Chapter 1 - What Makes a Villain?

The Immortal Realm is a vast territory, so expansive that some people spend their entire lives without ever exploring all its corners.

In this place, powerful immortal sects constantly rise, and the number of fortresses is countless.

The air here is thick with magical energy; celestial creatures, spiritual beasts, and majestic landscapes dominate the scene.

At the heart of this realm, the Ye Family, the most powerful force, reigns supreme.

A majestic palace floats above the Ye Family residence, surrounded by an ethereal glow, while celestial creatures soar through the sky in an awe-inspiring display.

Some of these creatures possess terrifying immortality, their power feared even by the bravest souls.

The palace is enveloped in immortal energy, its beauty rivaling that of a heavenly paradise.

In the center of this magnificent place lies a room decorated with unparalleled opulence.

The position of this room speaks to the grandeur of its owner, a status that can only be imagined.

At the heart of the room, a luxurious bed made of flawless, gleaming white jade lies silent.

The air is charged with spiritual energy; meditating on that bed would ensure rapid progress in cultivation.

If this bed were ever auctioned in the Immortal Realm, countless people would fight for it.

Upon that bed rests a figure in silence. His eyes remain closed, as if in a deep slumber.

His black hair cascades down to his shoulders, gently swaying in the inexplicable breeze that circulates through the room.

His face is angular and incomparable, a masterpiece that needs no explanation.

The skin of this young man is so radiant and smooth that even goddesses of beauty would feel envious.

His body is prominent but not overly muscular, a slender and elegant figure that could make even the most beautiful fairies swoon.

If he were to stand, he would measure about 198 cm, a height that complements his imposing presence.

Suddenly, the young man's eyes slowly open, revealing a pair of black orbs that seem to embody the very essence of void and darkness.

Though these infinite depths exude an aura of detachment, mystery, and superiority, in that instant, there is a spark of confusion in his gaze.

"Where... am I?" he murmured, his voice barely audible, but laden with bewilderment.

Ye Yun had awoken abruptly and looked around, realizing he was not in the place he knew.

"This isn't what I remember..." he thought aloud, as he slowly sat up.

He barely had time to orient himself when a torrent of memories flooded his mind, causing a sharp pain that made him groan and clutch his head.

"Aaah...!" A low grunt escaped his lips as he struggled to process the avalanche of information.

"What... is this?" he gasped, his voice tinged with distress.

These memories weren't his; they belonged to the previous Ye Yun.

The pain in his head was unbearable at first, but it gradually subsided, and Ye Yun began to understand what had happened.

"This is... the Immortal Realm?" he murmured, more to himself than anyone else. "Now I'm the young master of the mighty Ye Family... Ye Yun?"

Curiously, his previous name was also Ye Yun, and now, after traveling to this world, he had inherited a name and a destiny he never expected.

"This is... incredible," he thought as he absorbed his new identity. "I've inherited such immense power?"

He discovered that his new self had an unparalleled background, being the young master of the Ye Family, one of the most noble existences in the Immortal Realm.

With almost absolute power, no one dared provoke him.

"Anything I want... I can have," he murmured, awed by the magnitude of his situation.

But how had this person, with so much going for him, come to die?

Through the memories of the previous owner of this body, Ye Yun understood that not only did he have supreme status, but he also had terrifying talent in cultivation.

He possessed an Immortal Body, a physique so rare that it far surpassed other geniuses.

This type of physique appeared once every millennium, and the last person to possess it had reached the rank of Great Emperor, the most powerful of his time.

That Great Emperor was the founder of the current Ye Family.

When Ye Yun was born, the sky and earth changed color. Under an endless golden light, he came into the world accompanied by immortal energy that left everyone in awe.

Even the patriarch of the Ye Family, a man feared and respected, was overwhelmed by the aura emanating from the newborn.

Soon, they discovered that Ye Yun had inherited the immortal body of his ancestor, and the Ye Family celebrated with joy, knowing that their future could surpass even that of the previous Ye Yun.

From his birth, Ye Yun was destined to be the leader of the Ye Family.

With an immortal body, his progress in cultivation was astounding. Before he turned seven, he had already been strengthened with countless treasures and celestial medicines. It could be said that Ye Yun had the world at his feet.

He had barely turned eighteen and was already at the pinnacle of the Sensing Dao Realm.

Other geniuses his age had only reached the Supernatural Power Realm, but he had far surpassed them.

However, the previous Ye Yun wasn't satisfied with merely reaching the peak of the Sensing Dao Realm; he wanted more, he wanted to break through this realm and reach a higher one.

In his rush to advance, he made a fatal mistake. The speed of his progress was such that his mind and body couldn't withstand it, and a Heart Demon was born within him.

The Heart Demon is one of the most dangerous threats to cultivators, capable of leading them to destruction if not properly managed.

But this Ye Yun, ignoring this danger, tried to force his advancement, but succumbed to his inner demons, causing his soul to shatter and his life to come to an end.

It was at that moment that Ye Yun's soul, aided by a mysterious system, entered his new body and fused with the fragments of the previous Ye Yun's soul.

This fusion was perfect, allowing Ye Yun to take control without raising suspicion in the Ye Family.

Had it not been for that fusion, Ye Yun's soul could have been easily expelled, which would have resulted in his total destruction.

Ye Yun exhaled a sigh of relief, grateful that the system had fused his soul with the fragments of the previous Ye Yun.

"The system is... incredible. If it weren't for this, I'd be in serious trouble," he said, trying to calm himself as he reflected on his situation.

Just then, a robotic voice resonated in his mind.

[Ding! Master, do not worry, the Great Villain System is here to help you eliminate all concerns.]

Ye Yun was startled by the unexpected voice in his head. Anyone else in the Immortal Realm would have been terrified, but he, as a transmigrator, accepted it quickly.

"What...?" he stammered, as his mind tried to grasp what was happening. "Who's talking?"

Though hearing a voice in his head was strange, he understood that this system was his foundation for establishing himself in this new world.

"So... it's you," he murmured, now calmer. "My system..."

Suddenly, he remembered the name he had heard.

Great Villain System.

"Great Villain System?!" he exclaimed, incredulous. "Does that mean...?"

The memories he had just regained began to align in his mind, giving him a clear vision of his role.

"Am I destined to be... a villain?" he murmured in astonishment, followed by a slight, ironic smile.

After reading so many novels about people who reincarnated as villains, Ye Yun understood the significance of his situation.

"I guess this... will be interesting," he said with a growing smile. "I didn't expect things to be so... complicated."
