Chapter 19 - The Legion's Personnel

The bright blue armor was unmistakable, standing out starkly against the serene area. The male Legion personnel was a cat person with short, jet-black hair and a similarly dark, fluffy tail that flicked with restrained agitation.

His eyes, sharp and amber, glinted with a cold, calculating light. He was encased in a full suit of heavy armor, strikingly similar to what Zenos had worn in the battle just the day before.

In his left hand, he brandished a massive black greatsword, its surface marked with eerie blue cracks, held with a readiness that spoke of imminent danger.

His pallid complexion, devoid of warmth or life, mirrored the dead bodies that the Legion was notorious for leaving in their wake, adding a chilling aura to his formidable presence.

By his side stood a slender yet imposing woman, clad in the same blue armor, though it was more strategically designed, covering only her modest bosom, abdomen, lower limbs, and shoulders.

Beneath the armor, she wore a pink dress with a flowing skirt that brushed just above her knees. Her hair, a faded blonde with black tips, was neatly secured in a high ponytail.

Her pale violet eyes and rosy pink lips created a striking contrast against her fair, glowing skin. Although she did not have her weapon drawn, a massive silver war axe, shimmering with a faint glow, was strapped to her back, ready to be wielded at a moment's notice.

Sin instantly felt his heart clench in pain at seeing the Legion, with memories fresh in his mind about how they'd decimated a village. He was about to leap out of hiding but was halted by the dragon girl.

"Calm yourself. If we intervene now, we risk finding ourselves embroiled in a two-front battle. I don't know about you but I do not want to become a sandwich. And as much as I like the thrill of battle, I don't intend to be part of the past this quickly."

"How did the Legion slip past the walls? The Northern Cartel men aren't-"

"Probably the same way we snuck in. Things are about to get a bit too messy and I don't think this is going to be enjoyable," warned Mavislin, with her usual cheerful demeanor replaced by a solemn and detached tone.

Mattheos kept quiet as the conflict quickly escalated to one of the Legion's personnel wounding one of the Viceroy's men.

Much to his surprise, instead of fleeing the scene and leaving the family to fend for themselves, Matt witnessed the remaining two guards lunge forward towards the cat person.

"I told you; just because the Viceroy seems drunk on power and without mercy would mean that the conquered lands are under forced rule. And it would seem that his men are acting better than-"

Before Mavislin could utter another word, the cat-man vanished with otherworldly speed, appearing beside the young woman of the couple and stabbing her without warning.

Matt immediately sprang into action, rushing to intercept the next attack, much to the dragon girl's frustration.
