Even after the event, Renee had been so busy at the office that I hadn't had the chance to congratulate her on the incredible work she had done so far. My initial plan was to whisk her away for a weekend trip, a getaway that would allow us to escape the grind of everyday life. I imagined taking her out for breakfast, lunch, or dinner—anything to help take her mind off the stress of work and the endless scheming that seemed to consume her thoughts.

As I stepped out of my car, my eyes caught sight of the sleek black Mercedes parked in the garage. The sight made my heart race with a sudden excitement. She was home. However, when I walked into the living room, my breath caught in my throat. There she was, looking stunning, her perfect makeup accentuating her features.
