Marcus looked at the wall clock which was ticking.
TICK! TOCK!... TICK! TOCK...
It seemed he had woken up around 10:30 a.m, poor Mei Ling had to sleep on the floor because the room was a room apartment complex.
Although Marcus offered to do that but she refused after hearing what he went through, except for the system part, Marcus wouldn't want her to think he was a loon, like seriously who would believe that?
Mei Ling graduated last summer from college at the surprising age of eighteen! She was just starting her career and it seemed to be a slow progress because of the situation the country was in.
'It seemed she had gone with the awakened to raid areas'
Marcus sat up in the bed and yawned, the room wasn't bad, while one side of the wall where the bed was against was adorned with abstract art, a large flat-screen TV was mounted on the wall opposite the bed, and beneath the flat-screen was tanks of different species of fish which lined the wall.
"So she is into fish, Oh... I have forgotten she is a biologist" Marcus realised as he gazed at the small tanks.
It was a beautiful view.
Marcus yawned and his eyes glanced at the table hooked with a chair at the other angle of the room which was close to the door.
He noticed a plate that was covered with another plate and a small carton of milk beside it.
"Don't tell me it's what I'm thinking" he mumbled with disbelief, she actually left him breakfast after so much he ate yesterday night, Marcus knew she just bought it that morning because there was nothing left in the refrigerator and cabinet yesterday, he had finished everything.
"I must repay her," he said determinedly.
Marcus didn't like the feeling of owing someone, he tilted his head and remembered that he hadn't received his paycheck for the previous year month of September since he got caught in the incident the last week of September.
And another thing he wanted to do was go to the hospital where his mum was.
Marcus stood up, wearing the pink hoodie and brown shorts Mei Ling lent him yesterday.
Marcus had never thought he would freeload at someone else's house not to talk of a girl, she was creepily nice.
And it looked weird wearing a girl's shorts and hoodie even though his clothes were all stained with blood and torn and he had no choice, Marcus still felt weird.
"When we are not dating" he blurted out, and reflexively coughed at the words, his face turning slightly red immediately.
"What the fuck am I thinking, I should get the fuck out of here and work to repay her, school is out of the matter now"
Marcus moved to the front of the large flat-screen TV, his eyes glanced at the array of tanks that lined the base of the TV.
He was mesmerized by the creatures for a while before he picked up the remote control.
Marcus glanced up at the TV and was on the verge of pressing the power button to switch the TV on when he heard something ring in his head and a familiar voice followed...
Ding!

[Display Stat Screen?]
"Eh!.. what the fuck..."
Marcus yelled and shook his head, he thought he was probably hallucinating, after all, he did hit his head before blacking out.
'Wait a minute' Marcus thought he hit his head which was true but he did wake up and he wasn't dead.
"The system, it's back" The words tumbled from Marcus' lips and his lips curled into a smile thereafter.
He knew immediately that it was a cause of joy because it was the same whatever thing that healed him.
No ordinary people would have survived being smacked away with the powerful huge paw of a beast bear a long distance, hitting a tall building headfirst and falling thereafter.
So whatever this thing was, it was definitely a cause of joy to Marcus who didn't awaken any power.
"Yeah," he answered with a smirk.
As Marcus stood facing the flat-screen TV, he saw something reflecting like a purple digital screen.
"Wait, perhaps the TV is on" he narrowed his eyes and then turned his head to the left side, the digital screen followed his gaze.
Marcus blinked twice, "Humh, so this is the stat screen the system is talking about" he nodded while the digital screen followed the movement of his head as he nodded.
Then he checked it.

"Incredible! It almost looks like a video game stat" Marcus was amazed.
'But what is with that species, what does hiveman mean, perhaps it was a system error, it is supposed to be human, not hiveman right?'
Marcus' eyes narrowed at the digital screen.
'That class is not cool, am I supposed to hunt insects'
'And what the heck am I supposed to use those skills that look useless to do?'
He scoffed, Marcus was glad at the gear, it says built-in armor, he had already guessed what it meant, and given the grade, he knew it would be very powerful, tungsten is the strongest and toughest metal, but the attributes are still not clear, what are the range?
"Gene this gene that, give me fucking superhuman power!! What the hell will I use these skills to do, perform surgical operation?!... He yelled out.
