Chereads / The Demonic Child / Chapter 52 - The Yang Drain

Chapter 52 - The Yang Drain

Zhang Yunyao looked at me and said, "What about you if I leave?"

"What can you do for me here?" I said impatiently.

"I can..." Zhang Yunyao said seriously.

"Forget it, just go back. If I don't come back in an hour, drive home." I said noncommittally.

But Zhang Yunyao stood there, showing no intention of leaving.

She said seriously, "Mr. Wu, you agreed to help our Zhang family move the grave because of me. Now that we're in such danger, I can't just let you face it alone. No matter what, I'm staying with you."

Seeing her determined look, knowing that I couldn't get rid of her, I simply allowed her to stay.

Then, I walked to the coffin where the noises were constantly coming from.

  I circled the coffin.

This was one of the coffins that Zhang Yunliang had the workers dig up after I left.

  Soon, I noticed a problem.

The coffin seemed to have been opened before, and the coffin nails around it were gone.

I walked to one side of the coffin and said to Zhang Yunyao, "Come and help me open the coffin."

Zhang Yunyao came over and helped me push the coffin lid.

After a while, the coffin creaked, slowly opening a gap.

A musty smell wafted out of the coffin.

I told Zhang Yunyao to hold her breath and not breathe until the coffin was fully open.

The two of us continued to push, and finally managed to open half of the heavy coffin.

The Zhang family ancestors were wealthy, and they chose the finest coffin wood.

This coffin, although a hundred years old, didn't look rotten.

But when I looked inside the half-open coffin, I was stunned.

Zhang Yunyao also dared to take a peek inside and gasped.

Because we both found that there were actually four legs inside the coffin.

I was also puzzled. I had never seen two people share a coffin.

Even if they were buried together, they would be placed in two separate coffins in one tomb.

It was impossible for two people to use one coffin.

This didn't conform to burial customs.

But when I looked closely, I quickly discovered a problem.

The pants worn by one of the people inside the coffin looked familiar.

It was camouflage clothing, the same clothes worn by one of the workers the Zhang family hired!

How did he end up in the coffin?

Thinking about this, I didn't hesitate.

After looking around, I found a pair of pliers that the workers had used, and pried open the coffin lid.

With a loud bang, the coffin lid fell to the ground.

We finally saw the situation inside the coffin.

A worker wearing camouflage clothing was lying inside the coffin, precisely on top of the corpse inside the coffin, with his mouth against the corpse's mouth.

The worker's face was pale, and his body was still trembling slightly.

The Zhang family ancestor's corpse beneath him had an eerie blush on its face.

The living person looked like a dead person, and the dead person looked like a living person.

Seeing this, I knew something terrible was going to happen.

"Yunyao, quickly help me get this worker out of the coffin. He'll be dead soon if we don't hurry," I urged.

Zhang Yunyao found a rope on the ground and handed it to me.

This rope was also used by the workers to pull the coffin out of the grave.

There were quite a few tools for opening coffins in this place, which saved me a lot of trouble.

I immediately wrapped the rope around the worker's hands, two circles around each hand.

Then, I asked Zhang Yunyao to pull with me.

With great effort, we finally separated the worker from the corpse in the coffin and pulled him out.

I placed the worker flat on the ground.

He was still alive, but he was in bad shape.

His face was pale, his body was stiff, his eyes were wide open, and his eyes were bloodshot.

Moreover, he no longer had the normal temperature of a living person.

  He was terrifyingly cold.

Zhang Yunyao saw the worker's condition and said, "Mr. Wu, how did this man end up in the coffin?"

"I don't know what your brother did after we left, but his condition is very dangerous. Your family's ancestral grave is a place where corpses are buried. After someone tampered with it, all the corpses are likely to turn into zombies. This man entered the coffin and his yang energy was consumed by the corpse. If we don't save him soon, he might not make it until dawn." I said solemnly.

"What do we do next?" Zhang Yunyao asked again.

"The workers are probably all in these coffins. We have to get them all out. If any of the corpses absorb enough yang energy from the living people, they will turn into zombies. By then, not only will these workers die, but we won't be able to escape from here alive." I said.

"Then quickly open the coffins. Saving lives is urgent." After hearing my words, Zhang Yunyao became anxious.

I didn't rush to open the coffin.

Instead, I took out a handful of glutinous rice from my bag and stuffed it into the worker's mouth.

He had been drained of his yang energy by the corpse, and he might also be infected with corpse poison.

To be on the safe side, I had to do this.

Then, I looked at the corpse in the coffin again and found that it was an old man.

His face had a faint blush, and his nails seemed to have grown a little, about three or four centimeters, but he hadn't fully turned into a zombie yet.

This situation could still be saved.

I took out a pre-prepared coffin-suppressing talisman from my bag and stuck it on the forehead of the corpse to prevent it from suddenly turning into a zombie.

Then, Zhang Yunyao and I walked to the next coffin and opened it.

As expected, there were also two people in this coffin, similar to the situation in the previous coffin.

We repeated the same procedure and pulled the corpse out of the coffin.

We opened all the coffins in one breath.

All the workers were inside, and we pulled them out one by one.

  But I was puzzled.

Among the people in the coffins, I didn't find Uncle Huzi.

Zhang Yunliang and all the workers were found, but only Uncle Huzi was missing.

  Where did he go?

This made me worry. If anything happened to him, I wouldn't be able to explain to my master.

But I didn't have time to think about it now.

I quickly said to Zhang Yunyao, "Go back home and get some things."

  "What things?"

"Go to the kitchen and get some vinegar. Then, get some black ash powder from the bottom of the pot. Go quickly and come back soon." I urged.

Zhang Yunyao nodded, knowing the seriousness of the matter.

   She didn't dare to delay.

She walked towards the parking lot, but suddenly turned back and said sincerely, "Mr. Wu, thank you. If it weren't for you, our family would be finished."
