I pack up my things and start to next to the next floating island where Lionhart city is. Maybe there will be clues about the gods. The ways to travel around are with drakes and airships. I can manifest blood wings but I don't want to upset Eris. Best choice is take an airship and avoid suspicion.
While on the airship Eris is sleeping peacefully. I watch the view of the night sky and the surrounding nature. The purple luminous clouds covering the moon. The creatures emerging from the clouds beneath the islands. But this is all an illusion. This world may have beautiful leafs lying on the surface but have corrupt veins within. I will correct those treacherous veins.
A woman with a black veil approaches me. From her magic like clothing and mood, I can definitely tell she not around from this region.
"What a cute little baby, you have there," She complimented
"Thanks," I replied
"This baby seems special, mind if I take a look?"
"No."
"I promise, I won't hurt her."
"It seems like you're a mage. Make a mana oath."
"Fine, I swear on mana, I will harm this child."
She looks at me annoyed, but I have no plans on letting a stranger harm my daughter, but she has an oddly sense of familiarity. She touches Eris's cheek.
"I sense a godly power within, are you perhaps someone special?"
"I'm just a retired hunter."
"What about your wife?"
"She passed away right while giving birth to her."
I felt a sense of uneasiness from her gaze just now. As if I'm being inspected. However my blood powers shouldn't be able to be detected.
"Hmmm, my eye of truth doesn't seem to tell you're lying. I guess this baby must be blessed by a goddess. Till we meet again fated man."
She leaves and turns around. The veil was slightly lifted from the wind. A bob hairstyle I can see from the back. I stare down at Eris. Wondering what kind of baby she is and her mother background. Only that her mother was dropped off at an orphanage when she was still a baby.
"Even if you have godly powers. I'll stand against the heavens for you."
I shortly arrive at the next island. Then start heading to Lionhart city is. I take a shortcut since main roads are too loud and noisy. After a minutes of traveling. Eris wakes up.
"Wahh," Eris whined
"Are you hungry baby? Let's take a break."
I feed Eris a bottle of milk and some vegetable stew.
"Wahh!" Eris whined, knocked out the spoon filled with vegetables.
"Vegetables will make you a strong independent girl one day. Don't let Dada down." I gently comforted her
Eris stops whining and starts eating. It's incredible that she can understand my actions being only a few weeks old. Dusk is setting in and I'm no where near Lionhart territory. I must find a place for Eris to rest.
Up ahead near the woods is a little orphanage like place. Maybe I rest there.
In the distance I can see some knights walking out of the building with some children. I go investigate what's happening inside.
I go to the orphanage and only to see lifeless bodies of children. A man in a mask is weeping in front of the bodies of the children.
"Those cruel bastards!" He cursed
"What did those knights do?" I asked
"Who are you?" The man spoke lifting his head up
"I came to rest here with my newborn daughter," I replied
"Leave this place. It's no place for you and daughter to be safe."
"Do you wish for revenge?" I tendered
"Y-yes, YES!" He shouted
"I wish for those bastards to die. They took the children to be used as playthings for nasty men and killed the remaining who tried protecting. I was forced to watch it happen" He continued
"Very well, I will seek revenge for your loved ones, but you must swear loyalty to me," I proposed
He kneels down in a knights position.
"Even if you're the devil, I'll still take the oath. I, Eugene Barolt The third pledge my loyalty to my liege," He pledged
"Very well, I will bestow you my powers."
The blood is still warm so the children can still be saved.
"WHAT ARE YOU DOING MY LIEGE!" bellowed Eugene
"Don't worry," I said
The wounds of the children begin closing and eyes starts to shine again.
"Ahh, my children," Eugene starts tearing.
He inches closer to them.
"Don't touch them, they still need some time to fully recover."
"I was mistaken. Having you saved the children. I WILL MY LIFE TO SERVE YOU MY LIEGE, I WILL NEVER DOUBT YOU AGAIN!" He shouted
"Then let us take the children back to the right parent now," I spoke
I settled Eris in a caddle. She started crying.
"Don't worry, Dada will be back darling," I said
I laid some safety measures in the building in case anything happens without my presence. It was good thing I put my blood particles on the knights when they were leaving in case of situations like this.
"I've put a tracking device down, Let's depart now."
"Very well my liege."
The night will be very long today.
