend, on one condition."

"Show yourself first."

"Down here." The voice said and Tyson looked down. Standing in front of him was a girl who looked no more than five. She had a long curly hair packed into two buns with bows on them.

Tyson looked bewildered. He couldn't believe what the heck he was staring at.

"You're just a child!" He shrieked. "What are you doing in the middle of nowhere all alone?! Where are your parents?!"

"Hey! I am over a thousand years old and I can change my look whenever I damn well feel like. Today, I'm in the mood to look like a five year old! Hmph!" She snapped and scoffed but Tyson still looked unsure.

"Over a thousand years old? What are you?"

"Only the greatest Witch that ever walked the earth!" She said with a puffed up chest and pride lacing her tone.

"A Witch?" He arched his brow. "This day just keeps getting better," He murmured.

"Now, tell me what's wrong with your girlfriend?" She asked as she walked over to where Skylar lay.

"She's not my girlfriend."

She rolled her eyes and shook her head. "Whatever! Just tell me what's wrong with her."

Without a word, Tyson turned Skylar so that she laid on her tummy.

The girl gasped. "Oh my! That's some claw marks! Why isn't she healing? Is she like you?"

"Yes but her Wolf's a dormant one, probably that's why she isn't healing fast enough."

"No, that's not it. Dormant Werewolves are usually the strongest and fastest when it comes to healing. She should have healed almost immediately." She murmured as she softly traced her fingers around the claw marks. "What did this?"

"A Chimera."

"A what?!" She shrieked. "What's a Chimera doing out here in the woods?!"

"I should be the one asking you that since apparently, you live here."

"A Chimera has never been here. This would be the first." Suddenly, her countenance changed and she gave Tyler a vicious look.

"What?"

"YOU brought it here!" She growled then vanished into thin air. One minute she was there and the next, she wasn't.

A minute later she poofed back in, startling Tyler.

"Where the hell did you go?! I thought you abandoned us!"

"Take a chill pill, bruh! I went to cast a protective ward around my house. The Chimera might return."

"Not anytime soon, I doubt. I ripped it in various ways. It basically flew away with barely its body intact. It's probably nursing its wounds as we speak."

"I'm not taking any chances." She held her palms over Skylar's back and moved it around. A second later, her palms began to glow so did her eyes. "What kind of claw did the Chimera have?"

"Silver. It said its claws were made of silver."

"It shows the Chimera was expecting you and came prepared."

"What does that mean?"

"It means both you and your girlfriend will need to be careful. Someone wants you dead and that person won't stop until you are."

"I don't care about any of that. How do I save her? She doesn't have much time left!" Tyson snapped, starting to get desperate.

"I can't heal her. The silver broke into her skin and as long as they are there, she can't heal."

"So what now? There are no hospitals nearby to take out the shards of silver claws and her breathing is getting fainter...."

"There is one thing, though?" She said thoughtfully.

"What?"

She got up from the bed and moved closer to Tyson.

"Bend over, you're too tall."

"O...kay." He did as she said and she began to sniff him which creeped him out. "Why are you sniffing me?"

"Your blood smells strong, like that of an Alpha but you're still not aware of your powers. Your Wolf has been dormant for quite a while, that is, until today." She inhaled deeply and nodded. "You'll do."

"You could tell all that just by sniffing me?" Tyson asked, shocked.

"There's a reason why I'm the strongest Witch alive." She winked. "I know what you must do. You need to bite her. Like sink your teeth into her skin kind of bite." She waited for his reaction but he had a blank look.

"Okay? That doesn't sound bad. Where do I bite?"

She sighed and shook her head. "For an Alpha, you still have so much to learn. In Werewolf tradition, there's something called marking. Where you bite your mate and your mate bites you back, sealing the mate bond. You biting her would mean you're creating a connection between the two of you. You'll start to feel what she feels. You'll know when she's happy, sad and you'll feel her pain. She'll basically be in your head and there is no way to get rid of that except she dies. Biting her would make her a part of you so, think about this carefully."

Tyson went mute and went over everything she said in his head. Her being a part of him. Him feeling everything she feels. It was a small price to pay to save her life. He was willing to pay.

"I accept. Saving her life is more important then anything else."

"Good. I planned on murdering you if you had said otherwise." She pushed him closer to Skylar and pointed to the spot close to her ear. "Bite there and make it deep. Also, you might feel a thing a or two while biting her."

"Feel what?" He asked over his shoulder but she had gone. He shook his head and turned back to face Skylar. He could hear her labored breathing, feel her body heat seeping through his skin.

He gently tucked her hair behind her ear and caressed her cheek. Even in her current situation, she looked mind blowing. He could stare at her all day and never get tired. He took a deep breath and extended his fangs then leaned towards the spot.

In one motion, he sunk his fangs into her skin; drawing blood and closed his eyes. Skylar let out a barely audible moan but he still heard her.

Tyson could feel himself getting a boner, and he could feel some kind of electrical current passing through him, which he simply didn't understand. Something weird was going on with him and he couldn't pinpoint what exactly.

He pressed himself hard against her and didn't even realize he began to grind against her. He wanted her there and then and he could feel himself burning up. He was really uncomfortable.

"Tyson...." Skylar whispered softly as her eyes slowly fluttered open. Suddenly, he pulled back and retracted his fangs.

"You're awake." He murmured then watched in awe as her body pushed out the shards of broken silver and then closed up, leaving just few scars behind. Once they had all closed up, he flipped her on her back and gently stroke the spot he had bitten with his tongue, getting a moan from her.

"Moan like that again and I might just end up losing my self control." He groaned huskily, his muscles bulging from underneath his shirt.

"You have a girlfriend." She whispered and he smirked, settling himself between her legs.

"Try me." He said in a daring manner. He grinded himself against her, causing her to gasp. "Thank you." He whispered after a few seconds of silence. "You almost died because of me, which was stupid by the way but, thank you."

"I would do it again if given the chance." She muttered and he smiled slightly.

"I'm aware but don't do that. I can handle myself just fine."

"You barely even know who you are."

"I'm getting a hang of it. At least, now, I can transform into my Wolf and I can extend and retract my claws and my fangs, so.... that's progress....."

"Wait, wait, wait, hold on a sec. Did you say you can transform into your Wolf now?"

He nodded. "How else do you think we escaped the Chimera? I ripped it apart. Apparently, you getting hurt activated my inner demon."

He heard a low growl in his head. Suspecting it to be his Wolf, he ignored it.

"Wow! That's.... that's great."

"Thank you." He bowed his head.

"So....where are we?" Skylar asked, looking around in the way she can.

"My house." She said, suddenly appearing and causing Skylar to flinch. "Your boyfriend barged into my house like he owned the place and begged me to heal you."

"Who.... Who are you?"

"My name is Zara, the greatest Witch alive."

"Greatest Witch? You look like a child."

"This is my disguise. I can be whoever I want to be. Today, I'm a five year old. Tomorrow, I can decide to be a fifty year old woman. It's my choice."

"Wow!" Skylar muttered. "None of my witch friends mentioned that ability to me."

"Not everyone is lucky enough to have such abilities. Such a shame."

"You have Witch friends?" Tyson asked in shock.

"I have all kinds of friends." She shrugged like it was nothing.

"It's almost dawn, you might need to leave soon." Zara said.

"All right." Tyson nodded and was about helping Skylar up when Zara stopped him.

"No, she stays."

"Why?" Tyson asked, getting suspicious.

"Pushing out the silver and healing would have taken a toll on her. She needs rest, lots of it. You can come check up on her later today, if you like."

"What do you think?" Tyson asked Skylar.

"I don't mind. I can take care of myself."

"No harm will come to her. You have my word."

Tyson nodded. "Thank you for everything." And with one last look at Skylar, he left.

Both Skylar and Zara watched his retreating back in silence and once he was out of earshot Zara's eyes zeroed in on Skylar.

"All right, enough with the pretence. Where have you been these past years?"
