******Annabeth****
I'm here. Standing Before Brooks.
I'm supposed to go inside but I just can't. I just have this foreboding feeling creeping through my veins, which currently has worsened at the sight of the building before me.
The building towered over me like colossal skyscraper. As I approached it, it's sheer size was quite overwhelming. I tried not to look up at it anymore. Maybe if I can just keep my head down till I walk through those revolving doors... I'd be fine.
This job is absolutely crucial to me, if submitting this report and pleading was gonna make them take me, I was going to do it. There is no going back now.
I approached the doors which fresh confidence and walked into the reception. I wasn't prepared for what I saw. The reception was very spacious, the floor adorned with intricate marble tiles, the walls looked so exquisite. I couldn't identify what it was designed with but It looked really good.
I looked up to see the receptionist smiling at a woman, telling her something and I walked up to her. I leaned on her counter, taking in a deep breath.
'You can do this ' I told myself straightening the non-existent creases on my skirt.
"Good morning, Ma. I'm Stella. Welcome to Brooks. How many I be of help." She was giving a polite smile.
Here we go. We got this
"Good morning, Stella. I am Annabeth Smith. I was offered a job here as at last week and was to resume this week, on Monday but got in an accident and couldn't report for work. I wanted to know if I could meet the person in charge to see what could be done." I released a breath I didn't know I was holding. I still kept my poker face on.
"Okay, uh..let me make a quick call and get back to you. Please have a seat." She said motioning to the seat behind me.
I sat down and waited as she made the call. Silently praying for some kind of miracle to suffice. I needed this.
"Miss Annabeth" She called
"Yeah?" I said standing up from the seat and picking my bag. This was it. My verdict.
"Please take the elevator to the last floor, floor 100. There would be someone there to assist you." She said giving me a small smile.
"Thank you, Stella. I really appreciate." I said returning her smile and walked to the elevator.
There was no one in it and I was very grateful for that. I looked at myself on the elevator doors as the closed. I was scared, really scared. I have to do this. I pressed the '100' button and the elevator started going up.
I jolted at first then steadied myself on the railing. This is the fastest elevator I have ever used. The ceiling was golden and the walls were mirror like.
If I ever worked here, my early morning coffee routine would have to stop. I was already at the verge of vomiting the pancakes I had for breakfast...This is not good.
Luckily I had arrived at the '100th' floor. I took a deep breath and let it out as the doors opened. It is time.
As I stepped out a lady in a white pencil skirt and a stripped sleeveless chiffon blouse was standing there. Looked like she was waiting for me?.
"Miss Annabeth Smith?" She called.
"That's me." I said giving her a polite smile she didn't bother returning. Not scary at all.
"Come with me." She said already walking ahead. I trotted after her, trying to keep up with her quick steps in my heels. Apparently, Paige thought it wasn't very professional to wear flats to work. Something about first impression. So here I am, in a 4 inch heeled shoe. Perfect.
We went through a small lobby and stopped at a double door that looked soo heavy. There was an office just opposite the doors. It's door and was made of glass.
"Mr Brooks would see you now and stop slouching geez" She blurted, sized me up and sashayed past me. I was dumbfounded to say the least. That was double weird and I wasn't slouching. Maybe I was a little.
I took another deep breath for the hundredth time today , made the sign of the cross and straightened my back. I put on my poker face, letting a tiny but moderate enough smile fill me lips.
It's about to serious, Anna.
I was about to take a step forward when I felt that foreboding feeling again. I tried not to think about it. The last thing I want now is a panic attack. Besides if what lies behind this gigantic doors is that scary, just how scary could it be?
I put my small smile back on and pushed the doors open. They were surprisingly light. I stepped into the heavily air conditioned room and closed the doors behind me. Taking in a deep breath I looked up to see my supposed boss.
"You.."
I have seen and had a lot of surprises -both good and bad- in my life, but I couldn't deny that after the first surprise -my fathers death- I never let myself get that surprised ever again. I always made sure I expected the best and worst and I was always ready for them. And even when I got surprised, I never really let it show.
But this... This was.. oh my God. I couldn't have been that bad in my past life. Why did this have to happen. God, you can take me now, but please protect my friends and family.
"Miss Annabeth, we meet again. My pleasure." He stretched his hand to me for a hand shake. I looked at his hand. They were veiny and looked strong. I wondered how they'd look when he flexes them or lifts something. His fingers were long and muscular and sexy. His palms were pink, they looked soft and strong at the same time, how would the look grabbing my tits or my waist...
'Anna!! Bad timing ' I scolded my self. He was sexy I couldn't help it.
I looked at him. I accepted his handshake keeping my eyes off him. His hands were so soft and huge. It completely swallowed mine. His cologne wasn't harsh but it was soft either. It had this woody scent, alittle of lavender too. It was just so good. I'm
I knew he was looking at me but I refused to meet his eyes. I was embarrassed and horny and confused.
I pulled away from him.
When I felt I was a safe distance away from him I kept my professional face on and looked at him. I decided to put what happened at the hospital behind us. He is my employer, he has to like me.
He had on black pine suit on and a white dress shirt with black trousers. He looked really good I had to admit.
"Please come have a seat, Anna" he said heading to seat beside his desk.
"I know what you came for but there's no need for that. You still have you job .....as my secretary."
WHAT THE FUCK!
