Du Gubo had no other choice.
Among the entire Jade Phosphor Clan, he had the closest and deepest ties to Tang San. But now, his life was coming to an end. If he couldn't secure a remedy from Tang San to neutralize the Jade Phosphor Poison before he died, there would be no hope for his granddaughter, Dugu Yan, or any of his other descendants to receive a cure.
Yet, Du Gubo had faith that he could convince Tang San to hand over the remedy. After all, they had a deep friendship, and Du Gubo had already gifted Tang San the Ice and Fire Yin Yang Well. Considering this, it shouldn't be a big issue for Tang San to share a prescription that could save the Jade Phosphor Clan.
However, watching the broadcast of himself on screen being so confident, the Du Gubo in the streaming room felt a creeping sense of dread.
Earlier, when he saw Tang San refuse to cure his great-grandchildren's Jade Phosphor Poison without first receiving the Ice and Fire Yin Yang Well as a trade, he had already started to simmer with anger.
This anger far surpassed the frustration he'd felt when Tang San, along with Tang Hao, robbed him of all the immortal herbs in his Ice and Fire Yin Yang Well. The reason? He had been a loyal ally to Tang San, helping him multiple times, only to be brushed aside because of Tang San's greed for the well.
And this man was supposed to become a god? More like a monster!
Du Gubo realized in hindsight that he'd been utterly blind. He should have killed Tang San the moment he kidnapped him and took him to the Ice and Fire Yin Yang Well.
Yet despite everything he had done, his Jade Phosphor Clan was still destined for destruction in the future. Du Gubo could already predict the outcome.
Tang San would never give him the cure, and after Du Gubo died, his family, without the remedy for their poison, would gradually wither away.
Indeed, that's exactly what happened.
In the stream, after finding Tang San in Holy Spirit Village, Du Gubo begged him to share the cure for the Jade Phosphor Poison. He appealed to their history together, asking Tang San to give his family a chance to survive.
But Tang San, with a regretful look, sighed and refused. "I'm sorry, I have principles. The remedy for Jade Phosphor Poison is a secret passed down in the Tang Sect. I can't just give it away."
Hearing this, Du Gubo became desperate. He argued that he was an elder of the Tang Sect, and therefore should be entitled to this knowledge. If that wasn't enough, he offered to make the Jade Phosphor Clan an official vassal of the Tang Sect, just like the Four Great Clans, in exchange for the cure.
To ensure his family's survival, Du Gubo was willing to give up the Jade Phosphor Clan's autonomy entirely.
But it was all in vain. Tang San shook his head again. "I'm a man of principle," he said, adding that because the Jade Phosphor Clan hadn't officially become disciples of the Tang Sect, he couldn't share the remedy.
In truth, Tang San had no qualms about refusing Du Gubo. In his mind, Du Gubo was just an outsider who joined the sect later in life, and by Tang San's standards, he was merely an external member. Only those who had grown up within the Tang Sect and practiced the sect's secret techniques from a young age could be considered true disciples.
And the cure for the Jade Phosphor Poison was a closely guarded secret, meant only for true disciples of the Tang Sect.
Du Gubo, hearing that Tang San wouldn't even grant him his dying wish, was so furious he could spit blood. After finally seeing Tang San's true colors, Du Gubo stormed away in anger. Soon after returning to the Heaven Dou Imperial City, he passed away.
Without the cure, the Jade Phosphor Clan's numbers dwindled due to the relentless poison. Eventually, the clan was wiped out.
The broadcast ended at this moment.
Watching this, Lin Yu could only sneer. He wasn't surprised at all.
Although the exact details of the broadcast were somewhat unpredictable, Lin Yu had been right about the core cause behind the Jade Phosphor Clan's demise—it all boiled down to Tang San coveting the Ice and Fire Yin Yang Well.
Lin Yu had originally thought Du Gubo willingly gave it to Tang San after the latter became a god. But after watching the broadcast, Lin Yu realized he'd been wrong. The well was vital to the Jade Phosphor Clan, as it suppressed their poison, and Du Gubo wouldn't have handed it over voluntarily.
In the end, Tang San had simply taken it by force. Later, when Du Gubo was nearing death and begged Tang San for the remedy to save his family, Tang San coldly refused, which didn't surprise Lin Yu.
After all, this was the same Tang San who, despite calling Ma Hongjun his brother, refused to let Bai Chenxiang enter the God Realm with him, again citing his so-called principles.
Yet Tang San had dual godhood—a Sea God and an Asura God, the latter even more powerful than a first-class deity. According to The Peerless Tang Sect, a first-class god could bring two people into the God Realm. With his dual godhood, Tang San could've easily brought at least four people with him!
In the end, he only took Xiao Wu and A Yin with him. Tang Hao became a god through his cultivation, but even if you count Tang Hao, there was still room for one more.
Tang San could've easily taken Bai Chenxiang, but he didn't, hiding behind his so-called principles.
Lin Yu couldn't help but laugh at how ridiculous it all was.
Principles? Tang San? What a joke.
Who was the one who plotted against the Three-Eyed Golden Lion, tormented Huo Yuhao, and eventually, as an Asura God, descended from the God Realm to interfere with the mortal world?
Hypocrite!
But when it came to Du Gubo, things were a bit different. In Lin Yu's view, Tang San's so-called principles were just a smokescreen to cover up his theft of the Ice and Fire Yin Yang Well.
As long as the Jade Phosphor Clan was wiped out, no one would remember that the well originally belonged to them—it would become known as Tang Sect property.
But now, the truth that Tang San tried so hard to hide had been exposed.
Lin Yu could only smirk with mockery.
