Chapter 90 - Vulcana, Where Solaris Sits

"Then let us dispose of the distractions before us. You and I. Then we can fight to our heart's content with nothing standing in our way. For now, I need you to be... Stable," pleaded Mavislin, as she dug her fingers into the lapels of his coat.

The Viceroy looked stunned, staring at the girl before him in disbelief. Then, a soft chuckle escaped his lips as he gingerly cupped her left cheek, lowering his head toward her once more.

"I'm in control. You have my word, my dear Mavislin," whispered the Viceroy, as he planted a soft kiss on the dragoness' cheek.

Mavislin's heart leaped into her throat as she squeezed her eyes shut, then shoved the blonde away with all her might. Zenos let her retreat, his smirk of victory unwavering as he watched her struggle to steady her breath.

"If anyone's wondering, I'm here as well..." sounded out a very displeased bunny, leaning against a pillar with arms folded across his chest.

"When did you get here?" questioned the dragoness, walking towards her rabbit.

"Just in time to see that monster kiss you... I would definitely prefer to see anything else but hey what can you do. Anyways, are we ready for Solaris?" quizzed Mattheos, eyes forward-facing to the door towards Vulcana, the throne of Solaris.

"Are you not disturbed by Zenos' form? I thought you'd try to fight him or at least attack," wondered Mavislin, poking at the bunny.

"Why would I try to attack the monster before me? I would be damn near suicidal if I did that. Additionally, I have seen and heard reports of the Northern Cartel getting their hands on a Guardian. They were asking a few of the rogue Mages to help them."

"But I never thought it would be him, although he has the stature for it. I guess the title 'Prince of Darkness' truly suits you, Zenos," answered Matt, his eyes darkening.

"I'm impressed... How'd you manage to find out?" asked Mavislin.

"Venom told me and we had a 'fun' time trying to find that monster. Ah... To think that it's before me now... But that's all behind so let us move on with the current mission."

The trio nodded in unison before sprinting towards Vulcana, where Solaris awaited them on her fiery throne. Flames flickered and danced around her, casting an intense glow that made her presence all the more formidable.

Solaris's expression darkened as the group entered, her displeasure palpable in the air. She rose with an almost regal grace, her eyes narrowing as she assessed her unexpected guests.

Without a word, she seized her staff, the polished wood glinting ominously in the dim light, and leveled it directly at Mavislin. The dragoness, unfazed, responded with swift precision, her fingers wrapping around the cold metal of her scythe, ready to strike.

The tension crackled between them, thick and volatile, as if the slightest misstep could set off a storm. But for the First Seat, it was just another day, another job.

"You gave me that warning... What makes you think that you can beat me?" asked Solaris, her voice like a middle-aged lady.

"I don't think I can beat you... I know I can," smiled Mavislin as she gathered up a swirl of black and purple mana beneath her.

The Queen of the Sun lunged forward, her staff blazing with fury as she charged at the standing dragoness. But before she could close the distance, Matt's blade flashed in the air, intercepting her attack with a sharp, resonant clash.

The sudden halt sent a ripple of tension through the room, freezing Solaris in her tracks, her fiery determination meeting the cold steel of Matt's unwavering defense. The force of their clash was great enough to disturb the floor beneath.

"Sorry, I am the tank so you are going to redirect all attacks to me!" proclaimed the rabbit, horizontally swinging his blade.

The impact of Matt's blade forced Solaris back, her eyes blazing with fury. Enraged, she slammed her staff into the ground with a resounding crack, unleashing a shockwave that rippled through the room.

The ground trembled beneath her power, the air itself seeming to shudder in response to her wrath.

"Do not take me lightly, rabbit. I am far stronger than all three of my subordinates combined!" shouted Solaris as she tried again to attack Mavislin.

This time, Zenos was the one to intercept the angered Queen with his blade.

"Apologies, but it seems that my beast is a bit busy so you'd have to play with us instead!" thundered the Viceroy as he quickly shifted to kick Solaris in the head.

The Queen effortlessly dodged the attack, her body bending backward with fluid grace. As her palms touched the floor, she transitioned into a swift backflip, her movements precise and calculated.
