The first to break free was the Six-Tails, roaring as it spewed a large quantity of highly corrosive acid in all directions.
Tailed beasts, sealed within jinchūriki, often harbored immense hatred towards humans. Upon regaining freedom, the Six-Tails' first instinct wasn't to flee but to seek revenge—to kill everyone it could see.
"Aah!"
The highly concentrated acid sprayed everywhere, and those caught in it screamed as it burned their skin. The corrosive effect was akin to being drenched in sulfuric acid; black smoke rose as skin, flesh, and bone were all dissolved away.
"Damn it!"
Seeing the horrifying scene, Gamabunta quickly backed away, cursing loudly, "Jiraiya, I'm not fighting that thing! You go fight it yourself!"
Helping in the battle was one thing, but getting up close and personal with the Six-Tails was something Gamabunta refused outright.
The acid was terrifying, and its corrosive ability was even more so. This was no ordinary opponent, after all.
However, this wasn't the worst of the Six-Tails' abilities. Under Jiraiya's shocked gaze, it sprayed out an even more lethal substance—a highly corrosive mucus, scattering it like a deadly rain.
Everyone caught within the area, be they Konoha or Kirigakure shinobi, met a terrible fate. They screamed as their bodies dissolved before their very eyes.
This is insane! Absolutely insane!
"Jiraiya, have fun with that; I'm out of here!"
The acid was frightening enough, but the mucus? There was no way Gamabunta was going to stick around. He had no interest in being melted alive, so without a second thought, he left the battlefield.
"Yagura!!!"
No wonder Kirigakure suddenly paused the fighting for several days. It was to mobilize their jinchūriki! No wonder they launched a frontal assault; it was all just a setup for the jinchūriki!
It was clear now—the jinchūriki had willingly allowed their seals to be broken and the tailed beasts to be unleashed. The reason? There was no need to think too hard—they must have been manipulated somehow. After all, shinobi had plenty of ways to brainwash their targets.
"Roar!!!"
At that moment, the Three-Tails also broke free from its seal. Unlike the Six-Tails, which attacked with a cruel yet systematic approach, the Three-Tails had no such restraint.
It raised its terrifying head and immediately began to form a massive Tailed Beast Bomb.
This is it! We're done for!
Jiraiya's face went pale, and Orochimaru's expression twisted in fury. His anger was palpable.
"Boom!!!"
Under the destructive power of the Tailed Beast Bomb, countless shinobi were instantly reduced to ashes, blown away by the incredible shockwave of the explosion.
Whether friend or foe, everyone became a target for the rampaging tailed beasts. This was why Yagura had ordered his shinobi to attack in waves rather than in one concentrated push.
The rampaging tailed beasts made no distinction between allies and enemies. At this point, both the Three-Tails and Six-Tails had only one objective—to kill every human in sight.
"Help me! No, please!!!"
"Splat!!!"
A massive tail came crashing down, and a group of unfortunate shinobi were turned into nothing but pulp. The Three-Tails and Six-Tails, filled with hatred for humanity, showed no mercy. Whether from Kirigakure or Konoha, everyone was their enemy, a target to be destroyed.
The battlefield had turned into a living hell. Numerous shinobi were killed by the two rampaging tailed beasts.
Against such overwhelming power, even Jiraiya and Orochimaru struggled to find a way to contain them. Only those with special abilities stood a chance; otherwise, not even kage-level shinobi could handle such raw, unrestrained power.
Not everyone could fight a tailed beast head-on like the Third Raikage, nor did everyone have the magnetic release abilities of the Third Kazekage to subdue them.
"Retreat!!!"
Staring coldly at the chaotic battlefield, Yagura didn't hesitate. He chose to retreat.
If they didn't retreat now, they too could become targets of the tailed beasts' fury.
Although tailed beasts didn't distinguish between friend or foe, the Three-Tails and Six-Tails would certainly harbor greater hatred for the Kirigakure shinobi. If even one Tailed Beast Bomb came their way, they'd be in serious trouble.
Since they had already decided not to recover the tailed beasts, they might as well let them wreak havoc. Most of the casualties were Konoha's anyway.
The Kirigakure shinobi? They were just bait.
As long as they could severely damage Konoha, it was all worth it.
Kirigakure's ships retreated, leaving behind the two furious tailed beasts for Konoha to deal with.
Summoning Fukasaku and Shima, Jiraiya shouted to Orochimaru, "Orochimaru, buy me some time!!!"
"Two elders, I'm counting on you."
"We know. We never imagined Kirigakure could be this insane."
Gamabunta had already fled, and Fukasaku and Shima understood what kind of enemy Jiraiya had to face.
Tailed beasts were not ordinary opponents that just anyone could handle.
"Everyone, fall back! Jonin squad, follow me!"
Orochimaru didn't waste any words. He led the jonin squad into the fray and also sent his small snakes to inform Takuya that they needed his assistance on the battlefield.
Meanwhile, far from the frontline, Takuya and Minato had no idea what was unfolding there.
Takuya, more than Minato, wasn't too concerned. He knew Orochimaru was well aware of Kirigakure's capabilities. Unless something unexpected happened, it was impossible for Kirigakure to overwhelm Konoha.
It was entirely possible that Orochimaru would turn the tables on them.
Takuya was chatting casually with Minato when a small white snake slithered out from the bushes, climbed up his leg, and anxiously hissed.
It seemed to be trying to convey something urgent.
The little snake was clearly distressed. Takuya gently flicked its head, and the snake curled up in annoyance, hissing in protest before slipping back into the underbrush.
Is that a message from Orochimaru?
Minato blinked.
Takuya smiled, getting to his feet and clapping his hands. He stretched his arms and shoulders. "Looks like our dear Orochimaru-sama has run into some trouble. Otherwise, something representing his will wouldn't be so agitated."
"Who knows. Maybe the fighting is just really intense. Kirigakure's numbers do surpass ours, after all."
Minato was just as clueless about what was happening on the battlefield.
"Give me a few minutes."
Helping out was a given, but Takuya needed to make sure things were in order at the Land of Bears first.
What Takuya didn't realize was that the battlefield had already turned into a living hell. The two rampaging tailed beasts were wreaking havoc on Konoha's shinobi.
If he knew, he might actually take his time getting there.
Following orders didn't mean he was keen on risking his life against tailed beasts. Besides, letting Orochimaru and the higher-ups suffer a bit wouldn't be the worst outcome.
Maybe then they'd stop treating people however they liked, targeting whoever they pleased, excluding whoever they didn't favor.
Only through experiencing suffering could they understand the importance of their strongest assets.
Why did Konoha decline after the Third Great Ninja War?
Wasn't it because they lost their strongest fighters while the new generation hadn't yet matured?
At that time, the Third Hokage had become so worn down that he was willing to compromise with anyone as long as it didn't endanger Konoha.
"Clan head Uchiha, the frontline situation is dire. Minato and I are heading over, so I'll leave things here in your and Mikoto's capable hands. If anything urgent comes up, Mikoto can contact me."
"Takuya, be careful. Kirigakure has a lot of shinobi. Don't take unnecessary risks."
Though she knew Takuya was very powerful, Uchiha Mikoto couldn't help but caution him, almost like a worried young wife.
This is not the time for romantic gestures.
Uchiha Fugaku's mouth twitched. He looked up at the gloomy sky.
"I haven't married you yet. There's no way I'd risk it."
Laughing, Takuya made a heart gesture toward Fugaku, as if to say, "Take care, don't disappoint me." He placed a hand on Minato's shoulder.
Minato rolled his eyes and teleported both of them out of the Land of Bears.
Watching the two vanish, Fugaku sighed, "The Flying Thunder God Technique really lives up to its reputation. Too bad its learning threshold is too high."
"Even if it weren't, the Uchiha would never get the chance to learn it."
The harsh reality hit, but Mikoto reminded Fugaku nonetheless.
There was no point in fantasizing—the higher-ups would never let anyone from the Uchiha clan learn the Flying Thunder God Technique, no matter how talented they were.
Takuya had only managed to learn it thanks to Tsunade and Minato.
Had he tried to obtain the scroll through his own achievements and contributions, there was no way the higher-ups would have allowed it.
