When the meeting ended, I, like the other Guardians, headed for the exit. Unlike the rest, however, I wasn't planning to return to my quarters. There was someone I needed to speak with—someone I might not get another chance to approach for quite some time.
After leaving the room, I leaned against the nearest windowsill, deciding to wait. Minutes stretched on, but eventually, the Guardians and elders left, one by one. Finally, she appeared.
Alea Elvestone, Third of the Twelve Circle Knights. Her presence, as always, exuded an air of calm authority. The faint smile on her lips was equal parts kind and mocking, a subtle reminder that her very existence could unsettle anyone in her vicinity.
Her gaze immediately settled on me.
– Were you waiting for me, Lucius?
I straightened from the windowsill and offered a slight bow.
