I hurried downstairs with my heart racing like wild fire..my parents have never called me like this before, literally never.
I met them downstairs sitting on the two seater chair. When they sited me my dad motioned for me to sit infront of them, which I did.
"How old are you ahlam?" My mother asked as if you don't know my age
" I'm twenty three?" I answered, more like a question.
" A family friend of ours came to seek for your hands in marriage to their son which we accepted" abi said, my heart beat dropped, I hope I'm hearing fine, marriage? No no not now-
" we realised that it is high time you get married you're old enough already" I stared at ummi with teary eyes then turned my head to look at abi
" Why did you two make this decision without my permission?" I blurted out not caring about what they would say or do, this is not fair at all.
" don't question us!" Abi snapped
" I should not question you ? After making a decision without asking for my opinion, as if it was any any of you that was going to get married off. You both call yourselves Muslims! And Islam doesn't teach us to force our children to get married against their will"
I never believed that I could talk to my parents like this, well you can't blame me. Wow, they are doing this to me, parents.
My dad stood up from the sofa throwing a vase, his jaws clenched and his fists formed balls. " leave this house now!" He ordered pointing at the door " and be back after isha"
After isha? ( night prayer) this is totally child abuse to me. Well, I couldn't care less, I need fresh air at the moment.
" I was even about to go out" I lied, to probably feel better. I threw my hijab on my head, wore my shoes and stepped out of the house without looking at any of them.
I walked in the quiet streets, how can they do this to me?....
THIRD PERSON'S POV.
" this girl is unbelievable!" Ahlam's father said as he walked back and forth in the living room "zubair calm down " her mother said trying to calm him down.
" didn't you see how she talked to us here?!" He said pointing at the door. Ganiya sighed "she will come back and apologise to us don't worry. She was just frustrated and surprised" she said caressing his back " and I don't blame her honestly, you agreed to the proposal without her kno-"
" what did you want me to do ganiya?, " He cut her short " just what, how can I turn such a big offer down? And his father is my very good childhood friend, you need to understand "
" I do understand zubair" she said picking up the broken pieces of the vase " I just feel that, you made a big mistake for not telling her about it," then dumped it in the dumpster "although it has already happened, we'll just wait for her to come back...I hope she'll be fine out there, after isha? That's too much zubair" she said the last part worried
" you can't blame me I was annoyed " He said, you could sense the guilt in his tone.
" so, should I call her to come back?" Ganiya asked Zubair.
" no" swinging his index finger " she'll be okay I know it"
*****flash back to two days ago*****
They were four on a table, each of them playing a serious game of truth or dare, but this time, a serious one to be precise.
"Truth or dare raqib" tareq asked raqib with a straight face " dare of course" raqib answered with a smirk. Tareq clapped with excitement.
" I dare you.." He stared at everyone on the table, then fixed his gaze back to raqib "I dare you to announce to your faculty tomorrow about how much you love Aisha"
Dalil and isa ooed, Dalil banged the table "good one good one!".
Raqib smiled " fair, fine. Even if I don't want to"
It was raqib's turn to ask tareq " Truth or dare tareq"
Tareq scoffed "dare for sure"
Raqib smiled at the idea in his head "I dare you to marry Ahlam" . There was a pindrop silence in the room. Then Dalil clapped " gosh, ya Allah, such a dare!"
Tareq frowned, of course he didn't want to marry Ahlam, he hated her, he bullies her, she's the last person on his list.
" fine, I'll marry Ahlam"
