Someone knocked on the door. Rexim's body slightly shakes for hearing the knocking sound with no expectation. He hissed and whispered in sad mood, "I have told Sima not to distract me. What is it that she cannot wait". Then he walked to the door, trying to open. He cannot believe what he saw after he opened the door. As he halt, looking at the small creature standing by the door with frowned face.
"Sorry Dad", sounded Meil with her dulcet voice.
In fortress, Rexim closed his eyes and open them again. "Meil! Didn't Sima tell you anything?"
And Meil looked back and forth, thinking before she answered, "if I should remember, she tell me nothing father".
And Rexim looked at her again.
"I am serious father. She didn't tell me anything. Do you want me to do something?"
"Why are you not in your bed now? There's school tomorrow. Didn't I warned you for late sleeping?"
And Meil frowned her face. "Sorry father. I went to bed but I couldn't feel sleepy. So I came to see how you are doing?"
For Meil's audacious words made Rexim smiled and from that, he changed his mood. "Come here now. My valiant little cute girl", he sounded gladly and picked her up on his shoulder. "Where should we go now?"
"I thought to my room father", answered Meil with smiled on her face.
And Rexim looked at her. "Are you sure?" He asked.
"Yes father".
"Then let's move on", sounded Rexim again. And he walked with her to her room.
As they entered the room, he carefully walked and get her lie comfortably in the bed. Then he sat besides her, rubbing her hair in benignly.
Some minutes later, Meil was still awake. Whilst Rexim was sitting besides her, trying to make her sleep. "What did you take today my child? It's 12:00 now. You should ...".
"Sorry father. It's not my fault".
"Do not worry my dear. Go on, will story tales works?" Asked Rexim with smile as he was smoothly rubbing her hair.
"Yes father", she answered and placed her head comfortably in the pillow. Then she added, "oh yes father! Yesterday I had a dream of you and Mom. She was smiling while holding my hand".
As Rexim smiled. "Your mother was always happy dear. And you have inherited much from her habits and behaviors".
"She looks like me?"
"Yeah, maybe you doesn't", answered Rexim with compassionate.
As Meil's face changes.
And Rexim smiled. "You did. You're the only one from your mother and she's your goddess. You have resembled her in many ways. I cannot tell you how much".
And Meil smiled. "You're also great father. And you also resemble me", she sounded with cute smile.
And Rexim laughed. "My dear, parents doesn't resemble their children. Children does. Have you understand?"
"Hmm! I do father".
"Very good".
"But you misses her dad?"
Rexim exhaled the air with stridor before he uttered, "your mother is one among millions. The woman I ever met in my life. She was so jubilant, intelligent, brave and ... My prankster".
"What did mother says in her last wish?"
"She ought me to always keeps the family happy and raise the light of our home even in her absence".
"Have you promise her anything?"
Rexim sat comfortably before he inhaled the air again with stridor, "hmm!". Then he added, "like in our previous time, I promised her that I should always keeps you safe and never let the smile depart from this cute face", as he cling her nose in kind.
"Father! Are you happy? I mean with the way of our lives now?"
"I am always... Happy dear".
"But sometimes you keep silence and little worried".
"Meilnifier! I have seen the life through your mother and through myself, then you. It's not so easy to live alone, especially if you taste the better company of your fellow. Anytime I went to sleep, I used to remember how your mother lain me down as I do you. Whenever I was upset, your mother will bend my head on her shoulder. She pleases me since when we are in college as she teaches me how to smile and jokes".
"You never know how to have fun father?"
"Not so sure my dear. You know an officer like me, i know nothing other than my damn duty".
"Oh father! Damn", said Meil as she closed her mouth.
"Don't copy me Meil. It's not good, sorry I said it. But I am angry with the job, what else will I say?"
And Meil laughed. "Father, is it not your choice?"
Rexim looked at her and utter, "what, my life?"
"No, the job".
"Nope dear. I have never had a dream of being a millitary man let alone a government security agency. I have grown up having a zeal of being a scientist. Although destiny aroused at my side and couldn't let me fulfill my ambition. So have I".
"Wow father. But your life was so good by then?"
And Rexim kindly bent to her before he sounds, "so great than yours dear. Don't worry, you'll have a good life like mine. I promised you this".
"Thanks father".
"My sweet dearest!".
"So, you and mother first meet at college. How was your first time at college?" Asked Meil in excitement, trying to raise up.
And Rexim held her back. "lie down my child" and he added, "ours is a long story dear. And not of your age I can tell. Come on, tomorrow is school. I will tell you something about your mother when you get old okay. Good night".
And Meil sounds, "good night father".
"Good night my dear" uttered Rexim with smile on his face. Then he stood up and switch off the lights of the room before he walked out. And then he walked back to his room. After he entered his room, he kindly sat in the chair. It was Sia's photos captured with him on the desk that's besides the bed. His heart keeps beating fast. Silently he picked the photos, keeps his eyes on it strictly. Like a dream, he feels someone's hand on his shoulder and he turned. Sia was sitting besides him as she was giving him a cute smile with her beautiful appearance. And Rexim was still looking at her. Tears broken from her eyes and she bent her head on his shoulder. And they continue looking at the bright light of the moon that surrounded the room.
