THIRD PERSON POV
"Impossible!" Elder Tholos's voice boomed through the office, his face red with rage. " Alexander can't be serious. Making humans equals to us? It's absurd!"
Elder Lina, Lord Raven and Elder Samuel all nodded in agreement, their faces set in disapproving scowls. All the elders and lords had all been summoned to the meeting room to discuss the king's recent announcement.
"I don't understand why he's doing this," Elder Tholos continue shaking his head. "Humans are our inferiors. They always have been."
"Exactly," Elder Samuel agreed. "And what's next? Will he be giving them seats on the council? Allowing them to hold power over us?"
Lord Raven snorted. "The very idea is laughable. We are the ones with the power, the immortality, the strength. Humans are nothing but weak and powerless creatures."
Elder Lina speaks up her voice cautious. "Perhaps we should consider the king's perspective. He's always been...different. And his mate, Nikolas, is human."
Elder Tholos turned on to her , his eyes blazing. "You are not suggesting we follow the king's lead on this, are you, Lina? Because I won't stand for it."
" then what do you suggest we do then " elder Lina said.
Lord Raven already having a deep hatred for Nikolas after Alexander had killed his daughter (lady Victoria) because of him said " I suggest we kill Nikolas , we remove him from the kings life and all this human being equals nonsense will stop "
Elder Lina looks at lord Raven as if he had grown two heads
It was clear that the elders were divided.
"Lord Raven, have you lost your mind?" she asked, but Elder Samuel nodded in agreement . "I agree with what Lord Raven said," he said. "Because I believe it's Nikolas who is instigating this idea into Alexander's head as his mate."
Elder Lina's face twisted in a scowl. "You can't be serious," she growled. "We are talking about the king's mate here. We can't just kill him."
Lord Raven's smile was cold and calculating. "Why not?" he asked. "He's a human. He's nothing but a flea compared to us. And he's corrupting our king, turning him against his own kind."
Elder Lina shook her head, her eyes filled with disgust. "This is madness," she said. "We are not going to solve anything by killing Nikolas."
But Lord Raven's mind was made up. "I will take care of it myself," he said, his voice dripping with menace. "I will make sure Nikolas never bothers us again."
Elder Lina stood up and started to leave the office while saying" I can't stand this " but before she could reach the door, elder Tholos that has not spoken since called out His voice was low and menacing, and it sent a shiver down Elder Lina's spine.
"Elder Lina," he started "even if you won't support this, I suggest you keep your mouth shut."
Elder Lina turned back to face him, "And What are you threatening me with, Tholos?" she said firm.
Elder Tholos smiled, his eyes glinting with malice. "I am not threatening you, Lina, I am just advising you. You see, we can't have you running off to the king and telling him about our plan because that would be...unfortunate."
*****
Mean while, Nikolas pushed back his chair from the small table in the room, patting his stomach contentedly. "Thank you, Leo," he said with a smile, "the food was good and very delicious. I really enjoyed it."
Leo beamed with pride as he gathered up the dishes and utensils. "You are welcome, Nikolas," he said, his eyes shining with warmth. "I am glad you liked it. I was worried you might not like the meal because I am not a professional cook."
Nikolas stood up and stretches his arms over his head. "No, Leo, it's fine," he said. "You are a great cook. But now, I am getting a little bored Leo, please can you take me to the palace library. I would like to find some books to waste time with."
Leo nodded, "Of course, Nikolas. Right this way." he led him out of the room and through the hallway corridors of the palace, they finally stopp at a large wooden double door and he pushed it open, revealing a room filled with rows upon rows of shelves, each one lined with books of all shapes and sizes.
Nikolas's eyes widened in awe as he stepped inside. "Wow," he breathed. "I have never seen so many books in one place." But what he truly wanted to find was books that talked about a human healing fast. He had been experiencing strange and vivid dreams, and he was determined to find out what they meant.
Leo smiled. "The palace library is one of the largest in the kingdom," he said. "You should be able to find something to interest you here." Leo bows and backed away. "I will be back to check on you later, Nikolas. Enjoy your reading."
Nikolas nodded, already moving towards the shelves. He scanned the titles, his eyes searching for anything that might mention human healing or supernatural mate bond . He was determined to find answers, no matter what it took.
Nikolas's eyes scanned the shelves, his fingers trailing over books as he searched for something that may catch his attention. And then, he saw it , an old looking book with a cover made of a strange scaly material that seemed to glow in the light. The title, "De Morte et Vita" (Of Death and Life), was written in gold letters and the pages seemed to be yellow indicating it's age.
"Ah," Nikolas breathed, his fingers reaching out to touch the book. "This one looks interesting."
He carefully opened the cover, and the pages cracked with age as he turned them, revealing intricate illustrations and text written in a language he didn't understand. But as he touched the page, the words seemed to shift and becomes clear and readable.
"Do not open," Nikolas said to himself, his eyes scanning the text. The book read: "For those who seek power, beware the cost. To unlock the secrets within, you must first unlock yourself."
Nikolas was shocked. What kind of book was this? He tried to open the next page, but the book closed itself, as if it didn't want him to continue reading.
"What's going on?" Nikolas muttered to himself. He tried to open the book again, but it wouldn't budge.
Suddenly, a whisper seemed to echo in his mind. "With due time Nikolas. You would uncover the secrets."
Nikolas spun around, but he was alone in the room. The whisper seemed to come from the book itself.
"who's there ?" Nikolas demanded, "What do you want ?"
There was no response, but the book seemed to be pulsing with a strange energy. Nikolas felt a shiver run down his spine as he realized that he had stumbled into something much bigger than himself.
