Chapter 81 - Chapter 81: The One-Eyed Monster

Summoning Technique is a jutsu that allows one to summon a summoned beast after signing a contract. Summoned beasts come in many varieties, from small auxiliary beasts to powerful combat beasts. Among the Three Ninjas of Konoha, Tsunade's summoned beast is unique in its combination of both auxiliary and combat capabilities.

The physical characteristics of a summoned beast are often used to determine its strength, and the summoned beasts of the Three Ninjas are among the most outstanding. Orochimaru's summoned beasts belong to the Earth Dragon clan, a renowned group. Most people would not refuse to sign a contract on a scroll if it was easily inheritable, as it is straightforward and effective.

However, Ye Zi did not choose to sign a contract on the scroll directly. Instead, given another option, he opted for the one filled with uncertainty and danger.

Following Orochimaru to a remote and sparsely populated area of Konoha, Ye Zi watched Orochimaru, waiting for further instructions.

Orochimaru did not speak. Instead, he bit his finger and slowly performed the hand seals. He then slapped the ground, and a black symbol appeared instantly. With a puff of white smoke, a small, thumb-thick, black snake emerged from the smoke, lifting its head to stare at Orochimaru.

After completing the summoning seals slowly, Orochimaru looked at Ye Zi and asked, "Did you see clearly?"

Ye Zi nodded slightly. With his visual acuity and memory, he could recall the sequence of hand seals even if Orochimaru had slowed down the process. Even if it were at a normal speed, he could remember it.

Orochimaru was the only one who knew of Ye Zi's capability. After confirming that Ye Zi had memorized the sequence, he said, "Reverse the sequence of the hand seals, and you will perform the Reverse Summoning Technique. With this technique, you can travel to and return from the summoned world."

A single demonstration and a brief explanation were all that Ye Zi needed to understand the Reverse Summoning Technique.

Ye Zi was accustomed to such things. His eyes reflected contemplation as he mentally reversed the sequence of hand seals. Then he looked at Orochimaru with a questioning expression.

Orochimaru, showing no emotion, said, "If you are determined, then give it a try."

Ye Zi clenched his fist. He was indeed resolute. No one knew how elusive and hopeless his goal was, and how absurd it might seem. For this absurd goal, he did not want to miss any potential methods.

What it felt like to traverse time and space, or to travel from one world to another, were just preliminary steps.

From Ye Zi's expression, Orochimaru knew he was determined. His eyebrows raised subtly, and he silently moved to the side.

Ye Zi glanced at him and said, "I'm starting."

Orochimaru nodded slightly, maintaining his impassive demeanor.

Ye Zi withdrew his gaze. The events that lay ahead were unknown, and the unknown was fraught with danger. He took a deep breath, bit his thumb, and performed the hand seals at a steady pace. Moments later, as he completed the final seal, his expression became extremely focused and serious. He moved his arm and slapped the ground.

From the center of his palm, a black script instantly appeared on the ground, exuding an enigmatic and mysterious aura. Then, a white smoke exploded at his feet. As the smoke cleared, Ye Zi's figure vanished, and the script on the ground disappeared without a trace.

Watching the spot where Ye Zi had disappeared, Orochimaru remained silent. After a while, he sat down and silently observed the location.

For Orochimaru, time was exceedingly precious. Sometimes he even considered sacrificing sleep to study human anatomy. Prior to this, Orochimaru had remained expressionless and silent when Ye Zi made his decision and took action, showing no hint of worry. However, now he remained here in silence, showing concern for Ye Zi through his unseen actions.

After using the Reverse Summoning Technique, Ye Zi felt his body become lighter. His vision was obscured by a burst of white smoke. Just a moment later, the smoke dissipated, and he found himself in a different place.

It was a desolate and barren land of yellow earth. As far as he could see, there was endless yellow dirt with no peculiar rocks, no plants, and no signs of life—just a vast expanse of dust-covered land.

Ye Zi looked at the ground beneath him with a frown. This was not a favorable place. He looked up at the sun in the sky, which was dim and not glaring, and felt no heat. Instead, there was a sensation of coldness on his skin.

Such a place gave the sensation of being in a fiery furnace, yet in reality, it was the opposite—cool and slightly chilly.

"What kind of place is this?" Ye Zi wondered aloud.

He carefully observed his surroundings. The desolation was evident, with no signs of any living creatures. The only certainty was that the area seemed relatively safe.

After pausing for a moment, he chose a direction and started moving forward. He wanted to explore and, if he found no signs of life, he would return and try the Reverse Summoning Technique again.

The sun overhead seemed to be covered by a layer of heat insulation, making the sunlight not glaring and only slightly warm. Thus, Ye Zi did not need to worry about external factors and proceeded as quickly as possible.

After running for half an hour, the scenery before him finally changed. He spotted a small hill, a mound of the same yellow earth. If he had not noticed this hill, he would have considered returning.

He approached the small hill at top speed. When he was about a thousand meters away, the hill suddenly trembled slightly.

Ye Zi immediately stopped and watched the hill with caution.

Rustling...

Fine dust began to fall from the top of the hill.

Ye Zi kept his eyes fixed on the hill and slowly retreated while drawing his Thunder Fang sword.

The speed of the falling dust increased suddenly, and a crack slowly appeared at the top of the hill, revealing a giant single eye.

The eye opened slowly and looked at Ye Zi with a human-like expression of disbelief.
