Chapter 6 - THE GETAWAY

The warm sunlight streaming through the windows of their villa awakened Min Ju, who stretched languidly, feeling the softness of the bed. She smiled, remembering the peaceful night's sleep she had just had. The sound of the ocean waves gently lapping against the shore outside was like music to her ears.

She got out of bed and walked to the window, pulling back the curtains to reveal the breathtaking view of the ocean. The turquoise waters sparkled in the morning light, and the surrounding greenery was lush and vibrant.

Downstairs, Joon-ho was already up, sipping a cup of coffee in the living room. He looked up and smiled as Min Ju entered. "Good morning," he said, his eyes crinkling at the corners.

Min Ju smiled back, feeling a sense of contentment wash over her. "Good morning," she replied, joining him on the couch.

So-yeon burst into the room, her eyes shining with excitement. "Today, can we go to the waterfall, Appa? Pleeease?"

Joon-ho chuckled, ruffling her hair. "Of course, we can. We'll make it our first stop today."

After a leisurely breakfast, they set out on their expedition, driving through the picturesque roads of Jeju Island. The scenery was breathtaking, with lush green fields and towering volcanic peaks.

As they walked to the waterfall, the sound of the rushing water grew louder, and the air grew cooler. So-yeon ran ahead, her laughter echoing off the rocks.

Min Ju and Joon-ho followed, hand in hand, taking in the natural beauty around them. The waterfall was stunning, cascading down a rocky cliff into a crystal-clear pool.

So-yeon squealed with delight, running to the edge of the pool and dipping her toes in the water. Min Ju and Joon-ho sat down on a nearby rock, watching her with smiles.

As they sat there, taking in the serenity of their surroundings, Min Ju felt a sense of peace wash over her. This was exactly what she needed - a break from the pressures of her writing, and quality time with her loved ones.

Soon, they finished their visit to the waterfall. Min Ju instinctively suggested, "How about we head to Seongsan Ilchulbong next? I've heard the views are stunning."

Joon-ho nodded, "That sounds great. So-yeon, are you ready to see a real-life crater?"

So-yeon's eyes widened, "A crater? Like a volcano?"

Joon-ho smiled, "Exactly like a volcano. Let's get going!"

They made their way back to their car. Min Ju couldn't help but feel grateful for this little family of hers. They were having the perfect vacation, filled with laughter, adventure, and quality time together.

After a quick lunch at a local restaurant, they set off towards Seongsan Ilchulbong, also known as Sunrise Peak. They climbed the stairs to the top with So-yeon, who ran ahead, her excitement palpable.

Min Ju and Joon-ho followed, taking in the breathtaking views of the ocean and the surrounding landscape. The crater was even more stunning than they had expected, with its lush greenery and vibrant flowers.

So-yeon turned to them with a huge smile as they reached the top, "This is amazing! I feel like I'm on top of the world!"

Min Ju and Joon-ho smiled at each other, happy to see their daughter so carefree and joyful.

While they took in the views and snapped photos, Min Ju felt a sense of contentment wash over her. This was what life was all about - experiencing new things, exploring the world, and sharing it all with the people you love.

After they had spent a few hours at Seongsan Ilchulbong, they decided to head to a local black sand beach, Jungmun Beach, to watch the sunset.

Sooner than later, the sun began to set on their perfect day at the beach. Min Ju and Joon-ho knew it was time to head to their vacation villa. They packed up their belongings and called out to So-yeon, who was still playing in the waves.

"Time to go, sweetie!" Min Ju shouted, waving her arms to get So-yeon's attention.

So-yeon reluctantly left the water's edge and ran towards her parents, dripping wet and grinning from ear to ear. "That was the best day ever!" she exclaimed, hugging Min Ju and Joon-ho tightly.

Min Ju and Joon-ho smiled at each other, happy to see their daughter so happy. "We're glad you had a good time," Joon-ho said, ruffling So-yeon's hair.

Their car slowly made its way down the asphalt. Min Ju felt a sense of excitement and anticipation. She couldn't wait to see their vacation villa and start their relaxing getaway.

The drive to the villa was short and scenic, taking them through winding roads and picturesque villages. Finally, they arrived at their destination, a beautiful villa perched on a hill overlooking the ocean.

They immediately unpacked and headed in. The showers soon came touching the floor as they washed down their sore and tired bodies.

Refreshened and warmed, Min Ju climbed into bed~ feeling the softness of the blankets envelop her weary body. Joon-ho was already lying there, his eyes fixed on her with a warm smile.

"Come here," he said, opening his arms to her.

Min Ju snuggled into his embrace, feeling the warmth of his body and the gentle beat of his heart. She closed her eyes, letting out a contented sigh.

Joon-ho wrapped his arms around her, holding her close. "I'm so glad we're here together," he whispered, his breath tickling her ear.

Min Ju nodded, her eyes still closed. "Me too," she replied, her voice barely above a whisper.

They lay there in comfortable silence, the only sound the gentle hum of the air conditioner and the distant waves crashing outside.

After a while, Joon-ho spoke up again. "You know, I was thinking... maybe we can extend our stay here. Just a few more days."

Min Ju's eyes fluttered open, a smile spreading across her face. "Really?" she asked, her voice filled with excitement.

Joon-ho nodded, his eyes crinkling at the corners. "Yes, really. I don't want this vacation to end yet."

Min Ju snuggled deeper into his embrace, feeling grateful for this moment, this vacation, and this love they shared. "Me neither," she replied, her voice filled with emotion.

But then Joon-ho's gaze drifted towards the door, a hint of concern etched on his face. "Do you think So-yeon is already asleep?" he asked, his voice low and gentle.

Min Ju nodded, her eyes still shining with happiness. "Yes, she was exhausted from today's adventures. She fell asleep as soon as her head hit the pillow."

Joon-ho's face relaxed into a soft smile. "Good. She needs her rest."

Min Ju nodded in agreement. "Yes, she does. And so do we."

Joon-ho's eyes locked onto hers, his gaze filled with warmth and love. "We'll get plenty of rest, together," he whispered, his voice soft and mesmerizing.

Min Ju's heart fluttered, her pulse racing with excitement. She knew that this vacation was not just about rest and relaxation, but also about reconnecting with each other, as a family and as a couple.

As they lay there, wrapped in each other's arms, Joon-ho's hand began to gently stroke Min Ju's hair, his touch sending shivers down her spine.

Min Ju's eyes fluttered closed, her body relaxing into his touch. She felt his warm breath on her skin, his lips grazing her ear.

"I love you," he whispered, his voice husky with emotion.

Min Ju's heart skipped a beat. "I love you too," she replied, her voice barely above a whisper.

Joon-ho's hand drifted down her body, his touch igniting a fire within her. Min Ju's pulse quickened, her body responding to his caress.

As they moved closer, their lips met in a soft, gentle kiss. The world around them melted away, leaving only the two of them, lost in their love.

Their kiss deepened, their bodies entwining as they surrendered to their passion. The room around them faded into darkness, the only sound their gentle whispers and the beating of their hearts.

In that moment, they were one, their love shining bright like a beacon in the night. And as they finally drifted off to sleep, wrapped in each other's arms, they knew that their love would last a lifetime.
