wase atmosphere outside the carriage was bright with sunlight, and the blur subsided from the moment the sun rose
Inside the carriage.
The atmosphere inside was quite awkward, Fort, Stella, and Ignis didn't talk to each other
"... "
Stella, Ignis, and Fort were silently taking in the breathtaking scenery, with Stella gazing out the window and Ignis wondering how to kick-start a conversation.
Noticing the quiet, Ignis decided to break the ice and turn the moment into a lively chat. "Ehemm," Ignis cleared his throat, trying to catch their attention. With the others now looking at him, Ignis turned to Fort and asked, "Are you from Caligo?"
Upon hearing Ignis' question, Fort carefully contemplated his response. Sharing the truth about his origins could lead to potential trouble with the Church. After a brief pause, he decided on a playful fib, "No, I'm not from Caligo. I just arrived there a few days ago; I'm from uhh... England."
Fort's claim about hailing from a place called England left Ignis and Stella looking at him with wide-eyed disbelief. "What is that?" Stella inquired, her curiosity piqued.
"It's uhh... a country," Fort replied, trying to mask his nerves. As questions continued to flow, he joined in, "Ah, yes, it's like an empire," doing his best to appear nonchalant.
As the carriage journey continued, they passed through a grand gate that transported Fort back to memories of Óbidos City in Portugal, feeling awe at the sight of Misthaven. The lively city streets, bustling with people and shops, stirred excitement in Fort. The grand cathedral at the city's heart, alongside other architectural marvels, left him truly captivated.
The castle was built precisely beside the grand cathedral. While the cathedral itself was astonishing the castle was more amazing.
Amidst the charming cityscape, a gigantic clock captivated Fort's attention, its design reminiscent of the beloved Big Ben in London. Engrossed in absorbing the surroundings, Fort noticed the swift movement of a steam train, its speed defying expectations.
Witnessing the splendid sights, savoring the delectable food, and admiring the exquisite fashion, Fort could hardly contain his joy. It was evident to him that he had been transported back to the vibrant Victorian era, brimming with its unique charm and grandeur. As the carriage came to a stop. It stopped right in front of the cathedral.
"This is our stop," Ignis said to Fort
Fort, Stella, and Ignis got out of the carriage, and then the carriage drove away.
They then went inside the cathedrals
...
inside the cathedral
In a large room in the cathedral, a priestess was sitting in a chair, she sitting next to other six people who are sitting. In front of them was a round table with stars and sun symbols in it.
The other people sitting started to talk.
They discussed the incident in Caligo village, which killed about 17 people.
"The Chaos was more transparent about their actions. " One of the men sitting there spoken
"It's not only The Chaos can break the cycle of death" Another was telling his opinion.
Other people in there cannot ignore his opinion because that is true.
Not only one organization can bring the undead to the world.
The youngest of them all speak. "That is true, not only The Chaos can bring The dead back, but The witches of calamity can also bring the dead"
While the others discussed who was responsible for this incident, the priestess who was listening from the start suddenly felt a dizziness in her head before her eyes wide open.
The other elders see that and know the priestess receiving a revelation from The Sanctuary of Light.
Her eyes filled with light symbols for a few seconds before they quickly faded. "What do you see? " Question every other elder asks.
The priestess was hesitant to give them the news. She sighs before finally telling them the revelation.
"I saw this city filled with mysticism, burning everywhere while evil spirit creatures roamed the city...
when I looked up at the sky
The sky was filled with dark creatures with angel-like manifestations, they held musical instruments and flew around a giant hand. The hand came from the sky, filled with eyeballs; its shape was like nothingness, and the sky was filled with darkness.
After the hand touched the edge of the cathedral roof, a bright light illuminated the entire city but... after that,"
"darkness was all that remained."
Hearing this revelation news, every other person in that room has disbelief in their face.
"Is it the end? " One of the youngest asked
"No... It will not be" Others answer
"We will do everything in our power to prevent this from happening," The elder said.
After that, everyone in that room continued the discussion to stop this apocalypse from happening in Misthaven.
The priestess goes to her room in tears, seeing many innocent dead; it is not normal for an ordinary girl. But she needs to do it for the sake of everyone.
...
Inside the cathedral.
In front of the palace, there is a statue of Ravalus, a follower of the God of Light And Punishment. Ignis introduced Fort to the god of this city. While they do that, an unknown voice greets Ignis.
"So you have come back" His voice was not very clear but Fort understood what it meant
Fort and Ignis look at the voice direction. In that direction appears a man in his 30s walking with a Gothic appearance. His face was pale and looked not too good.
"Mr Alaric," Ignis said
Mr Alaric nodded and then asked questions to Ignis, "And.. Who's this gentleman" Ignis then introduced Fort as a New believer.
Hearing Ignis explanation, he nodded and then walked away; when he was already leaving, Fort asked Ignis, "Who's that ?"
Heard Fort question Ignis then answered "Ah you see my family has dedication to the church, and Mr Alaric was someone the church sent to my family to protect my family"
"He also is my mentor and teaches me how to fight with and without a sword" Ignis explains
Fort then nodded while walking, ignis then explained about this cathedral "This is Revalus Cathedral, the cathedral built by Revalus the First Sortilegium Revelation"
"There were plenty of other cathedral gods of light, but this is the only Cathedral built by him," Ignis explained with confidence in his face.
Fort then nodded and then realized Ignis's words, "Sortilegium what? " Fort asked.
"It's uhh." Ignis was confused about how to explain it to Fort. Amid Ignis' confusion, Stella immediately interrupted their conversation. "It's not your business".
" Alright " Fort responded
Ignis and Fort, Followed by Stella, continued walking further into the Cathedral. While they were walking, Ignis talked to Stella, "I thought you didn't care about these new followers." Ignis toyed with Stella; Stella then reacted to Ignis' questions with a sigh. " It's just coincidence...
I have another reason why I came here," Stella answered.
Stella rushed passing Fort and Ignis walking further away, Ignis then Whispered to Fort "It must be because of her sisters"
"Her sisters? " Fort asked
"Uhh yeah.. Her sister was a priestess here" Ignis answered.
Ah so that's why she was here " But their story was a bit sad" Ignis said
"Why is that" Fort asked
"Well... Her sister was dragged here by the pioneer without her own will, so Stella became one of the pioneers in this Cathedral just to meet her sisters," Ignis explained.
Once again, Fort heard about something he didn't understand."what is a pioneer? ". heard Fort questions. Ignis finally tells him something.
" So.. pioneers were people like us, working below the cathedral and the empire; we have jobs to discover mystical threats. We are allowed to use forces if necessary " Ignis said
"If you want to know more details, you'd need to join us" Ignis explain
Is it that easy? Fort thought this power below the cathedral should be hard to get into because of how powerful they were, but maybe they needed more manpower.
"Is it that easy? " Fort asked
"Well usually yes, but even though they usually accept everyone who wants to join, they still looking for the best inside of many people" Ignis explained
"What if they betrayed the cathedral? If they were a spy from the cathedral enemy? "
"... " Ignis was silent for a few minutes before answering Fort's questions
"Even though it's easy to join pioneers, it's not so easy to get out"
"There was a case of a spy from another organization, after running from the cathedral for 3 days straight he eventually died in a horrible condition" Ignis explain
Horrible condition.. "How bad is the condition he's in? " Fort asked.
"His body was split into two parts"
Wow, it's making others think twice before placing their spy on the pioneers.
While his hands were shivering because of Ignis's story, Fort's mind still thinking about the consequences of him joining the pioneers.
"Don't worry the house will be covered by the Pioneers so everything except food, clothing, and furniture was taken care of by the pioneers" Ignis explained
That's almost everything.
"So.. Are you considering joining" Ignis asked
Who wasn't going to join after you told them that the other people leaked information about pioneers was cut in risk! It's Not like I gonna tell about pioneers, but I don't like risk. Anyway, this is where I can make some silver coins.
"How's the payment? " Fort asked
Ignis then thought about a few seconds before answering "The payment usually depends on your position, but if you doing a great job maybe you can get bonuses"
Alright, good.. Fort then agreed to Ignis's invitation to join the Pioneers, and Ignis told Fort that he could sleep at the house the Pioneers provided. Ignis then gives him the address of the house.
...
Outside the Cathedral
Fort then looked at the piece of paper with the address Ignis gave him. Waiting for a, carriage, Fort thought about his potential in this world, he knew it wasn't going to be easy since his enemy would have to be mystical creature or even someone like Madam Mourch.
Looking at the other side of the road Fort noticed someone with fairly long hair for a man; he also wore gothic clothes and held a pendant. walked into an alley before another person out from the alley
Ignoring that, Fort stopped a carriage and showed the driver the address Ignis Gave him. Then the carriage runs through the city before finally stopping at a house not far from the cathedral, the house is not to big but not to small either.
Opening the door Fort was greeted by a very empty place but fortunately, there are still mattresses available, a few books on the bookshelf. Locking the door and Lying on the bed, fort thought about his first job in this world will it be dangerous? His head were filled with questions and determination.
Before finally he falls asleep
