The party was not that super extravagant. In the first place, they would only stay in this place for at least an hour. They were just waiting to announce the nominations. There were few fruits to munch on and drinks to get tipsy.
Most of the personalities who attended the gathering were part of the movies that have strong contenders to get nominated. Golden Globes might be one level lower than Academy Awards but it was still a prestigious institution.
Tom Cruise already won true Golden Globes. Most of the time, the Golden Globes was like the People's Choice Award.
Golden Globes prefer artistic films just like the Academy Awards but the winners and nominations could be influenced.
The voters who decide the winners are all entertainment journalists for recognized media organizations... So yeah, could be bribed, also.
Kazir and Tom didn't forget this Award ceremony, they also spent some time and money to convince people so that they get nominated.
CAA, Grey Pictures, Tom's PR Team, and even 20th Century Fox joined forces. 20th Century Fox was the current distributor of The Revenant and they would be happy if the movie got awards, which could increase the box office and videotape sales. Another reason was that 20th Century Fox was trying to earn brownie points from Kazir.
If Kazir won the Best Director Award, he might agree with 20th Century Fox.
So far, the highest bidder was Sony-Colombia, with worth of $2.70 billion for 30% of Grey Pictures. Kazir was waiting for next year to make a decision.
Since Kazir and Tom attended the gathering, their partners were also with them.
Angelina Jolie was sitting next to Kazir while Penelope Cruz was next to Tom Cruise... Now that I thought of it, Tom and Penelope's surnames were almost the same.
The two women seemed in a good relationship, there was no reason to be mad at each other. They even talked about going shopping this weekend.

Perhaps Kazir never took the Golden Globes seriously.
"But this time I believe we have a chance," Tom said to him and Kazir nodded. Their movie and performance this time was better... The fact that Taken won the Best Actor and Best Original Screenplay was very baffling. Well, it was true that the movie influenced a positive movement in society so it deserved to win the awards.
And this time, Kazir and Tom prepared. They didn't mind spending money as long as they got their long-awaited awards. The two were rich anyway.

The four saw a tall and beautiful woman approaching their table... It was none other than Nicole Kidman.
Tom Cruise kept his jovial smile but it was clear that he didn't like the fact that Nicole was getting closer.
"Our divorce just recently ended and now you're already dating someone." Nicole smiled. She was also here to hear the nominations.
"Nicole, we already divorced. I'm allowed to date whoever I want."
"I'm not even sure if you stayed loyal to me before we divorced. I'm sure you already met this woman before our divorce."
Nicole Kidman was here for her role in The Hours as Virginia Woolf. The movie had a chance to get nominated in possibly win some awards. Oh by the way, The Hours was produced by Miramax Films.
"Nicole, you don't want to make a scene in this place."
Just as expected, Harvey Weinstein also showed up. He turned to Tom's table and glanced at Kazir before eyeing Nicole to return to her seat.
Nicole Kidman was poised and smiled as she excused herself. However, she seemed indignant for some reason.
Harvey Weinstein left after that. He didn't bother greeting Tom or Kazir. Miramax never made a huge investment so it was impossible to hire someone like Tom Cruise.
Miramax was good at making artistic films and their movies won many awards yearly. Miramax basically cracked the code or perhaps Harvey Weinstein's influence in the Academy Awards was strong.
Maybe Kazir Grey and Harvey Weinstein would have a face-off at the Oscars. Because both of their movies had a chance to compete at the Academy Awards.
Some celebrities watched the scene but kept their silence. They were hoping that something interesting would happen, but they were disappointed when Nicole Kidman left after a few minutes. Nicole and Tom's separation was never peaceful and many rumors were circulating.
Kazir didn't care about it, because he knew that Tom Cruise would maintain his popularity even in the 2020s. The actor was still healthy when the old Kazir died in a traffic accident.
As for Nicole Kidman... Let's just say that her popularity was nothing compared to Tom Cruise.
