INES
It was only a matter of time before a meeting would be called in my name. The board—who had been looking for any excuse to push me out—was slowly getting what they needed. I had to act quickly, before things spiraled beyond my control, to a point where I couldn't manage the fallout.
A soft knock on my door pulled me from my thoughts. I paused for a moment, knowing that if the person had made it past my secretary without any trouble, they were someone I'd welcome.
A few seconds later, the door opened, and Ines stepped in. She gave a slight bow out of respect before settling into the chair across from me. "You sent for me, ma'am?" she asked, her tone polite but expectant.
