As the sonic boom echoed through the air, Logan and the others instinctively paused their conversation and looked up. The scene gradually fell silent.
Even though they knew the figure in the sky was an ally, they still felt a sense of pressure.
Before they could ask anything, Syd spoke first. "I've cleared the sentinel robots in this city. There might be a few hiding, but not many."
So quickly? In less than an hour, and all those sentinel robots were gone? Logan and the others stared at the figure in the sky, feeling as if they were in the presence of a deity.
Syd then thought for a moment and said, "I heard you know the locations of a few military bases. Give me their coordinates."
Cyclops Scott hesitated but eventually relayed the locations to the Messiah.
As for what might happen next, that was no longer his concern; he had never been fond of the military anyway. He only wondered what Professor Xavier might say later…
While thinking this, Cyclops Scott provided all the information he knew and even took out a map from his pocket, evidently well-prepared.
Syd floated down, took the map, and glanced at the five marked locations.
"I'll head out now."
After receiving the map, Syd considered it briefly and then didn't linger. His figure floated up again.
With a whoosh, the sonic boom followed.
Shielding himself from the incoming wind blast, Logan and the others were left speechless, watching as the Messiah disappeared from view.
Seeing the disappointment on Iceman Bobby's face, Logan offered some words of comfort, "Don't worry, we'll see Syd, the Messiah, again someday."
Then, they set off together back to the X-Mansion.
At the X-Mansion entrance:
Professor Xavier, who had been waiting for a long time, finally smiled.
However, after noticing that the Messiah had vanished, he sighed.
Strangely, he had a soft spot for the Messiah, even choosing to overlook some of his more extreme actions, like the destruction of a city.
Originally, he had planned to talk with the Messiah, trying to guide him to prevent any potential loss of control, but it seemed that chance was no longer available.
"I can only hope the Messiah doesn't lose control…"
Professor Xavier Charles murmured with a sigh.
While Professor Xavier was contemplating, Syd was sitting atop a skyscraper, absorbing sunlight and examining the map.
Soon, he selected the two military bases closest to his current location.
As for the other three bases, he decided to ignore them due to time constraints, fearing the military might set up ambushes if he lingered too long.
With this thought, Syd moved to a concealed spot and activated his invisibility.
In the next second, he darted towards the marked locations on the map.
In less than fifteen minutes, he arrived at one of the sites.
Emerging from invisibility, Syd floated several meters above the solemn military base and smiled lightly.
With blue light emanating from his hands, Syd was about to release the Mystic Light Pillar when a thought crossed his mind.
"Right, there's still a lot of energy stored in the void space of the Reflective Shield…"
He recalled the energy absorbed while using the Reflective Shield to deflect missile bombardments.
"Perfect, I can save some light energy and accumulate some more energy points."
Thinking about the 74% completion of the Bardell upgrade, Syd halted the release of the Mystic Light Pillar.
With a focus, he sensed the stored energy in the void space of the Reflective Shield and attempted to harness it.
Inside the Military Base:
Several officers were dealing with tasks, while others were chatting idly.
"Damn Messiah, he's so arrogant, completely disregarding the military…"
"Once we get the chance, I'll make him pay…"
Many officers were venting their frustrations while mocking the Messiah's recent actions of destroying the sentinel robots.
"Hahaha…"
Some laughed heartily.
The officers were making light of the Messiah, assuming that nothing could touch them as he was only targeting robots.
Just then, an unusual sound filled the sky.
The officers instinctively looked up.
Their eyes widened with fear and shock as they saw a massive explosion of fiery energy in the sky.
Boom! The energy absorbed by the Reflective Shield surged forth in a torrent!
What's happening? Why is there an explosion?!
"No!"
In the horrified and disbelieving eyes of the officers, the explosion consumed them.
Boom, boom, boom…
The sound of explosions was relentless as the officers were thrown into chaos and death.
Looking down at the area engulfed by the explosions, Syd was slightly surprised.
However, he soon considered it normal. He had been bombarded countless times over the years, and the void space had absorbed an enormous amount of energy.
Whether it was explosive energy or kinetic energy…
Many missiles had exploded close to him, and the Reflective Shield had absorbed a significant portion before it was fully released.
The accumulated energy in the void space was vast under his control, and now it was unleashed.
The military base wasn't very large, so the entire base was quickly covered by explosions, consuming everything!
The officers had only time to feel terror before plunging into despair and death…
After surveying the base completely consumed by explosions, Syd shook his head and flew away, heading swiftly toward the next base.
As for this base, it was highly unlikely anyone survived.
Even a minor tremor could be fatal, let alone such an explosion…
Syd didn't believe this base would have highly fortified areas.
Even if they did, the personnel wouldn't have had time to reach them.
Soon after Syd departed, the military discovered the situation.
Using their technology, they retrieved footage of the incident.
"This is an explosion?"
"What happened?"
As they watched the explosion engulfing the entire base, countless American military officers were both shocked and puzzled, unable to understand what could have caused such widespread destruction.
"Enemy terror attack?"
The Messiah wasn't even on their radar.
After all, the Messiah didn't possess such mutant abilities; how could he be responsible?
Just as they were bewildered, someone pulled up a blurry image.
In the image, a shadowy figure in black appeared.
Who is this?!
