The whole class seemed to rumble as if there was an impending earthquake.
Students wore confused expressions not until huge and sharp yellow talons clawed down the front edge part of the class just from the right side of the whiteboard.
Screams filled the air, it was a gigantic grey foot of a bird.
Mr. Lau—who was just a foot from the place—jumped a few feet to the left side with a shocked expression.
If it had been before, his pot-belly stomach would have restricted his movement with every bounce.
Marcus was surprised and at the same time shocked that he instinctively stood frozen by the wall at the back of the class where his seat resided.
Another foot of talons clawed down the roof and almost slashed at a girl who slipped in time to dodge it while she let out a horrified scream.
"Kyaaaahh!!..."
It seemed Zoe Li, the assistant class rep had guessed the situation as she started ushering the class out.
The rubbles of the ceiling were starting to fall, dust spewing as the roof gave way since there wasn't any wall to support them by the side of the board, and almost half of the classroom had turned to rubbles in just a short amount of time.
Almost all of the class had evacuated except Mr. Lau, Leo Zhang, and Alex Wei, perhaps they believed in their strength more than any other person.
But Marcus was too shocked to move because he was the first to see the creature because from his position he was able to see what owned the talons the moment the first talons landed.
The two glowing piercing red eyes that reflected malevolence and intelligence.
Marcus' heart was thumping as if it would jump out any moment.
His breath almost ceased at the creature, Marcus felt as if he was a prey who was about to be prey upon.
It was a sparrowhawk, and judging by its bluish-grey color, it was a male one, it towered above the classroom, and then the creature bent and showed its face to the rest of the class.
Their mouth seemed to open slightly in surprise but there wasn't time to be surprised.
Meanwhile, Marcus was still glued to the wall at the back unable to move a centimeter.
Zoe Li had already ushered all the classmates outside the class and he could hear the sound of a bell ringing signaling an emergency and thorough evacuation of the whole school, a mutant beast had arrived...
Alex Wei—the guy with curly black hair that fell to his face and appeared to be heaving a 300 kg barbell with only one hand when Marcus entered the class—was the first to react as he dashed towards the beast with incredible speed although he didn't appear to be a blur.
The beast noticing this reacted and spread out its large left wing and flapped it at the incoming Alex who had already jumped up about six feet, and readied his coiled arm of punch.
The air current the large wing created was enough to blow him away like a feather but he twisted midair and landed on the floor near the entrance.
Marcus can only marvel at his ability to maneuver his body.
'How did he do that?!'
Even Marcus felt the strong wind blow at his face where he stood at the far end of the class, while Leo Zhang and Mr. Lau slid some distance backwards.
Most of the seats were all blown away to the entrance side giving way for more space around the beast in the half-crumbled classroom.
It seemed it was annoyed at this latest occurrence and shrieked loudly, a piercing sound that created more fear in Marcus as he stayed glued to the wall.
Cold sweat kept breaking down from his face.
Marcus' shirt collar was almost soaked with sweat as his widened eyes witnessed the event unfolding.
If the time was to be taken into account, all this only took a few seconds from the time Alex Wei attacked.
Leo Zhang burst into motion, he seemed to be faster than Alex Wei as he almost appeared as a blur.
'What speed!!'
The beast flapped at him, and a strong wind blew concurrently, but he dodged, he seemed sly as he slipped through the tiniest opening of the blowing wind.
He climbed the whiteboard and in an instant, he was already atop the beast's head—it all took a split second.
Leo Zhang covered the red glowing eyes of the beast with his both hands which barely covered them while the beast flung its head around violently but it seemed Leo Zhang managed to stick to its head somehow.
The beast hawk almost tumbled as it walked backward.
It seemed Leo Zhang wanted to minimize the damage to the school infrastructure as he pulled at the beast's head while it hobbled backward from the class into the lightly wooded area about thirty yards from the school building but still in the vast compound of the school.
With this, Leo Zhang released his grip, granting a few moments of reprieve for the beast hawk.
As the beast hawk started getting its bearings, Leo Zhang coiled his two arms and aimed the two elbows at the top of the beast's head.
"Wham!!..."
On impact, the beast's head jerked downwards, the force of the blow sending a shudder through its massive frame.
There wasn't any time to waste as Mr. Lau rushed and jumped forward to deliver a devastating blow with his bulky muscular right arm.
Just a few inches before the impact with the beast hawk's chest, Leo Zhang jumped off from its head.
"Pow!!..."
On impact with Mr. Lau's fist, the beast hawk seemed to stand its ground but the force sent it sliding.
It managed to hang on by digging its huge and sharp talons into the concrete floor of the vast compound.
But it seemed the inertia created by Mr. Lau's blow disagreed with the frictional force created by the talons as deep cracks started running deep in the floor in the wake of the sliding beast hawk.
The force was so much that the talons ended up forcing out huge chunks of jagged rock from the ground.
The beast hawk lost its balance and tumbled on its back immediately.
Realizing the situation, the beast started flapping its wings to regain balance.
Just as the beast regained its balance...
