Chapter 136 - 398

The 76th Academy Awards was a success. Most people were satisfied with the results. The Lord Of The Rings was now recognized as one of the best Fantasy movies of all time and it garnered so many fans worldwide.

These fans would surely roast the Academy members alive if they shut their eyes at the impact that Lord Of The Rings created in the history of cinema.

The Lord Of The Rings deserved the Best Director and Best Picture Awards. Especially when the Academy Awards had snubbed them since 2001.

The Lord Of The Rings had 11 nominations, and it also won 11 categories. The movie was the biggest winner that night.

Pirates Of The Caribbean: The Curse Of The Black Stone had 5 nominations but unfortunately, the movie won nothing.

As for the other movies that got nominated, the best they could win was one or two categories.

Kazir left the ceremony after that. He didn't bother attending the after-party.

In fact, Pirates Of The Caribbean also had an after-party despite winning nothing. However, Kazir already predicted that the party won't be lively. Perhaps some people would only attend.

Some reporters stalked Kazir to the parking lot, asking him why Angelina Jolie didn't attend the Academy Awards with him. Kazir didn't answer them and entered his car instead... He didn't answer them because he also didn't know the answer. The contact between the two ceased after that.

Both of them had pride and they couldn't swallow their pride to call one another.

The reporters couldn't get an answer from him. The car left the place.

...

...

...

Kazir knew that he had to adjust the plot of some movies to accommodate them to Continental Cinematic Universe. It was a decision he had to make.

One of the movies was obviously The Fast And The Furious Franchise. This franchise was worth more than a billion dollars in his past life. He knew the potential of this franchise. So he intentionally added it to the CCU, even buying the magazine article that was based on the first movie. Just to make sure that he would be safe from a lawsuit.

Knowing the potential of the Fast and the Furious, Kazir also knew the weakness of this franchise.

To be precise, the second and third movies of Fast and the Furious.

The second had a strong connection since Brian O'Connor(Paul Walker) and Roman Pearce(Tyrese Gibson) were part of the overall franchise. However, its plot didn't connect much to the CCU.

As for the third movie which was titled Tokyo Drift, this movie basically had no connection at all. Except for Han Lue's(Sun Kang) and Dom Toreto's (Vin Diesel) short cameo at the end of the movie.

Although Kazir couldn't deny that Han Lue's death on Tokyo Drift created a massive plot for the franchise to take advantage of. He also liked how it connected Tokyo Drift to the overall plot.

But Kazir was not impressed. In his opinion, he had to erase the Tokyo Drift in the CCU since this movie had no relevance at all... The movie showed the true definition of street racing though.

At first Fast and the Furious was all about racing until it became sci-fi shit about cars going to outer space. Tokyo Drift showed the true essence of Fast and the Furious which was street racing.

So instead, Kazir decided to make Fast and the Furious 2 also known as 2 Fast 2 Furious revolved around Brian O'Connor and his new partner Roman Pearce unraveling the secret of a cartel that was working with the High Table... Yeah, Kazir was having a mental block. He couldn't deny it.

That was the reason why he hired a team of writers anyway. He understood his ability very well, making stories out of scratch was not his forte.

As for Fast and the Furious: Tokyo Drift, he had to skip this movie. Its relevance to the Fast and the Furious franchise was small. Its relevance to the CCU was smaller... Unless he could come up with a unique plot that would make Tokyo Drift relevant.

By the way, the theme song of Tokyo Drift was actually fire... A factor that Kazir was reluctant to erase.

Kazir already gave the director position to Justin Lin to take care of the Fast and the Furious franchise. The Taiwanese director was happy. Having steady projects in Hollywood was not that easy, especially for someone like him who didn't have any foothold in the industry.

2 Fast 2 Furious already started filming eight months ago and the project is in the post-production stage. Even the promotion was ongoing, with the help of 20th Century Fox.

The movie was expected to be released in April. 20th Century Fox was the distributor of the movie but it didn't mean that they had to prioritize 2 Fast 2 Furious. After all, 20th Century Fox also had its own movies to release. Besides, the Fox management was disappointed that Kazir formed a cooperation with Warner Brothers. Perhaps this was their way of getting revenge, putting 2 Fast and 2 Furious on a non-popular schedule such as April.

To be fair, April was not that bad. It was the last month of the school year so cinemas were already lively at that time
