Chapter 9 - Chapter 138: The Confrontation between Apocalypse and Syd

Almost simultaneously, Storm, with her hands alight, unleashed a barrage of lightning bolts, sending a massive beam of lightning towards Apocalypse. Cyclops, Scott, aimed his glasses, and two red beams of laser erupted from his eyes.

Beast, with his whole body emitting a red glow, and Wolverine, Logan, extended his claws…

Boom! Boom! Boom!

A barrage of metal, lightning, and laser attacks were directed at Apocalypse.

Yet, to their and the watching audience's shock, an invisible shield repelled these attacks, remaining impervious to all forms of assault. No matter how much power Magneto, Cyclops, Storm, and the others exerted, the shield stayed firm, showing no sign of change.

Apocalypse stood calmly within the shield, his expression serene as he effortlessly withstood their onslaught.

"This is impossible!"

Magneto Erik and the others' faces changed dramatically.

At this moment, the weight of their helplessness pressed heavily upon them, causing a feeling of suffocation. No one knew better than they did that despite Erik being a Level 4 mutant, their combined efforts failed to breach the shield. The gap in power was so vast it plunged them into despair.

Not only were they stunned, but the viewers, including SHIELD and HYDRA operatives, were equally astonished.

"That's Magneto, isn't it? Even he can't break through this guy's shield?"

"Are their combined attacks less than constant missile bombardments?"

"This Apocalypse's defense seems even more terrifying than the Messiah's?"

At this point, many recalled the recent footage of the Messiah enduring missile bombardments. From previous displays, the Messiah had found constant missile attacks troublesome and even chose to retreat, while Apocalypse seemed to withstand such an onslaught without a hitch.

"Does this mean Apocalypse's power might be even greater than the Messiah's?"

Realizing this left many feeling shocked and horrified.

One minute…

Two minutes…

Gradually, Storm, feeling exhausted, and Cyclops, whose eyes were beginning to ache, had to stop. Despite his eyes being connected to a mysterious particle space that allowed for continuous laser fire, the prolonged use caused pain, forcing him to close his eyes and stop the laser beams.

Storm also ceased her attack.

Finally, only Magneto continued to manipulate metal against the shield. Occasionally, Wolverine struck with his adamantium claws, attempting to breach the invisible barrier. Unfortunately, neither he nor anyone else could break through it.

After some time, even Erik had to pause to catch his breath, and the scene fell into silence.

Everyone present was enveloped in a thick silence and despair.

"Damn it!"

"How do we break this thing?"

Wolverine Logan was the first to snap, cursing in frustration. Despite his anger, it couldn't mask his feelings of panic and helplessness.

"This is the gap between us and him…"

"I can't believe there's such a powerful mutant in the world, and one so versatile…"

Beast Hank murmured, his words echoing the thoughts of Magneto Erik, Xavier, and the global audience watching via satellite.

Seeing their cessation of attack, Apocalypse smiled faintly. "Alright, children, just stay quiet here."

With that, he raised his right hand.

In the next moment, countless grains of sand spread out from all directions, enveloping and imprisoning Logan and the others in a tight grip that left them immobile.

Combined with their exhaustion from earlier attacks, they were unable to escape the sandy confinement.

Apocalypse did not intend to kill them outright; he merely wanted to neutralize them to prevent any interference.

Moments later, Apocalypse, with Xavier in tow, began walking towards the pyramid.

Magneto Erik and the others knew exactly what Apocalypse intended to do.

"It's over…"

The consequences of Xavier's power being seized were clear to them all. They understood the formidable nature of Xavier's abilities.

As they struggled to figure out what to do next, a celestial, ethereal melody unexpectedly filled the air.

At the same time, a figure swiftly flew toward the pyramid, captured by the satellites in the sky.

"What is this?"

The divine, ethereal sound grew clearer, and the rapidly approaching figure came into view, revealing none other than Syd, who had rushed alone, leaving Agent Coulson behind.

Huh?

Apocalypse stopped in his tracks, lifting his gaze.

There, in the sky, floated a mysterious young man in black attire, his face handsome and exuding an aura of enigmatic power. He hovered silently, radiating an extraordinary presence that seemed to meld with the universe itself.

Compared to Apocalypse, who proclaimed himself a god and had blue skin, Syd appeared even more divine in the eyes of Magneto Erik and the countless viewers.

Regardless of how many times one saw it, the aura of divinity was undeniable.

Below.

Listening to the celestial music, Magneto Erik remarked in surprise, "Did you guys bring Syd here to help us?"

"We have no connection to Syd. Why would he come to help us?"

While he spoke, not only Erik but also Storm, Cyclops, and the others were puzzled and astonished. They hadn't anticipated Syd would actually come to their aid; they had initially thought it was just idle talk from Chris.

"Actually, Syd is…"

Faced with the confused stares of the others, Chris hesitated, struggling to explain.

Seeing his hesitation, Erik and the others were even more perplexed, wondering what Chris was about to reveal.

At that moment.

"You must be Syd?"

The legendary Omega mutant…

Apocalypse En Sabah Nur looked up in admiration at the floating youth.

As he looked up from the ground, Syd, gazing down from the sky, locked eyes with him. The atmosphere grew tense.

Viewers observing through satellites also began discussing.

"Wow, it really is Syd!"

Despite their astonishment, many shook their heads, doubting Syd's chances. Although Syd's power was formidable, based on previous footage where he struggled against missiles, it seemed unlikely he could match up against Apocalypse.
