Chereads / DO YOU LOVE ME, RAY? / Chapter 62 - Confrontation.

Chapter 62 - Confrontation.

It's been three days since she's been unconscious, but Steele keeps saying that she's recovering, and that she'd be awake in no time. Luckily, Raymond didn't stop him from giving her any of the medications, he wanted to but he couldn't, seeing how deep and ghasty her wounds where.

Fernando has disappeared again and Raymond has a feeling that he has gone to pay his father a visit. He didn't fight it though, he just let him do it. Besides, he hurt his mate, he deserves everything that comes to him, all except death.

Holding unto his mates palm, he lifted it to kiss the back. He's been with her by her side since that day, not leaving the room unless it's really really important.

He would sit by her bed watching her eyes and fingers hoping either or both of them would move signalling her consciousness. Asides from the weak rise nd fall of her chest, she looked pretty dead.

Her skin pale, her hand and feet slightly white. Sometimes he'd think the machines were malfunctioning and would put his ear on her chest, in other to hear the faint sound of her heart, reassuring him that she was still in there somewhere.

Leaning into his seat, he picked up his phone to check his mails as he always does. He usually has a lot as CEO and Alpha king but only gives response to those that are overly important.

Scrolling through his private work mail, he saw one with a subject 'Overly Urgent'. It was sent by his President. He sruched his eyebrows, trying to understand what could be more urgent than tackling one of his competitors that has decided to take the role of fabricating lies about them, posting them online with photoshopped pictures.

He clicked on it, opening the mail completely.

"Goodday, Sir.

I know you have an already extremely packed schedule but this is really important.

Two women came in here today, going by the names Karen Westchester and Paige Sonny.

The women claimed that the employee of ours that accompanied you to the conference that was held three months ago hasn't come home or returned any of their calls and wanted to inquire if we had anything to do with it .

Their claim was ruled as preposterous and they were warned to cross check their facts as they are in danger of getting sued. They left not so peacefully but some employees have equally complained of the same issue.

They all have been calmed but I thought it important that you are aware of this.

Please pardon my intrusion, Sir.

"Ughhh" Raymond groaned, letting his head fall back. How could he have forgotten about her family. It's been months, of course they'd be worried and to make it worse her feisty bestfriend is in town. He knows her father, they've worked together so many times in the past. He equally knows the man has tons of connections and on his daughter's demand, she could use it to her disposal. It got him worried.

He turned slightly to his mate, his eyes dropping to her face, registering how pale it looked. Colour was returning but at a torturously slow rate. It made him wonder when she'd finally wake up and put him out his misery. The faint rise and fall of her chest comforted him, giving him a slight sense hope.

He thought about how to corner the issue, how to calm her mother and friends. Why hadn't Jason informed him about the uprising at home, he wondered. Pushing the thought aside he dialed Darius to see if he had any information or ideas.

"Hey, how is she." Darius asked, his background sounded noisy, like he was in a mall or something.

"Where are you?" Raymond asked.

"Uhhh.. doing something ." Darius asked seeming a little distracted.

"Hmm, okay. When you are done 'doing something', come to the hospital."

"Alright sir."

"Yeah" He said hanging up.

"Sir, you have a visitor." A man said through the intercom.

"Who is it?" The grumpy man asked.

"It's your daughter, Sir" The voice said.

The grumpy man groaned. "Send her up." He said, shutting of the intercom.

In a few minutes, Elizabeth stepped out of the elevator, into room.

"What is it, Elizabeth? Why do you keep coming here? Searching for the perfect day to kill me?" He asked.

"Wow, Good morning to you too, father. Well-" She started as she sat down, crossing her legs and turning to her father. "-I'm not going to kill you just yet, but from the looks of things, you are desperate to get killed."

"What do you mean?" Adam snapped.

"What do I mean? What were you thinking going ahead to kidnap Raymond's assistant? How do you even know the chick?!" Elizabeth scolded.

"And who are you to think you can scold me, huh? I am Adam Brooks and I do what I want." Adam shouted right back.

"What you want?! Even when it would get you killed?! Do you know how foolish you sound?!" Elizabeth screamed.

"Young Lady!" Adam scolded, grabbing her arm. "You are on thin ice."

Elizabeth laughed maniacally, angering her father further.

"You witch!! What's funny?! Do you want to die?" He seethed.

"Oh I will die alright, but looks like you will die before me." She said amusement glinting brightly in her eyes. "You know, you have no idea how lucky you are to be alive. Everyone wants Raymond to have you killed, but he's resisting and because of the love and respect everyone has for him they have decided to spare you, irrespective of how horrible you've been.-"

"-But you had the guts to kidnapped his assistant under his nose but he spared you, you beat Mom yet he spared you. I haven't killed you because I respect him. But I'm going to warn you, the next time you misbehave, you are going to hear from me, I promise you." She seethed, trying to pull her arm away from him but he was too strong.

"Let me go, you asshole!"

" Let you go?" He laughed in her face, pulling her close to him, using his other hand to grab her by her hair. He pulled on it so strong she could feel it cutting from its roots.

"You dare challenge me?! Who the fuck do you think you are? Huh? You'd learn respect by the time I'm done with you."

As he pulled her hair back so he could bang her face on the table, she was suddenly whipped away from his grip by a black smoky figure. It stopped at the other side of the room as she laughed maniacally at her father's confusion.

"And you will learn respect by the time he's done with you. Deal with him, Brad." She said to the smoky figure, leaving the room with a sly the grin on her face.

This is just the beginning, Father...
