On a hot afternoon,in the guild station of mercenaries located in twelfth district of the empire of Ural new and old recruits were gathering around the mercenaries guild board to see what new missions were added and were having conversations with each other in groups making the guild station's hall crowded and bustling with noise. The new recruits were contemplating on which missions were possible to carry out as they were now freshly graduated mercenaries from the academy who had yet to see the world and taking high level tasks might be a bit difficult to handle.
As people came and went out of the guild nobody noticed a young lady sat in the corner of the guild hall wearing loose fitting combat clothes and heavy combat boots, this lady had healthy tan skin with luscious thick blonde hair and an almond shaped face with delicate eyebrows and bambi upturned sparkling gray eyes with thick long lashes resting on both eyelids paired with a slim upturned nose an plumpy red lips in conclusion the lady could be said to be a beauty. this was Madoka who also graduated from the mercenary academy but only as an ordinary valet , trained in combat and to be at the command of any mercenary group she was under.
Taking a pack of compressed biscuits from her satchel she begins to munch on them while waiting for her comrades from the same mercenary group to return from accepting a mission from the guild mission board .
She couldn't take part in the group accepting the mission because of the sole reason of her being a valet and the lackey of the group. The reason she was a simple valet and not a mercenary was because she was not an "Awakened one",this term was used for people who were blessed by gods from various mythologies and beliefs to attain powers and abilities of said gods and people who were Awakened were categorized into groups of three respectively namely"the blessed", "the prophet",and "the incarnate"
The blessed are simply the Awakened who gain an ability
The prophets are Awakened ones who are blessed with abilities and are chosen as the spokesperson of gods
And finally the incarnate are people born believed to be the reincarnation of gods in human form and are held in high regards. In the empire of Ural, people like madoka who had not gone through an awakening are bound to be the mercy of the higher echelons of society. Growing up she had witnessed people around her awaken and showed off their new found abilities and wished for an awakening even if it's of a useless ability just to experience the life of an Awakened even if it was for a little while but sadly that was not but a dream of a child lost to the grasp of time.
"Hey mug rat!!!" sounded a gruff and raspy voice from above madoka who was quickly brought out to reality from her wondering thoughts only to notice a pair of combat boots in her field of vision quickly getting up she patted the crumbs off the surface of her clothes and saluted gingerly"Team leader sir!" to the man. The man known as team leader was as tall as a mountain with bulging muscles which were obvious even with loose combat clothes on ,and a face which could be said to be fairly handsome with eurocentric features of blonde hair and green eyes but that was ruined by two large ugly scars that runs along the left side of his template to his chin. This man was Allistor Reid also known as the team leader and has was an Awakened who was bestowed the gift of superhuman strength by the god SOBEK of Egyptian belief known as the god of strength and power . "I have been standing here for a while and you just sat there daydream" Allistor said in a gruff voice as he started her down from above with a look of annoyance painted on his face"sorry team leader"she said as she looked down hiding every fickle of emotion from escaping when addressing him ,"get the luggage we are heading out" he threw an order and turned to join the rest , sighing madoka gathered all of the group's belongings and hurriedly followed him to the entrance of the guild, spotting the familiar faces of the team members Allistor and madoka made their way to them and the members of the group also saw the leader and waved to get his attention "captain should we head of to start the mission now or find a tavern in town to spend the night and proceed tommorow" said a chubby man with a mole under his left eye and a smile that made his round face even rounder ,This was Wu Feng a member of the team who awakens as a forger possessing the ability to forge weapons with some materials found, blessed by the god BROKKR of Norse mythology,"All you think about is being idle you big pig" said another member of the team named Rong Ji who was Awakened in the department of speed blessed by HERMES the god of speed in Greek mythology and standing on the side were two female teammates named Fei Ling and Jai Mei who were also Awakened Fei Ling blessed by HYPNOS the god of sleep and dreams in Greek mythology possessed the ability to read and alter the thoughts of people and Jia Mei blessed by the goddess SKADE the goddess of ice and snow of Norse mythology possessed ice abilities.
Both of them stood on the side giggling at the banter happening between the two,"we go on the mission now" said Allistor as they made their way through the busy street. The group chatted happily ignoring the lone figure carrying loads of luggages behind them, Madoka already used to this treatment walked behind the group in silence perked up her ear listening in on their conversation ,"With this mission of killing a tang beast we would be able to gain enough task points and money"chirped Fei Ling who had a dreamy look on her face thinking about the payment," Yes but this type of mission is too risky so we should be careful " said Allistor in a commanding tone .
Behind them Madoka frowned upon hearing the mission chosen, because back at the guild this was one of the new missions being talked about the reason being the difficulty and the reward of it.
Tang beasts are beasts similar to bulls but are larger in build and has horns just like a stag's but more sharper and harder coupled with their tough skin which is impossible to penetrate, this makes them extremly difficult to hunt and kill and the worst part of all is that they live in large herds and the possibility of the group being trampled and impaled to death is high,the group will be finished even before getting close to one.
Well that's just peachy Madoka thought.
