"Wake up. There's no future here. It's not just that you have a one-sided crush; even if you both liked each other, it wouldn't be easy to be together."
"I'm not afraid of difficulties!" Nawaki declared, clenching his fists, showing his determination.
"..."
What else can I say?
Takuya stood up and walked toward the balcony, calling out to the neighboring house.
"Hey, crazy lady, come over here. I've got something to talk about."
"No, wait!" Nawaki panicked, nearly losing his mind as he tried to stop him.
But it was too late.
"What did you just say, brat?" Tsunade's angry voice came from next door.
In a flash, Tsunade pulled open her window and jumped onto Takuya's balcony, skipping the stairs entirely.
The word "crazy" instantly triggered Tsunade's rage. She leaped from her own balcony right into Takuya's, wearing nothing but her sleepwear, fully prepared to beat him up.
How many times had she told him not to call her a crazy lady? Did she look like a crazy woman?
This was all Jiraiya's fault! He'd better watch out next time she saw him.
"Stop messing around. I have something to tell you," Takuya waved his hand, motioning for Tsunade to sit down. He wasn't in the mood for her antics.
Poor Jiraiya... hopefully, the next time they met, he wouldn't be walking around with a black eye.
As for Takuya, he was definitely the vengeful type. He'd find a way to make Jiraiya pay back.
"What's the issue?" Tsunade crossed her arms over her chest, glaring at Takuya through gritted teeth. Her look seemed to say, This better be important, or you're not getting away unscathed.
If this wasn't a serious matter, she'd deal with him first, then go after Jiraiya for that "crazy lady" insult. Takuya remembered the day Jiraiya had yelled that after getting drunk—he almost didn't live to see another day.
"Do you want to tell her, or should I?" Takuya glanced at Nawaki.
It wasn't that he enjoyed exposing people, but something like this was best if Tsunade knew. Maybe she could offer advice or even help Nawaki out.
Because when it came to this kind of thing, Takuya had no good suggestions.
If Nawaki liked a girl—even if she was from the Uchiha clan—Takuya would have fully supported him.
But the Hyūga clan? That was a different story. They were strict about marrying within the clan, even allowing cousins to marry just to keep the bloodline intact. Trying to break that tradition was like trying to tear down their entire way of life.
The entire Hyūga clan would come after you if you tried. Even the Third Hokage wouldn't joke about something like that, let alone Takuya.
Hinata and Naruto were a special case, a product of exceptional circumstances. Hiashi had abandoned Hinata at one point, and after the Fourth Great Ninja War, in which the Hyūga suffered significant losses, Naruto had become practically invincible. Only after all those events did the Hyūga agree to the marriage.
Without those factors, there was no way they would have allowed Hinata to marry outside the clan. If that had been suggested earlier, you'd be met with threats of dramatic sacrifices.
"What are you doing here?" Tsunade finally noticed her brother sitting awkwardly nearby.
"..."
Wow. The favoritism is real.
Nawaki could only silently console himself, trying not to get upset.
"I..."
He opened his mouth to speak, but the impatient look Tsunade gave him made him swallow his words. He froze, too scared to continue.
Takuya put a hand over his face.
This was too embarrassing. Was his sister really that scary?
"Fine, I'll say it." Takuya sighed. Nawaki was hopeless.
"Nawaki's got a crush on someone."
"Really?" Tsunade's mood shifted instantly. Her annoyed expression turned to surprise, and then, slowly, into pure delight.
"You actually like girls?"
Takuya: "..."
Nawaki: "..."
"No, that's not what I meant," Tsunade quickly corrected herself after realizing how her words came out. She leaned forward, her excitement obvious as she continued to press:
"What's her name? What does she look like? When can I meet her? I'll give you my approval after I meet her."
The barrage of questions left Nawaki too flustered to respond. His head hung low, avoiding his sister's gaze, unsure of how she would react once she knew the whole story.
"Cough... She's about fifteen or sixteen, and she's pretty... kind of delicate looking," Takuya chimed in, giving Nawaki a bit of help.
Alright, this is serious enough, Tsunade thought, finally relaxing. She decided to let the "crazy lady" insult slide for now.
She gave Takuya a glance that said she'd let him off the hook—for now.
After all, her brother had finally found someone he liked, which was a huge deal.
"And? What else?" she pressed.
"What's her name?"
"What does she do? Is she a ninja? Which clan is she from? Or is she from a civilian family?"
"She's a ninja... from the Hyūga clan," Takuya added, then quickly stepped aside.
"That's wonderful!!" Tsunade slammed her hand down on the table, her enthusiasm increasing.
It wasn't that she had anything against ordinary people, but two ninja parents meant a higher chance of talented children.
Tsunade always hoped that Nawaki's kids would have good ninja potential.
"I'll help you..."
She was already plotting how to arrange a meeting so she could personally check out this girl.
But just as she started planning, something felt off.
A ninja... from the Hyūga clan?
Was this a joke?
The smile on her face froze, and she glanced at Nawaki, who was still looking down, then at Takuya, who had backed away.
Don't look at me. Ask your brother.
Takuya shrugged, indicating it had nothing to do with him.
The Hyūga clan...
Tsunade's expression changed rapidly, like a performer switching masks in a Peking opera. In just a few moments, her face showed everything from joy to frustration. Nawaki, who had been sitting quietly, was so nervous his palms were sweating.
"I can't believe this..."
Several minutes later, Tsunade slumped back, exhausted.
"You really had to make things difficult for me, didn't you? Of all people, you had to like someone from the Hyūga clan?"
Surprised by her relatively calm reaction, Nawaki blinked and asked hesitantly, "Sis, you're... not mad?"
"Why would I be mad?" Tsunade asked, lightly smacking his head before leaning closer to him.
"Listen, Nawaki, I'm not against whoever you choose to be with. Though I'll admit, I'm surprised by your choice... But you have to understand, the Hyūga don't marry outside the clan. Are you sure about this?"
Moved by his sister's concern, Nawaki felt a wave of emotion.
"Sis, I'm sure. I won't back down!"
"You really are my brother. Let me think this through." Tsunade patted his shoulder, offering reassurance, though her mind was racing with how to convince the stubborn elders of the Hyūga clan.
"Ahem," Takuya, still watching from a distance, interrupted.
"I think you're getting ahead of yourselves. He's only seen her once, barely knows her name, and this is still a one-sided crush."
Tsunade, still deep in thought about her brother's future, glanced over at him, her eyes asking if that was true.
"Sis, I..."
"Get lost. You're getting all worked up for nothing," Tsunade huffed.
"I thought you and this girl had mutual feelings! And yet... it's just this?"
Frustrated, she gave Nawaki a kick, sending him stumbling, clutching his arm in pain.
"You're killing me here."
Tsunade stormed out, leaving behind a confused and dejected Nawaki, and a thoroughly amused Takuya, who was now laughing so hard he'd collapsed onto the couch.
"You traitor!" Nawaki whined.
"I can't believe you called my sister over!"
