Raymond stood starstruck before the man who had his mate in his arms. A huge part of him was eager to tear the man apart, limb to limb for placing a finger on his mate, but the other part was confused and curious.
Readjusting his stance he walked further into the room, trying as hard as possible to control his body language and aura. He didn't want his feelings to be made public just yet.
"I don't remember having one. I have just two sisters, a mother and an apparently useless father." Raymond said closing in on the corner he sat.
"Well, sadly we shared the same notion, but looks aren't completely liars. And even if you choose to insist that they are, I bet you can't deny the fact that you can feel the twin bond between us." Grey said giving his obviously irritated brother a sly smile.
In as much as Raymond would have cherished punching that lazy smirk of his brother's face, he knew he was telling the truth , which pissed him off further.
"Why do you think he kept us apart? Why are you here?" Raymond asked, still trying to sound cool despite knowing that his brother could feel his emotions through the link.
"I wouldn't dare say I know his true intentions for keeping us apart, but I know part of his reasons is to have me doing all of his dirty work to survive." Grey said looking down at Annabeth.
As he lifted his arm to brush a stand of hair from her face, it was suddenly gripped really tight by Raymond who was seething as his patience was running thin.
"You are on thin ice." He growled flashing his fangs at his twin brother who didn't flinch in fear of his brothers' actions, confusing Raymond.
Grey easily slipped his arm from his brother's iron grip, carrying on the task he was about to do initially, leaving a very astounded Raymond standing beside him.
"She's your mate, isn't she?" Grey asked, rubbing his thumb across her cheek. Surprisingly, Raymond didn't feel any honest anger or jealousy towards his brother which marveled him even more.
He felt rather... complete.
"Can you imagine what Father would do when he finds out she's your mate?."
"Take your hands off her, Grey" Raymond spat, not liking how comfortable he felt having a total stranger touch his mate. "Why are you here?"
"Didn't you hear me before? I said I do his dirty work in other to survive." Grey replied glaring at his brother.
"Why didn't you come to me then? Why did you have to work for him?" Raymond asked pacing away as he waved his fingers through his already tousled hair.
"Because you aren't strong enough to defeat him." Grey said looking straight at his brother.
"What do you mean?" Raymond asked turning to face his brother.
"Your mate was kidnapped how many months ago and you are just coming to get her. She could have been dead already for all I know. You know your father is quite mad. I mean see how far he went to hide a mere assistant away from you and you couldn't trace him in three months. So tell me, how do I thrive beside you?. If I had come to you, I'd be dead by now, don't you think?."
Raymond was completely lost for words as he assimilated everything his brother had said.
He knew his brother was right. He might be feared across the world but he doesn't have as many and effective underground contacts as he father does. And he knows that regular non-underground contacts are almost as good as useless because of how less effective they can be.
"I know you do not like to play dirty, Raymond, but when your opponent goes into the mud to hide, you have to go into the mud to kill him, or else, he'd pop his head back out, and come back to attack you." Grey said looking his brother in the eye.
"He'd be here soon." He said, placing Annabeth on the mattress as he stood up. "You can either take her with you and disappear or you stay back to kill him. The choice is yours, but just so you know, I'd be fighting by his side." With that he bolted out of the room, using a secret entrance that was hidden at a corner of the room.
Raymond weighed his options immediately, turning to Lily who signaled that he picked Anna from the mattress.
He picked her immediately, leaving the room as the rest of the crew fought off the guards who had closed in on them.
"Lily, what do you think we do?" Raymond asked cradling his mate comfortably in his arms, careful not graze her skin against the silver walls.
"I'm going to tear through the veil" She said rummaging her sack for her wand. "When I do, it takes approximately three minutes for it to close, so all of us should have crossed over by then okay?" She warned loudly, as words of affirmation rang through the air.
Raymond stood patiently in the middle of the fight with Lily as she changed her endless incantations. He kept shifting from one foot to another hoping and praying his father doesn't show up. He wasn't exactly sure of how he was going to react if he saw his face. But he was sure it wasn't gonna be funny at all.
Soon enough, Lily was done chanting and the veil was open, forcing the guards to become more fierce than before. In no time, his crew had finished them off and they were out of the veil in a minute.
They stood by the parking lot where they had initially entered the veil, watching the shimmering portal close up as they heard the sound of cars coming closer.
"Everyone hurry, get inside the vehicles!." Raymond called loudly running to his vehicle, placing Annabeth at the back seat with Lily and Margaret. "Lily, your cloaking spell would be very much needed at the moment."
"On it" Lily said as she fidled with her cowries, her eyes changing colors as it did earlier. "Done" She said.
"Silence, everyone!!" Raymond ordered through the intercom. Everywhere was as silent as a graveyard as they watched all the vehicles come closer and pull up beside them.
Sounds of engines being killed and banging close of opened doors echoed in the parking lot as a lot of men came down from the vehicles.
"Where is he?!" Adam screamed into the burner phone he held on to so tightly it could break in pieces.
"What do you mean they disappeared, Grey?!! I am so going to kill you" Adam seethed, throwing the phone to the ground smashing it into pieces with his boots.
"Open the veil" he ordered.
Raymond shifted in his seat, wanting to go save his brother but Darius held him back earning a very dangerous glare from the Alpha.
'I think it would be wiser if you sat back, Alpha. You have Annabeth and I think your brother would be fine.' Darius said through the mind link, making Raymond visibly relax his stance as he huffed and sat back in his seat, giving the steering a death grip.
They witnessed as Adam and his crew pulled into the veil, the shimmering portal closing them in. No sooner had it closed, they bolted out of the parking lot with screeching tires.
