Chapter 51 - A New Path for Hope

Location: Mystic falls school.

Inside the principal's office at Mystic Falls High, Hope sat in a chair, trembling. Her teacher, Nick, stood nearby, casting anxious glances between Hope and the sweating principal, Mr. Johnson. Principal Johnson was visibly shaken, trying his best to remain calm as he glanced nervously at the young girl, aware of the power her family wielded—especially her mother, Laura Howlett, Luna of the Crimson Moon Pack.

Nick cleared his throat, breaking the tense silence. "Sir, I really think it would be best if we call her parents."

Principal Johnson nodded, gripping the phone tightly. He knew the situation was precarious. Hope had lost control in a school setting, and while he doubted Logan, the Alpha, would react too harshly, the same could not be said about Laura. Known for her fierce protective nature, any harm done to her daughter could spell trouble for him and his school.

He punched in the number with shaky fingers, and after a few rings, a calm but firm voice answered. "Hello, This is Laura Howlett."

"Uh, Mrs. Howlett, this is Principal Johnson from Mystic Falls High School. There's been... an incident with your daughter, Hope."

The line went quiet for a beat before Laura responded, her tone was sharp. "What happened? Is she hurt?"

"No, no, she's not hurt. But it's important that you come to the school. We're in my office."

There was no reply, just the click of the phone ending. Before Principal Johnson could even lower the receiver, a portal materialized in the room, shimmering and swirling with energy.

Laura Howlett stepped out of it and She moved swiftly toward Hope, her focus solely on her daughter. Without a word, she embraced Hope, checking her condition with motherly concern.

"Are you alright, Hope?" Laura asked softly, kneeling beside her daughter, brushing her hair gently.

Hope, still trembling, managed to nod, her eyes wide with fear and confusion.

Laura kissed the top of her head, her concern deepening at Hope's unsteady condition. She moved the chair to the edge of the room and positioned herself protectively in front of her daughter, turning her gaze to the two men. Her eyes shifted to a dangerous yellow as she spoke.

The air in the room thickened as a powerful, almost primal aura filled the space. To Johnson and Nick, it felt like they were facing a massive white wolf, far larger and more terrifying than anything they could imagine.

"Tell me," Laura growled, her voice was low but commanding. "What happened?"

Principal Johnson felt a cold sweat break out as he and Nick stood frozen, feeling as if they were staring down by an enormous, white wolf, much larger than anything they've ever seen, ready to tear them apart if they answered incorrectly.

Nick, swallowing nervously, was the first to speak. "Mrs. Howlett, during lunch, Hope... she lost control. She, uh, attacked one of her classmates, Josie."

Laura's gaze intensified, and Principal Johnson, mustering all his courage, added, "Josie is fine—she's a werewolf too, and she already healed—but Hope's action was... unexpected."

Laura's eyes remained locked on them and her aura still suffocating them.

"We don't know what happened," Nick said, trying to remain calm. "But it seemed like this had something to with her powers."

Laura's gaze flickered between the two of them, assessing their words. She took a deep breath, releasing some of the tension in the room, but the weight of her authority remained.

"Hope is still young," Laura finally said. "Her powers are growing and She didn't have control over them, that's why it happened.I will handle this." She glanced at Hope, her expression softening briefly before turning back to Principal Johnson. "There will be no more incidents like this. I promise and send me the details about the one bitten by her, I'll talk to them."

Principal Johnson nodded rapidly, not daring to speak.

Laura looked one last time at the two of them, her eyes returning to their normal color. She turned back to Hope, placing a hand on her shoulder. "Let's go, sweetheart. We'll talk to your father about this."

As the portal opened again, Laura and Hope stepped through, leaving behind an office full of tension and fear that wouldn't dissipate for quite some time. Johnson and Nick remained frozen in place, shaken by the encounter.

Nick wiped his sweat with his handkerchief, "Damn, that was terrifying."

Principal Johnson who is also wiping his sweat nodded.

Location: Logan's House, Whitehaven

Logan sat in his living room, he is on a call with Emily. "Try to recruit Helen Cho and Maya Hansen to Howlett Enterprises," he instructed. "We need their expertise, since they are still young we can take them as interns and once they are done with their studies, offering them freedom in research should be enough to get them onboard."

After hearing Emily's affirmative response, Logan ended the call and settled on the large sofa.

Jean, who had been taking a break from her teaching job at Midtown High School, joined him, sitting comfortably on his lap. They enjoyed the peace and quiet, a rare luxury for them, as they relaxed into a TV show.

But the moment was short-lived. Logan's sharp senses flared, detecting a disturbance in space. His eyes immediately shifted toward the center of the room, where an orange portal shimmered to life. Laura stepped through, clutching Hope tightly in her arms.

Logan and Jean instantly recognized that something was wrong. They hurried over to Laura and Hope, but before Logan could reach out to his daughter, Hope recoiled. She covered her nose, shaking her head, and pulled away from Laura.

Without a word, she broke free from her mother's embrace and bolted toward her room, leaving Logan frozen in confusion.

Logan stared after Hope, his worry deepening. She had never reacted this way before. Whenever she was frightened or in trouble, she always sought him out. But now, she had run from him, covering her nose as if his scent repelled her. It stung in a way he hadn't expected.

"What happened?" Logan asked as he turned to Laura. "Did she lose control of her powers?"

Laura's expression was tight with concern as she glanced toward the door of Hope's room. "It's worse than that," she said, her voice heavy. "There was an incident at school. She lost control and... attacked Josie. It was like something inside her snapped. She bit her."

Logan's eyes narrowed, but he stayed quiet, sensing that Laura wasn't finished.

"She didn't just lose control," Laura continued, her tone grim. "I think... her vampire powers are starting to awaken."

Logan's face darkened at the mention of 'vampire powers.' They had known that Hope, being their daughter, carried both werewolf and vampire traits in her bloodline.

They had hoped that her vampire abilities would remain dormant until she was older, more prepared. But this early awakening—this uncontrollable thirst—was something they hadn't anticipated.

"Vampire powers?" Jean's worry deepened. "She's still so young. Shouldn't those powers stay dormant for a few more years?"

Laura sighed. "That's what we thought, but it looks like we were wrong. She's showing signs of thirst."

Logan began to think, This wasn't something they had prepared for, and he didn't consider the idea of Hope struggling with vampire instincts so soon. He turned toward Hope's room, his gaze hardening with resolve.

"Contact Selene and Hank," Logan said after thinking. "Selene might know how to help Hope control her Vampire powers."

Jean quickly took her phone and called to get in touch with them, while Laura continued to watch the door to Hope's room with growing anxiety.

Logan, however, moved toward Hope's room, his senses already aware of her presence under her bed sheets. As he opened the door, he saw her shifting away from him, trying to create distance.

He approached her with a soft smile. "What's going on, Hope? Why do you want to move away from Daddy?"

Hope's voice was low, almost a whisper. "I didn't want to bite you too, Daddy. My throat feels like it's on fire, so dry. And... I have this urge to drink blood."

Logan sat on the edge of her bed as she continued, her words were trembling with fear. "I'm having a hard time controlling it when you're close. Your scent... it makes me want to bite your neck and drink your blood."

Logan reached over, gently pulling the sheets off her. Then she sat up and faced him, her eyes were glowing a deep yellow, with black veins visible beneath them. He smiled reassuringly, offering her his hand.

"You can bite me, Hope. Drink my blood," he said calmly. "Don't forget, your father is the strongest man on this planet. You can't hurt me."

Hope hesitated for a moment, but her instincts soon took over. She grabbed his hand, her thirst overwhelming her, and bit into his skin, drawing blood. Logan smiled gently, stroking her hair as she drank.

"Don't hold back, Hope," he encouraged her softly. "You can drink as much as you need."

As she fed, Logan watched her with fatherly affection. His only focus was on helping her through the struggle she was facing.

After some time, Hope had her fill of Logan's blood and soon drifted into a peaceful sleep. Logan made sure she was comfortable, tucking her in gently before leaving her room.

As he stepped outside, he found Selene and Anna having a conversation with Laura and Jean. They all are seated in the sofa.

Hank was still on his way, but the women here were ready to discuss the next steps.

Selene spoke first as she saw him seated next to Anna, her expression was serious, "I'll start training Hope to control her vampire powers Logan. If she's willing, I can also take her on as an apprentice in magic."

Logan nodded, appreciating Selene's offer, but then turned his gaze to Anna. "What about Anna?"

Anna and Selene exchanged a smile before Anna reached out to touch Logan's hand. This time, there was no sudden drain of his life force. Logan raised an eyebrow, intrigued.

"I've been able to control my power somewhat," Anna explained, her smile widening. "I can make contact for short periods without draining life energy, but if the contact lasts too long, I still lose control."

Selene nodded in agreement. "I've been teaching her how to manage her abilities. She's learning fast, but it'll take time for her to fully master it."

Logan looked at them both with a sense of pride and gratitude. "I appreciate what you're doing Selene. For Hope, for Anna."

Selene smiled, "Please spare me your praise Logan. I care for Hope as much as you do."

They all smiled and had a friendly talk for sometime.
