Chapter 9 - -An Unexpected Meeting

A few days have passed since I visited my parents for the first time. During such time, I spent most of it exploring the parts of the Mansion that I had missed on my first day. The first room that I explored was what I supposed was Alicia's study.

I found countless books containing magic knowledge that looked to be completely untouched. Like I understood that Alicia didn't really care about magic, but having this kind of knowledge at your fingertips and never using it was completely absurd.

The first thing I did was read the book containing the basics of fire magic. Using magic in this world required no incantations and just like it was in the game, if you reached a high enough proficiency with magic, you could use Chantless magic.

The fastest kind of magic that could be cast almost instantly.

In the game, Alicia could still do that without ever taking her studies seriously, so if I was to practice diligently there was no telling to what I could do with Chantless Magic.

After grabbing multiple of the magic textbooks out of the study, I went out to the backyard to practice some spells.

Since I was still a beginner, when it came to using magic, I decided to use buzzwords instead of skipping straight ahead to Chantless Magic.

Buzzwords are keywords that make imagining that form of your magic easier. Using magic is based on the mind's ability to create the form in their head and releasing it using magical power or Mana.

For example, if one wanted to create a lance covered in flames, a short and easy buzzword to use is "Flame Lance."

A few moments later, an orb of fire morphed into a long lance. The steel red lance was covered in fire and warmed my hand as I grabbed it out of the air. This kind of magic was called materialization. Physical Magic was the most basic kind of magic one could learn, and one wasn't required to imagine much.

Pretty much if you knew what a lance looked like and you knew what a flame looked like, it wouldn't be hard to create that level of magic. Of course, the more powerful mages will add commands to basic magic such as that.

Commands are actions that the magic can take once formed. This required immense control over your Mana in order to do such as creating a command such as "Burst" or "Explode" had plenty of opportunity to backfire.

Creating magic from a structure that was easy to comprehend was the easiest kind of magic to create, after all.

The most difficult and most powerful form of magic was called Diffusive Magic.

This kind of magic created spells that had no entity and were born from one's imagination alone. Not only that, it was also difficult to create buzzwords for diffusive magic.

This led to most of only the best magicians being able to cast diffusive magic and those who could were celebrated beyond anyone.

However, that was because Alicia had never tried.

As I squinted my eyes at the narrow tree at the end of my backyard, I gauged the range between me and the target.

Freya stood anxiously to my side as I slowly closed my eyes. In my mind, there was a massive sun that crashed upon the world, burning everything to a crisp.

After I created my image of the sun, I shrunk it until it was nothing but the size of a marble, but still held the destructive power that it had before. As I inhaled a deep breath, I felt the pours of my skin pour out mana.

The mana all circulated in my palm as I held my slender arm out toward the distant tree. A small orb of red-hot flames formed within my hand, and I using the force of my mana, I pushed it out of my hand. This was the twenty-third time that I had attempted this skill.

"Inferno,"

The red, fiery orb flung itself forward until it made contact with the distant tree. What immediately followed was an eruption of fire that burned the tree to nothing but ashes. I swiftly turned to Freya and jumped into her, to which I accidentally tackled her.

"Freya, I did it!"

The maid was surprised by my sudden action, but she only exchanged a warm smile for me before speaking in a playful tone.

"Your so amazing, Young Lady!"

I couldn't help but feel embarrassed by my impulsive actions and quickly rose from her and pulled her up with a light blush tinting my face.

"Quiet You."

Freya only slightly giggled before she spoke once more.

"Young Lady, I did mean it when I said you were amazing. That is not a simple spell to pull off."

Freya's soothing tone did make me feel accomplished, but I still understood I had a long way to go.

That was only the most basic of Diffusive Magic, Inferno, and it was definitely at its weakest level.

I still had to improve a lot more if I wanted to be the villainess that could embarrass the heroine. Speaking of which, I was reminded about the teacher that my parents said they would be arranging.

My father explained that he would be sending one over in three days, and it had been exactly three days since that day.

I wondered when that Magic Instructor my father had chosen would show up.

With the feeling of being stuck at a particular level, I suddenly became more enthusiastic about having a teacher.

Even though Alicia was an unparalleled talent, it was still difficult for me to make use of the talent even though I had the knowledge from the game.

However, as my mind raced on these factors, I noticed a young boy floating in the wind above my head.

His long blue hair was tied into a neat ponytail and his eyes looked like I was staring into the ocean. His fair skin was beautiful, and he looked like a picture-perfect model from my past life.

More importantly, he was using flight magic! That was an extremely difficult magic that only a handful of mages within the Royal Capital could learn. The more insane thought was that this boy looked to be around the same age as me.

As we made eye contact with each other, he slowly floated downwards until his feet touched the ground right in front of me. Freya attempted to get in between us, but I stopped her by outstretching my arm in order to block her path.

Suddenly, the boy smiled, and I felt my heart flutter as we traded gazes. This boy was truly beautiful, and I was so lost in my mind that I was unsure of even what to say.

The boy was the first to act when he brought his arm behind his head as he spoke with a playful, closed-eyed smile. His rich tone filled the silence and my heart with warmth as his beautiful blue hair floated on the breeze.

"Excuse me miss, but could you possibly be Alicia Stardust?"
