Chapter 156 - Staying In The Tower

"Aside from that, I have nothing more to share regarding the substance. However, when it comes to the emergence of the Ruler of Titania, I do possess a few intriguing tidbits that might capture your interest."

"It's hardly enough to justify an attack, but I daresay her presence is worth a closer look."

Mavislin tilted her head as Venom handed her a slim folder containing just two sheets of paper. Skimming through the contents, she paused, momentarily taken aback—each victim had reportedly coughed up flower petals before their demise.

"There's no doubt about it... She is Spring Song, otherwise known as 'Mother of Spring'. She is the entity that commands Spring. Think flowers, greenery, and new life. There isn't too much known as like the Twins, she was not meant to be malevolent."

"So… what you're suggesting is that the Legion's influence has warped this so-called Mother of Spring?" quizzed Venom.

"Correct. But I could be wrong as well as we don't have enough leads to fully understand her as of yet," answered Mavislin as she handed the folder back to the male.

"I think we've discussed as much as we can right now. I am going to head back to fetch the bunny and blondie then we are going back to Valokia. Unless you need me to stay longer," continued the dragoness.

Venom remained silent, pondering his next few words before softly replying to her.

"Yes, indeed. I shall arrange accommodations for the three of you to stay here until the First Seat meeting. Now, shall I assume you'd prefer separate rooms?"

"The Viceroy and I can share a room while Matt can be in another. And before you ask, it would be better to have that Prince of Darkness close before he gets bored and decides to destroy your tower," warned Mavislin, leaving the room.

The dragoness had witnessed many things in her young life—from the splendors of nature to the darkest facets of mortal folly.

Yet never, even in her wildest imaginings, had she envisioned the Sin of the Syndicate and the Viceroy of the Alltrinity sitting opposite each other, sharing a meal in her colleague's canteen.

"Did I not pay you enough last week? Why do you have to share with Zenos?" quizzed Mavislin as she sat beside Matt.

"No. The stallholder refused to sell Zenos a plate because he isn't from the Syndicate and I'm not that hungry so we are picking from the same plate. Anyways, how's your discussion with Venom?" asked the rabbit, quickly changing topics.

"It went well, no harm came to me and he isn't shoving any substance into my mouth. However, I did agree with him that we would be staying here for a while longer, at least until the First Seat meeting in a few days' time."

"The two of you should be fine with that, right? And don't worry bunny, I've made sure that you've got a room all to yourself," explained the dragoness.

"I do not mind sharing a room with another person. However, I do mind when you are going to share it with the Viceroy..."

"Oh? And yet here you are, content to share a meal with me. Tell me, are you envious?" taunted the Viceroy.

"I'm worried about what you would do my boss. But since this place is under Venom's jurisdiction, I'm sure that she would be safe. And no, I'm not undermining her strength as a First Seat. I'm concerned because I treat her like my younger sister."

As Matt finished speaking, he folded his arms across his chest and turned away from both the blonde and the dragoness. Mavislin couldn't help but smile, while Zenos simply shrugged and continued with his meal, polishing off the last bite on his plate.

"So, what would be the next thing to do for our upcoming mission? I presume that you've got some information from Venom," asked the rabbit.

"I have my own things to discuss and do for the next few days so I don't mind what you both do. I'm giving you both a break, especially since you need it for the upcoming battles. Because, from here on out, things are only going to get tougher."

"The Four Seasons Rulers is what we've decided to call them. The Legion summoned these things and directly hurt the staff of the Syndicate. Because of the lack of sightings, their mortality rate is much higher than the Twilight Twins," detailed Mavislin.

Zenos closed his eyes, appearing lost in thought before a sly smile crept across his lips. As he looked at the dragoness, the blonde couldn't help but find amusement in the fact that she was granting him a few days off.

When was the last time his father had allowed him even a moment's respite?
