Chapter 23 - He's Your Son Too!

The next morning, Barney was told by Mike and Axel what had happened to Daren the night before. They tried to explain carefully so that he wouldn't go into a rage, but in the end it was still the same.

"WHAT?! HOW CAN HE GET OUT OF YOUR WATCH?!" asked Barney in a high tone of voice, even with a loud yell.

"I'm sorry, Master. I left young master for a while to go to the bathroom, when I came back, young master was gone. Even one of his shoes was left near the car. That means Noah Oliver kidnapped him by force," explained Axel, who fabricated the actual incident.

He and Mike had deliberately done it so that Daren wouldn't get angry from his father if he found out that Daren himself had asked Noah to meet him last night.

"Master, this is a kidnapping committed on the young master. The man named Noah Oliver should be arrested immediately for what he has done," Mike said.

"I know that, but none of this would have happened if that kid hadn't been looking for trouble!"

BRAK!

Barney pounded the table loudly in anger. Mike and Axel exchanged glances because even at a time like this, Barney still had time to blame his own son.

He continued to say that Daren was the one who was looking for trouble, so the trouble came to him and this was the consequence of his actions.

Axel understands that and he himself does know what really happened. But he couldn't get over Barney's reaction.

"I'm sorry if I was too presumptuous, master. But your son was almost abused by an irresponsible Alpha. An Alpha who could have even put your son in a life and death situation. But you still have time to blame your son who is a victim in this matter?" asked the bodyguard who felt that it was not right.

A family member, even his own son was victimized in such a serious matter, but he was blaming the victim?

"Then what do you want me to do? Expose it to the media that my son was victimized? Let them know the Wyne family's bad reputation?" the head of the Wyne Family asked back.

"You're more concerned with your family's good name than justice for your own son? Prosecuting Noah Oliver for what happened to your son, is it that difficult?" Axel took a step forward from where he was to say that.

Mike knew Axel had a point, but he shouldn't have said something like that that would anger Barney further.

"Mr. Axel, you shouldn't have said that," he said softly while touching the bodyguard's arm.

"I know, it's just that--"

"Enough! You only work for me to look after that brat! And you failed to do so this time until all this happened! So you better shut up and get out of my room before I change my mind and fire you!" said Barney who did not accept Axel's comments.

Of course the Alpha bodyguard was speechless after hearing that threat. On the one hand he couldn't accept his master's uncaring reaction, even to his own biological son.

But on the other hand, Axel also couldn't just lose his job. He still needed that job for his survival and something that he had brought to the place in the first place.

"I understand."

As Mike and Axel were about to leave their master's study, a blonde woman opened the door to the room with a serious expression.

A very beautiful looking woman, her hair was wavy with beautiful brown eyes.

"I heard that Daren was abused by an actor of his acquaintance who went viral with him, is that true?" asked the woman who was none other than the mistress of the house.

"Madam Viona, it's very true. Young master is getting the short end of the stick! And..."

Before Mike could finish speaking, Barney interrupted them again by blaming Daren. Cornering his own son who was the victim of the incident.

Hearing her husband's words, Viona, who had always been quiet and compliant, became very upset. She knew Daren was always causing trouble and sometimes she was sick of it. But she didn't think it was her son's fault.

"What the hell are you saying, Barney? You're blaming our son for being the victim in this?!"

"All because he's an Omega! He's causing trouble because he doesn't know where he belongs!" Barney scolded Viona.

There was an argument that Mike had never seen before. He immediately pulled Axel out of the room, letting the couple settle the matter.

"You better go and see the young master. I'm sure he'll feel safer with you."

The dark-haired Alpha nodded his head and headed up the stairs to Daren's room.

In the man's room, Axel saw Daren sitting quietly on his bed. He'd canceled all his filming because he didn't want to meet anyone else first.

Daren knew this would have a huge impact on his career, but last night's events really made him not want to leave the comfort and safety of his room.

Seeing the Omega become quiet was enough to make Axel feel strange because Daren was not usually so quiet.

"What's the matter? A dog bit your tongue and you've been quiet ever since?" Axel asked in a teasing tone.

Usually it was Daren who did that to him, now it was his turn to do so.

"Huh, no! How could a dog bite my tongue!" he replied with a frown.

"Then why are you so quiet, huh? You look like someone who's just about to face your death." He walked over to him then stood by the bed while folding his arms.

"What's wrong with me being quiet? I talk a lot, you complain. I keep quiet, you complain, what do you want?" Daren's blue eyes glanced at Axel who was standing nearby.

Axel admitted that Daren was indeed very noisy, annoying and unruly. He even wanted to throw the Omega into the middle of the ocean.

Hearing all that, he turned his face away in annoyance as he grumbled about what Axel had said about him. However, suddenly his head was touched by the Alpha which made him gasp in surprise and look up.

"But seeing you like this, it feels so weird," he said.

Daren's heart was suddenly beating very fast, the man's hand gently rubbing his head. Strong, warm hands. Hands that always protected him.

The blond man tugged at the hem of Axel's shirt and looked into his eyes. Staring at him as if begging him not to betray him either.
